THE BIG A&E STORY THIS WEEK IS

The final original episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" will air May 25. Winfrey's Chicago-based Harpo Productions has confirmed the date. Winfrey announced live on the show in November 2009 that she would end its run after 25 years. She since has launched cable's Oprah Winfrey Network. "The Oprah Winfrey Show" has been in reruns for the last few weeks. But Winfrey tweeted that she was "hard at work planning the final shows" and new episodes would begin April 7. The final episode brings an end to what has been television's top-rated talk show for more than two decades. It airs in 145 countries worldwide.

In unrelated Oprah newz, a federal judge in Pennsylvania has tossed out an author's $100 million lawsuit against Oprah Winfrey for violating the copyright in the political booklet, "How America Elects Her Presidents."

Charles Harris claimed in a lawsuit that in 2008, as Winfrey began supporting Barack Obama's presidential campaign, Harris sent 10 copies of his booklet to "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in hopes of gaining publicity. He followed up with several inquiries. Harris got no response, but according to the complaint, on the February 16, 2009 show, Winfrey allegedly read aloud exact questions that were included in the book. Harris wanted more than $100 million for alleged copyright infringement.

Winfrey filed a motion to dismiss, seeking sanctions for a frivolous lawsuit, saying that had the plaintiff obtained a public transcript of the show in question, he would have realized that the talk show host didn't read Harris' "exact same questions" aloud with the arguable exception of one: "Which one of our presidents weighed the most?"

During the episode, titled "Oprah's Search For The Smartest and Most Talented Kids," she brought children on set, including one six-year-old named Graham who she said was a "first grade whiz kid who knows more about American presidents than most adults."

Oprah and Graham joshed about various presidents from George Washington to Barack Obama, before the talk show queen queried the kid about the heaviest president. Graham correctly answered it was William Howard Taft at 327 pounds.

Winfrey's motion to dismiss the lawsuit said Harris' lawyers should have known that facts about American presidents are not copyrightable. A compilation of facts based on the selection and arrangement can be copyrightable, but Winfrey pointed out that Harris didn't register his work as a compilation, and it lacked originality, among other things.

U.S. District Court Judge Jan DuBois agreed that Harris' work is "not original," and that Winfrey's use of the Fat Taft fact, even if she did learn it from Harris' book, was not an infringement. The judge, however, determined that the plaintiff's claims were made with reasonable good faith under the circumstance, and declined to award sanctions.

So basically its about the arrangement of facts that caused the guy to lose. Or in other words, Oprah equals You Lose. LOL

Is there trouble in paradise already for J Hud and David Ortega before they go down the isle? Well, it was evident something is going on when Jennifer Hudson appeared on Friday's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno where she opened up about husband-to-be David Otunga's reaction to her 80-pound weight loss.

"He's getting adjusted to it," she said of David. "He's not really into change that much."

Now a size six from her now famous Weight Watchers program, Hudson has upped her style and traded jeans for gems - a move that hasn't exactly thrilled Otunga.

"He fusses at me like, 'Why do you have to get all dressed up to go out and why can't you just go out like you used to,'" Hudson said. "And I'm like, 'I'm a walking billboard now honey!"

Hmm. Not good. When a man is used to his woman looking a certain way , he is not used to any changes . And now that Hudson looks like a trophy wife instead of a matron type, it is expected that there would be tension now that she is looked at now as sexy. Hmm, it’s gonna be interesting what transpires in their relationship now that she is getting more attention about her figure than her talents. We can just imagine how that convo was between J Hud and David after that interview was aired. Geesh.

St. Louis native award nominated actor Jon Hamm had the No,. 2 movie at the Box Office last weekend with the movie, ”Sucker Punch” raking in $19 million. The film has received good reviews. The story is about a young girl is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the facility. Hamm plays High Roller/Doctor and has some steamy sex scenes with the lead actress Emily Browning.

Purdue’s coach Matt Painter is staying at Purdue after talking with Missouri about its coaching vacancy. Purdue announced Wednesday that it has agreed to an eight-year contract with Painter through the 2018-19 season. Financial terms were not disclosed. Last year, Purdue rewarded Painter with a contract through the 2016-17 season. It included a $1.3 million base salary and up to $1 million in incentives. Purdue coach Matt Painter met with Mizzou earlier this wee to gauge the school's commitment to the basketball program, sources told the Post-Dispatch. The Tigers were looking for a replacement to Mike Anderson,.Before Anderson left, the school had offered a contract extension and raise for Anderson for seven years at about $2 million per year.

Last Friday, a couple of noteworthy entertainers were no –shows at two separate appearances in St. Louis last Friday—Jaheim at the Ambassador and Kid Capri at Exo. It was strike two for Jaheim who was supposedly scheduled to perform along with Syleena Johnson after the concert was postponed Feb 13 due to Jaheim’s commitment to attend the Grammys on the same nite. Well, last Friday, he was still a no show (Syleena Johnson performed as did several local acts)

The packed house discovered late into Johnson’s set that Jaheim was not performing. Accoridng to reports, things seemed a bit janky when many local performers performed including R&B group MoTre and comedian St. Louis Slim. It was announced Jaheim reportedly tried his best to get to St. Louis but had flight issues. But actually that was a fabrication. Come to fuind out, he was never scheduled to perform the first or second time and from a substantial source, a bogus booking promoter took off with the STL promoters money to bring Jaheim and used the stars name just to sell tickets and in turn the local promoters, one being Hella Fly Promotions, helped to promote the show.

According to Silky Sol, ST Louis singer, who is connected in the music business said on her Facebook page ).""THIS WAS A SCAM AND A DOUBLE WAMMIE AT THAT!!!!! ""JAHIEM WAS NEVER BOOKED TO COME TO ST. LOUIS…SYLEENA JOHNSON - YES.....BUT NEVER JAHIEM. He was used to sale tickets and St. Louis got played twice."" SO JAHIEMS NAME WAS USED TO ""SALE TICKETS"" AND ""STL GOT PLAYED TWICE

SO JAHIEMS NAME WAS USED TO ""SALE TICKETS"" AND ""STL GOT PLAYED TWICE.

Later that nite at Soul Stylz; season finale of its monthly party Pandora, Dj Kid Capri was scheduled to be the celebrity dee-jay , but it was announced in the wee hours of the event that he was not coming because his mother died earlier that day and that he was at the airport to attend. Capri tweeted "Just watch my moms take her last breath, I am beyond hurt,. I will always always have you in my mind and heart, I love you Ma," he tweeted.

Hmm a double whammy for St. Louis. The Jaheim ordeal was quite janky and the ones who looked bad in this were the local promoters but the general public will always blame the artist for not showing up , not knowing the full reasons as to why they did appear (the reason was a lie as well with the missed flight). Kid Capri, on the other hand, was out of his control. But, the timing of the announcement at Exo was a bit questionable especially if it was known long before the event tha the was not attending. But after a few drinks and local DJ Reminise spinning tunes that Capri may have spun (with his signature loud screams of his name), the crowd , although made slight awww in disappointment really didnt care cuz they were in point of no party return mode (which is probably why they did that). Folk got in free with an RSVP and Soul Stylz got money upfront from its sponsors so it looked likely that the interste was in the venue making money through its bar sales.

We just sayin.

I want my fans there to know that I appreciate their submissions asking me to bring 'Number Ones: Up Close and Personal' to this exciting city.
