OUT 715--STL TIDBITZ (UPDATES POSTED)

HELLO OUTTOWNERS! ITS WEDNESDAY--TIEM TO GET TOWNED!

Before we get into the arts and entertainment newz bitz going on the ILL and MO:
This week we celebrate the one year anniversary of the election of President Barack Obama and his 1st year in office as the 44th President . Check out the local eventz below (UNDER BARACK BITZ) that will be happening in the STL.

The biggest A&E news story in the ILLI AND MO this week was: The Clear Channel-owned hip-hop/R&B station 100.3 The Beat changing formats and firing all of its on-air talent and staff . On Friday after noon, the station started playing seasonal music. It's currently "stunting" (in industry term) as "Halloween 100.3 Scary Music for St. Louis." After Halloween, it started playing X-mas music as "Christmas 100.3."

Some of the on air personalities that were ousted were Kiki the First Lady (who came on board since the stations inception 1999), Hypeman Dwight Stone (BOTH PICTURED ABOVE) and DJ AJ (PICTURED ABOVE). It was reported that the personalities posted their goodbyes on their Facebook pages.
When asked about the firings, Kiki said to OUTTOWN: “I’m not worried or stressed about it.”
Wow, talk about a shock. Well, maybe the talent and staff will be picked up on other Clear Channel markets in the STL or across the country. Plus, the station has a sister station on HD radio so they may be sent there. In radio, as in the rest of the job economy, is pretty much to the point and the bottom line. We wish the Beat crew well in their future endeavors.
UPDATE: We hear that Kiki the 1st Lady is now in NYC and that Hypeman Dwight Stone is seeking the ministry and using music to help people with their problems.

The St. Louis Rams are on its BYE Week this week after winning its first game of the 2009 NFL Season last Sunday with Detroit Lions, 17-10, breaking its 17th consecutive game losing streak and pitting a win in its eight game record so far. Next Sunday, the Rams will play the New Orleans Saints at home at the Edward Jones Dome.

In other sports newz, St. Louis native first baseman Ryan Howard and the Phillies are in New York to play Game 6 tonite, Wednesday in hopes of tying the series in the World Series , where the Yankees leads 3-2, and make it a Game 7.
Good luck to the Phillies in the Land of the Yanks.
UPDATE: Well luck didnt come to the Phillies for a second straight season as they lost to the Yankees late Wednesday nite and the Yankees winning the World Series. .

In other sports newz, Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals and World Series player Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees were the winners of the 2009 Sharp presents Hank Aaron Award announced Sunday night before Jeter's Yanks played the Phillies in Game 4 of the World Series at Citizens Bank Park.

It is the second time for both players, Jeter winning in 2006 and Pujols in '03

In unrelated Pujols newz, appearing on St. Louis sports station WXOS 101.1 FM last Thursday, Pujols was asked to explain comments made during a now trivial interview he did on Dominican Republic radio soon after the Crads were eliminated in the playoffs .
In the interview, Pujols suggested he was in no hurry to sign a contract extension with the Cardinals and was "gonan leave it God's hands." It was reported that Cardinals GM John Mozeliak was surprised by Pujols’ comments.
But on his interview Thursday, on ESPN Radio-- WXOS FM he set the record straight taht he wants to be a Cardinal for the rest of his career.
"I love this city, " he said " The way that this city has embraced me and my family."

Pujols has one year left on his contract plus an option year.
Hmm, sounds like someone in Cards managemnet musta got on bended knee with money for him that would have made Stevie Wonder see what he was offered. LOL

Chicago native, First Lady Michelle Obama is helping the long running PBS children's show Sesame Street clebrate its 40th season on air. The show celebrates its 40th birthday on November 10, 2009, the exact day the series debuted on TV four decades ago.First Lady Michelle Obama appears in the first episode of Sesame Street’s 40th season and teaches “the street’s” residents about the many benefits of planting a garden and healthy eating as part of the series’ ongoing “Healthy Habits for Life” initiative.

Two hard newz bitz made newz that had an STL-entertainment base. Recently, six black bar students from Washinton University ‘s law school in St. Louis who complained to state and federal agencies and threatened to sue a Chicago, Illinois, nightclub, Mother’s, that barred them from their senior class trip celebration because they were black , while admitting nearly 200 white classmates, have dropped its lawsuit and asked for a letter of apology as requested by the Anti-Defamation League and the Chicago Urban League, that were originally contacted by the students after the incident.

Bar personnel cited the club’s dress code violations -- specifically baggy jeans -- when barring the African-American students, but when a white student and a black student exchanged jeans to see what would happen, and the white student was admitted while his classmate still was kept outside, that’s when the group filed complaints with the Chicago Human Rights Commission, the Illinois Attorney General, the U.S. Department of Justice and other organizations after the incident on October 17.

Fuck that. I would have sued them.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
.
Then this week, the St. Louis County Council authorized starting negotiations toward a possible subsidy and talks for a mammoth residential and commercial and casino project along the Missouri River south of Interstate 70.

The council voted 9-0 to designate Michael Sellenschuetter's Riverwalk Development LLC as the developer which has submitted documents referring to a possible $125 million tax-increment financing plan for the project, Harbor San Carlos.
Hmm, we wonder if eminent domain will be used for this entertainment project?

Speaking of casinos, St. Louis based rapper /mogul Nelly will have a b-day party at Home Nightclub Nov, 6 inside the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles. For the first time Nelly, Derrty Ent, UCME, and Home Nightclub will host the party, but guests must wear pajamas or lingerie.

And in other casino newz, legendary game show host Bob Eubanks is coming to Lumiere Place ’s Lumiere Theatre with some of the most popular game shows he has hosted over the last 30 years. The shows begin Nov. 9. There will be four preliminary shows leading up to the two final Game Show Spectaculars -– Nov. 9, 14, 16, and 21. During each of these preliminary shows, 80 people will win cash and two tickets to the final Game Shows, plus one winner will have a chance to win $250,000. Contestants will play “Newlywed Game,” “Card Sharks,” and “Higher-Lower,” and have the chance to win up to $250,000.
On Nov. 28, Eubanks will host the final two 75-minute shows at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., where 50 contestants will play. Plus, a contestant will have a chance to win $250,000 during each show. In all, six contestants will have a chance to win $250,000.
Tickets are free, but you must win them either through play in the casino or by swiping your mychoiceSM rewards card at a kiosk in Lumière Place . For full details, visit
www.lumiereplace.com.

So all you wanna be gamblers, must get a free ticket to gamble on the game shows that will ask you “how many times you make whoopie,” and “ higher or lower.” LOL

Former superstar wrestler and current reality show star Hulk Hogan swung through St. Louis at the St. Louis Public Library on Olive in downtown St. Louis to support his new autobiography
"Hulk Hogan: My Life Outside the Ring". There, Hogan didn’t speak and didn’t sign memorabilia. Wrestling fans had to buy the book to get his signature.

STL singer Kevin Renick (PICTURED ABOVE LEFT)is among several national recording acts whose songs are featured on the upcoming soundtrack to the STL filmed movie “Up in the Air,” starring George Clooney (Which will be shown at the STL International Film Festival –SEE EVENTZ BELOW). Other acts on the CD include CSNY, Graham Nash, and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings. The CD will be released Dec. 1.

In other concert newz, we heard by a source that Matchbox 20 frontman Rob Thomas had ejected someone from his concert at the Fox Theatre on Grand cuz the fan was heckling Thomas on his costume that he wore. We didnt get what type of costume he wore, but Thomas asked for the ushers to escort him out the show. Hmm, maybe his costume was him dressed as a platinum album? LOL

Also in concert, upcoming, R&B soulster Rahsaan Patterson is headlining “A Feel Good Experience,” an event put on by 1st-Friday and McCafe event Nov. 6 at EXO Nightclub. Patterson will perform acoustically.

Lastly, in concert bitz, 90s soul group H-Town of “Knockin Boots” fame performed a concert last Thursday at the Ambassador with acts Troop and Next. Here is the group backstage with fans after their set . Anyone go? It was raining revelations for OUTTOWN to even tray and go. (Photo by Hot Rod)

East St. Louis director and former BET president Reggie Hudlin directed an episode of the popular NBC sitcom “The Office. ” The title of the episode was “Koi Pond.” And if you all are fans of the show, you all know that this was one of the funnier episodes of the season so far.

It sounds like R&B station Majic 104.9 is loosening up its iron clad R&B only and no rap format these days playing more hip-hop. Well, up until the 1990s that is. W edont think they gonna play Ice Cream Dream any time soon on there. And speaking of the station, we discovered that Sylvester the Cat's Saturday Afternoon Oldie Show has been revamped supposedly from Clear Channels' cleaning house of its stations.

KETC personality Ruth Ezell will be receiving a Spirit of Justice” award this Friday at the
St. Louis Bar Foundation’s 2nd Annual Golden Gala at the Chase Park Plaza. The Bar Foundation said it looks for people “who have promoted the equitable administration of justice in our community. (HINT. This mover and shaker is not a promoter but he is part of a "Midtown" STL club who's' name shares a vowel with a competing club and he is mostly behind the scenes at this club taking "orders.")

???????????????????WORDZ TO THE WHYZ????????????????????????

Why did Rihanna wait til now to tell her story on national TV? And why is her new song, “Russian Roulette” seem to be sparking debate over whether the song is encouraging suicide? Why did that white Dallas Cowboy cheerleader come to a house party who put blackface on?Why did Rev. Al Sharpton’s ex wife and daughter honk at a NYC cop in their car for going slow, passed him then run a stop light? And why did they get serious TUDE with the cop when they got stopped by the cop? why didn’t black people vote in the gubernatorial elections across the country? Why did Majic Johnson after all these years write about his ex best friend Isiah Thomas in his book claiming he may be gay after catching HIV? Why did some guy at the Seven Deadly Sins party at Exo try to make it rain with dollar bills? And why were there so many sistas at both Exo and Karma Halloween parties in angels costumes and guys either in pimp costumes or no costume at all? Why do white billionaires who embezzle money end up committing suicide when they are caught and are sentenced to prison? Why do we carte that NeNe from the Real Housewives lost ten pounds? Why do singers say , “Oh Lord” when they are struggling hitting certain notes when they sing? Why did a STL female model skip town with a local designers clothes worth $7,000? And why can women report an assault charge on men when they initiated the fight and threw the first punch?
