But it all closed ship for them around 1ish when a member of the crew got on the mic and said that it was time for them to bounce as though they were in a field trip from school (We are not for sure that a bus was outside waiting to take them to the hotel they were stayin, but its likely that was the case).

OUT 958--ILLI MO Arts &Ent BITZ--UPDATES and ADDs(Jan. 27-Feb. 2)

THIS JUST END!

Washington University in St. Louis just approved a $20,000 grant for its Sexual Health Awarenss Week with a panel which will include controversial personality Bristol Palin, the daughter of 2008 Republican Vice President candidate Sarah Palin, who made headlines for having a baby out of wedlock at the age 18. She is now an advocate for abstinence programs. The panel will be Feb 7 at the campus' Graham Chapel. From reports, many students disapproved of Palin's appearance and is currently writing up a petition for a referendum vote to not bring Palin. The vote can only take place Feb 6, a day before her visit.

Bristol Palin preaching abstinence is like trying to find a needle in an ocean. This was definitely for a big draw to their school.

This story will definitetly be continuing.

AND BACK TO A REGULARLY SCHEDULED POST.

HEY OUTTOWNERS!

This week we spotlight Chicago native and St. Louis raised legendary R&B singer/musician Donny Hathaway.

Donny Hathaway (born Donnie Pitts) was born in Chicago and lived in the Carr Square in St. Louis. He graduated from Vashon High School in 1963. He studied music on a fine arts scholarship at Howard University, but during 1967 left Howard without a degree, after receiving job offers in the music business.

After becoming a "house producer" for Chicago native artist Curtis Mayfield's label, Curtom Records, he started recording there as a member of The Mayfield Singers. He recorded his first single under his own name in 1969, a duet with singer June Conquest called "I Thank You Baby". That year, Hathaway signed to Atco Records after being spotted for the label by producer/musician King Curtis at a trade convention. He released his first single of note, “The Ghetto". The track appeared the following year on his critically acclaimed debut LP, Everything is Everything” , which he co-produced.

His second LP, an eponymous release, was also a success, but it was an album of duets with former Howard University classmate and label mate Roberta Flack in 1972 that established him, especially on the pop charts. The album was both a critical and commercial success, including the Grammy Award winning track "Where is The Love” that hit No. 1 R&B and No. 5 on the Hot 100.

Donny Hathaway is also known as the co-composer and performer of the Christmas standard, “This Christmas.” The song, released in 1970, has become a holiday staple and is often used in movies, television and in advertising. He took a hiatus from the music industry from 1973 to 1978 battling mental disorders. He returned to the charts in 1978 after again teaming up with Roberta Flack for a duet, "The Closer I Get To You" on her album, "Blue Lights In The Basement". The song topped the R&B chart and just missed the number 1 spot on the Hot 100 (reaching #2)

But his comeback was short lived when Hathaway died on January 13, 1979 after being found lifeless on the sidewalk below the window of his 15th-floor room in New York's Essex House hotel. Investigators ruled Hathaway's death a suicide.

Hathaway has three daughters, Lalah and Kenya , who are also singers, and Donnita.

Although he didn’t have many solo songs to chart high on the charts, many of his songs were R&B staples, including, “Someday We’ll All Be Free” here is a link to that epochal song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv1B0ejhFVEv=cv1B0ejhFVE

THE BIG STORY THIS WEEK IS:

President Barack Obama had his State of The Union Address at the White House Tuesday. From reports, an online CBS News Poll of speech watchers found that 92 percent approved his speech and 81 percent of those who watched said they now approve of the Obama's economic plans, up significantly from 54 percent before the speech. A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey indicated that 84 percent of those who watched had a positive response.

Gallup however noted that the President is not likely to see a jump in public support after his delivery of the State of the Union address. Gallup said it is historically rare for a president to see a jump in his approval rating following the State of the Union address, noting that it has measured only four instances since 1978 when a president's approval rating rose by at least four percentage points following the speech.

Obama's approval rating in the three days after his State of the Union address in 2010 came in at 48 percent, unchanged from the days leading up the speech. Gallup noted that Obama's average approval rating for January 17th to 23rd is 50 percent, up from 44 percent in the first full week after the midterm elections in November.

He began his speech by saying he and others were "mindful of the empty chair in this chamber, and pray for the health of our colleague – and our friend – Gabby Giffords.''
He also called for unity with Republicans and sketched out his vision and goals in an era of divided government. In his speech he focused on the main topics like the economy, investing n technology, foreign policy, the don’t ask don’t tell military repeal and of course, working with Republicans on ways of making health care more open to citizens.

CLAP-CLAP-CLAP. LOL

TIED FOR THE BIG STORY IS

Oprah Winfrey scored her best ratings in nearly six years with Monday's show during which Winfrey revealed that she had a half-sister she never knew. The show averaged a 9.6 household rating . That's the highest episode since Winfrey's post-Oscar party instalment on Feb. 28, 2005. Chicago based talk show queen Oprah Winfrey recently learned she has a half-sister, a Milwaukee woman named Patricia, who was put up for adoption by Winfrey's mother nearly 50 years ago.

On "The Oprah Winfrey Show" , a sometimes-emotional Winfrey introduced Patricia, explaining how the woman's years-long search for her family culminated in a meeting with Winfrey on Thanksgiving Day of last year. The discovery is "the miracle of all miracles," Winfrey told her audience.

Winfrey said she was stunned to learn about the sibling, telling her audience that when Patricia was born in 1963, Winfrey was 8 years old and living with her father. She did not even know her mother was pregnant.

Patricia said she had tried years ago to learn the identity of the woman who gave her up for adoption, and only started to try again a few years ago at the insistence of her two adult children, who also appeared on Monday's show.

Patricia said she feared her search would be fruitless after she got a telephone call from the state adoption agency, which reported that her birth mother had been contacted and did not wish to meet her.

Winfrey's mother, Vernita Lee, also disclosed that one of the deceased children was named Patricia.

"The hairs on the back of my neck stood up," Patricia said. "Because I knew one of my siblings and I shared the same name."

Later, she found more details that matched, including the fact that Winfrey was born in 1954, the same year as the woman Patricia knew was her surviving sibling.Winfrey, who said DNA tests confirmed that the two are half-sisters, met with Patricia and their mother in a pre-recorded segment of the show.

Lee, who recently suffered a minor stroke, said she never told Winfrey about her half-sister, "because I thought it was a terrible thing for me to do, that I had done, gave up my daughter when she was born." Winfrey said documents from the girl's birth reveal that Lee gave up the baby for adoption because she did not think she could get off welfare if she kept the child.

Winfrey said she was particularly stunned by the news because of the way it came out. She said Patricia had known since 2007 that the two were related, but she never attempted to profit off her discovery or contact the press, even as she tried unsuccessfully to contact Winfrey, her mother or others in Winfrey's family.

"She never once thought to sell the story," Winfrey said, describing how she felt betrayed by other relatives who sought publicity.

Patricia said she didn't consider revealing that she and Winfrey were half-sisters to anyone but Winfrey, explaining that she did not want to hurt Winfrey.

"Family business should be handled by family," Patricia said. "It couldn't be handled by anyone else. That's not fair. It wouldn't be fair to you."

Wow this is quite amazing for Oprah. But the question now is, what will Oprah do for her now that she is kin cuz you know that’s what folk are yammering about. But we must say it was quite commendable that Patricia did not go to the press after her find so that showed where her heart was in all of this. Now that she has the sister that she never had, as she mentioned on Barbra Walters Special last Thanksgiving, where does BFF Gayle fall in all this discovery? Also, did Oprah know about her sister during that interview on Barbara’s show? Hmmm.

++++++

Speaking of Gayle, she was interviewed recently on “Good Morning America” about Oprah;s find. King pointed out that Patricia, Winfrey's half-sister, was simply trying to locate her mother, and wasn't interested in using her relation to Winfrey for personal gain.

"Patricia wasn't trying to get Oprah. She was trying to find her mother. That's what I think is so amazing about this story. She wanted to find [her mother] Vernita Lee," said King. "Having Oprah as a ... half-sister, it was a hell of a bonus. That was not her motivation. She wanted to reconnect with her mother."

As for the future, King said Winfrey is looking forward to forming a relationship with her long-lost relative. "She wants to get to know her, as she says, 'woman to woman,' and try to see where it goes," King said. "But she's certainly open to having a relationship."

Hmm, the plot is thickening on this indeed. Gayle is doing brave face to the public, but we are sure the dynamics of Opraha nd Gayle;s relationship will be tested now that Oprah has the sister that she never had!

Speaking of guests on the Oprah Winfrey Show, First lady Michelle Obama returned to her Chicago hometown last Friday to tape the show. Mrs. Obama will discuss plans to launch a nationwide campaign to support families with someone in the military. The first lady has become an advocate for military families. Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler has been getting hammered by the media and fans about not returning to the second half of the Super Bowl deciding Bears v Packers game Sunday in Chicago with a bummed knee, a game that was played in Chitown 21-14 with the Packers winning. As a result, there has been a "Defend Jay Cutler" campaign going on the Internet and sports analyst doing their ‘perception over reality' theories: The perception being that Jay Cutler gave up on his team, the reality being that Jay Cutler was hurt.

Since the loss, Cutler's tenacity reportedly has been questioned by many people

spanning from the fans to players and media members. and many observers

wondered why Cutler did not attempt to re-enter the game. Instead, Cutler rallied his team by being himself, his emotionless attitude spreading confidence to fellow Bears...

Many argue that although one may be injured it doesn't mean you relinquish your duties as a leader. KSLG Sports personality said on his show this week that Cutler had no choice but to sit out the rest of the game because he is a Type I diabetic and a pain shot wouldn’t have helped him being a Type I diabetic. We think Cutler and the right decision and shouldn’t have risked his health over a game.

This week, nominees for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards were announced this week. As far as any ILLIMOians nominated in the major categories, there was only one, sorta that we are aware of That is St. Louis junior high school graduate and British born Colin Firth. Chicago native award winning singer/actress Jennifer Hudson gave details about her upcoming wedding while at the Gem Awards last week. She tells who designed her ring and if she plans on having her son in the ceremony.

“Everything is already set. We already have our wedding bands and everything made, and Neil Lane made them. I designed [my dress] myself. I did. It has its own show. It is a show, so it has to have its own moment with special lighting and everything, and theme music. Oh, I am so serious. It’s white. That’s the color, in keeping with tradition. Baby came first, but hey.

She went on and said, “One minute I wanted this huge, grand wedding, and now I’m like, ‘I don’t know that I want it so big.’ I have to make up my mind again. We’ll have to wait and see, but I know I’ll be wearing Neil Lane…David, Jr. will look just like his father in his tux. So cute. I’ll have both my Davids. Maybe he’ll walk Mommy down the aisle. That would be so cute!”

ADD: J Hud's second CD, I Remember, will be released in March. The first single, "Where Are You" was produced by Chicagoan R Kelly.

Chitown native Internet sensation Antonie Dodson reality show is in its pilot stage. As of now, nothing has been set in stone, TMZ reports, but chances are really looking good for Dodson.

“Antoine Dodson is starring in a new reality show... run and tell that, homeboy,” TMZ writes, citing that last part from Dodson himself.

“The guy who famously battled a bedroom intruder is shooting a pilot for a reality show produced by Entertainment One. Actress Kali Hawk will serve as executive producer,” the e-zine reports. As of now, further details have not been made available – it seems everything is dependent on how the pilot will fare with network bosses.

“We’re told the show doesn’t have an official name yet – but producers have already shot a bunch of footage centered around Antoine moving out of Alabama and over to West Hollywood,” TMZ has also learned. “So far, we’re told the show is still looking for a deal with a network,” says the same e-zine. In other words, Antoine will be shopping it around town for a while longer.

If the idea is picked up – and many see no reason why it shouldn’t be – the network will decide whether to greenlight a season depending on how audiences react to the pilot.

We would be surprised if it’s NOT picked up. If Flava Flav can have a reality show about finding love then anything is bearable. LOL

Chicago Kanye West’s investment in one of his Fatburgers chain closed shop. Last week, his franchise that was located in oak Pak, a suburb in Chicago(and home for actress Betty white and comedian Kathy Griffin) .In 2008, West decided that his home town of Chicago needed a dose of the West Coast, in the form of the cult burger stand Fatburger. After some discussion, his food company KW Foods, LLC was able to obtain the rights to open 10 Fatburgers in the Chitown area. The first one opened its doors in suburban Orland Park in September of that year, followed by a second in Chicago's Beverly neighborhood. It’s baby No. 5 for rap superstar Lil Wayne and the child has ILLI MO ties. In August 2010, Brenda Ann Brown of Columbia, MO filed papers on behalf of her 8-year-old grandchild demanding that the rapper provide a DNA sample to prove whether or not he was the father of her daughter’s child (The mother’s name was not included in the filing) According to MediaTakeout, , the test results have returned and show that the 8-year old boy, named Dwayne Carter is indeed Lil’ Wayne’s son.He was originally ordered to take a paternity test for this child by September but he was still incarcerated. Wayne did the test in December. Weezy has four other children by four other women.

St. Louis bred rap mogul Nelly will be headlining The Blizzard Music Tour 5.0. It will also feature acts 3OH!3, Big Reeno and more. It kicks off Tuesday March 1 in Brookings, S.D., and concludes Sunday, March 13, in Casper, Wyo. Jade Presents conceived the idea in an effort to get artists with Top 40 radio hits to smaller markets and deliver a great show at an affordable price. The tour will host five musical acts total, the last two yet to be announced.

There were no dates scheduled for any cities in the ILLI MO area.

In unrelated newz, Nelly said he was inspired by singer Mariah Carey to make a successful comeback. He was reportedly amazed by the way Carey constantly recovers from setbacks and wants to use the negative comments of his critics to further fuel his desire to achieve chart success again, reports Contactmusic.

"Look at Mariah Carey. She has a little break. People look at it like it's over. They have to throw dirt on her. Then all of a sudden, she's the biggest thing to hit the stage again. Even bigger. You see what I'm saying, and I think that happens. So when you look at it like that, you've got to apply yourself," Nelly said.

Wow, who knew that Carey was his inspiration. We wouldda thought LL Cool J or someone in his genre of music who came and went and returned.

THE BIG STL STORY THIS WEEK IS:

According to stltoday.com,. "High," the drama starring Kathleen Turner that played the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis last fall, is Broadway-bound — and the Rep is among its producers. Written by Matthew Lombardo and directed by Rob Ruggiero, "High" will open at the Booth Theatre on April 19. Previews begin March 25

n an arrangement so unusual that Mark Bernstein, the Rep's managing director, knows of nothing else like it, the Rep put together a group of St. Louis investors who together back about 30 percent of the Broadway production. These investors put in their own money and have agreed to sign over their profits, if there are profits, to the Rep.

As a result, the Rep is an above-the-title Broadway producer, a first in its 45-year history. Once again, Turner will play Sister Jamison Connolly, a nun who counsels addicts, and Evan Jonigkeit will make his Broadway debut as Cody Randall, a teen prostitute she tries to help.

Speaking of theater, the 6th Annual Kevin Kline Awards were announce recently and with 21 nominations for its 2010 season, the Muny received the most nominations of any theater for the sixth annual Kevin Kline Awards. The talks between Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols and the organization continues as the Spring Training deadline is three weeks away, and the time that Pujols and his representation has given to the organization before he decides whether to leave the team after the 2011 season and become a free agent. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported recently that talks have "yet to reach higher gear.” The paper also pointed out that club chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. recently said that "the club was willing to wait until after the season, if necessary, to retain its signature player."

Pujols’ team is seeking a 10-year, $300 million check.

++++++++++++++++

In other Cards newz, the organization have signed free-agent infielder Nick Punto to a one-year, $750,000 contract. Dallas high school basketball superstar Tony Mitchell won’t be attending Mizzou this winter season . When he signed on to play with Mizzou , unbeknownst to him, he was never certified by the NCAA. Thus, the NCAA ruled him ineligible earlier this month (with an appeal also upheld) when it was discovered fro an investigative report last summer in a Dallas TV News story, that during his senior year at Pinkston High School in Dallas, Tx., 14 of the credits he earned from Center of Life Academy, a Miami prep school were not transferable to Pinkston. As a result, he became a part qualifier because of the number of credits that did qualify him.

Plan B for Mitchell was attending a school that would qualify him in whole to play for the NCAA and his second choice was University of North Texas where he has enrolled as a student. In order for him to play b-ball, Mitchell will have to pass 24 credit hours at UNT before the end of the first semester of the 2011-12 school year. If he reaches that threshold, Mitchell would be eligible to play for the Mean Green starting in mid-December. As a part qualifier, Mitchell is not eligible to compete, practice or receive an athletic scholarship. He can receive financial aid based on need.

In a statement, Missouri coach Mike Anderson called Mitchell “an outstanding young man” who “has shown great resolve during a difficult situation.” “I’m very disappointed for Tony and his family,” Anderson said.

We are sure Mitchell will be fine. Its the beginning of his promising career and he will look back at this during his NBA years and see it as a bump in his travels to a NBA superstar. I mean, the focus during NCAA is academics anyway, because without such students cant play sports (and its not like they get paid so, what the hey)

Frequent St. Louis dweller R&B singer Ginuwine is part of a new video, literally, that he did not approve of that was shot in St. Louis recently. Ginuwine, who is set to release his second CD for the St. Louis based label Notifi Music Feb 15m titled, “Elgin” makes an unauthorized appearance in the music video, “Batteries” featuring Trina (who’s also in the video) that was directed by St. Louis videographer Dana Christian at the adults live entertainment venue Bottoms Up. It also stars adult film star Roxy Reynolds. Ginuwine reportedly appears in the video on a TV screen Reynolds is watching. His part is derived from excerpts from his past music videos. St. Lunatic members Kyjuan and Murphy Lee’s Freaky Muscato, is product palced in the video. On Twitter, Ginwuine tweeted, "Once again this video is not a video I approved. I have a wife and daughters and would never approve something as explicit as this. Thank you."

Oh, oh, sound like someone is about to get sued if the video producers didn’t get permission to make the video without the permission of Notifi Music. We saw the video and all we gotta say is be careful opening it at your job and fellas, is you got a weak heart, we advise you take your meds first. LOL

Club Amnesia, may be ready to close down as a judge revoked the liquor license this week for the second time, of the STL downtown nightclub once known as Lure, a move which could eventually close the club.

Municipal Judge Margaret J. Walsh, acting as city excise commissioner, reportedly ruled that a petition had been signed by 52 adjacent property owners, two more than required to close the Washington Avenue club. In Walsh's decision, she ruled in favor of the property owners on nearly every contested point.

The club now has 30 days to file an appeal of the ruling in circuit court, a city official said. The owners of the nightclub,The Trupiano Family, now called Amnesia, have said they intended to sell the business.

The ruling comes after months of city pressure on the nightclub, one of three criticized after various acts of violence occurred on or near the Washington Avenue bar district this year. Their license was revoked in October and was appealed by the owners..

We heard from a substantial source that the neighborhood group doesn't want a club in the spot where Club Amnesia currently is housed.

From a report from stltoday.com, The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center re-opened this week after being closed for several months due to mismanagement. Leaders from the East St. Louis School District reportedly gathered at the facility and announced they will lease the $6 million facility for $1. Joyner-Kersee built the youth center after raising money from corporations across the nation. But, by 2009, the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation, which was formed to oversee the center, laid off 32 people and closed its doors to most people. A major fundraiser was canceled that year after it was reportedly revealed the foundation paid more than $450,000 to an organization managed by her coach-turned husband Bob Kersee. Jackie Joyner-Kersee applauded the school district for leasing the facility at a ribbon cutting ceremony today.

"This is about a dream I have," Joyner-Kersee said. "When we were down and out, there were people that stepped forward."

The school district will staff the facility and pay utility bills.

St. Louis native movie producer Michael Beugg (FAR LEFT) , one of the backers behind the St. Louis filmed "Up in the Air" had planned to begin shooting his next movie in St. Louis this spring, but now it's unclear if the project will stay in Missouri after receiving approval for just $1 million out of the requested $4.5 million in state film tax credits. Beugg, is reportedly working on a Halloween-themed comedy called "Fun Size," set to be filmed in St. Louis. Josh Schwartz (PICTURED LEFT), the executive producer of Gossip Girl, has been tapped to be the film's director. But Kim Tucci, chairman of Cinema St. Louis reportedly said Beugg might take the film to another state such as Louisiana, which offers more generous tax credits, if Paramount Pictures is not happy with the level of tax credits Missouri is offering.

John Fougere, a spokesman for the state Department of Economic Development, which administers the tax credits, provided a copy of the letter sent to Paramount Pictures about the approval for $1 million in film tax credits but did not respond to a follow-up question about why the full request was not granted.

And in more Oprah talk show newz and guests, Joey Brown, executive producer in the promotions department and interim executive producer in the news department at KTVI (Channel 2) and KPLR (Channel 11), reportedly had a portion of his personal story told this week on Oprah Winfrey’s daytime talk show. Brown’s subject involved his growing up bullied over his sexuality and one day watched Oprah's show on National Coming Out Day in 1988 which gave him hope to move on. A friend asked him to write the show about his struggle and found out that Oprah's website had a write in for people if they had life-changing moments as the result of one of her shows. Brown wrote about his experience and a producer for Oprah reportedly called and interviewed him. Brown then sent a video of his story at the producer's request and said he saw a portion of it included on the show when he attended a taping of it in Chicago last week.

Brown said the show gave him one ticket to the show but had to get to the show at his own experience. So, he did taking the Amtrak and in his words, “ it worked out just fine. I had a lot of fun."

There is controversy brewing in the ST Louis rap scene involving battle rappers Aye Verb (RIGHT) and Big Will (FAR RIGHT). As reposted from STL hip-hop journalist B-Gyrl’s hip hop website, stlhiphop.com, she tried getting to the bottom of allegations that Aye Verb supposedly paid off Owe, who is the prioprieter of Street Status, the rap battle competition TV network, to get a copy of the video of the Midwest Massacre Pt 2 battle that took place in STL in early December between he and 106 and Park freestyle champ Big Will so it wont be seen on Street Status’ site because of allegations that Aye Verb actually lost. Also getting to the truth on whether the leak of this occurred after the near 15 minute video was finally seen on Street Status TV weeks after the competition (Jan 22 to be exact) .

In summary, B Gyrl contacted Owe via text after Aye Verb made a statement on Mr Marcus' Facebook page (Mr Marcus hosts a mixtape show on podcast) claiming he'd get the footage edited if he felt like he didn’t look like he was winning and Will responded why he would do that. Then , Aye Verb said, there wasn’t going to be any edits, and if he wanted to be dirty he could buy the footage and make that nite go away (but it was said jokingly from our reading of the posts in context).

On Xmas Day, B Gyrl tried texting Owe about Verb buying the footage. Here are the texts :

BGyrl: I'm hearing rumors that Verb is paying you off to keep the footage from coming out. Any truth to that?

Street Status: Wow!!! Things travel fast!!!

BG: yea or nay? Need an official statement, are you releasing the footage?

Street Status: Listen I haven't heard anything from will or verb! I'm going about my normal rituals!!!

BG: Thanks.

30 minutes later:

BG: After Verb's threat ppl are concerned about the integrity of the footage, may be edited in Verb's favor. Will their words be unedited from start to finish? Can you believe all this?

Street Status: Lmao!!! Is this an stLhiphop.com interview?

BG: after reading some of verb's statements people are hitting us us with their concerns, i ain't one to speculate so i get it straight from the horse's mouth. wow. i'm interviewing big will, if you wanna go on the record, holla.

Street Status: nahh lmao!

BG: Happy Holidays!

When B Gyrl thought this porton of the drama was over, she received txts from someone who was working behind the scenes to quell the rumors. That rep said “ "despite their displays of public stupidy - would u PLEASE remove their posts from any sites & and not offer any type of personal perspectives about it? "

B Gyrl smelled cover up. A few days later, she checked the stlhiphop hashtag on Twitter and stumbled upon a tweet from Aye Verb addressed to stlhiphop to which she responded.

In summation Ayeverb wanted B Gyrl to contact him about her allegations. B Gyrl wanted him to call her and that she wasn’t going into a tweet war with him and that what she has to say she says it on her website. Aye Verb said he wanst calling her and Bgyrl felt she was getting theatened. Aye verb told her don’t flatter herslef and B Gyrl said she He never did.

This week, Owe got on his facebook page talkingabout the battele she was working on and didn’t mention Ayeverb/Big Will’s. Then when Will asked when the footage was coming out, Owe responded: “Verb bought it nigga *evil laighter*

B Gyrl immediately txt'd Owe to ask if this was true, below are the txts...

BG: Aye Verb bought the footage? i hope this is a crazy rumor, i hope they neva battle again, this ish giving me a heart attack

Street Status: Moooooo hahahaha! (evil laughter) Lmao

As a result of Owe’s puzzling response, B Gyrl posted the following on her website:

“That brings us to where we are... I don't know if the footage will ever come out and I'm not going to play this little game with Owe or Aye Verb, nor will I be intimidated by anyone suggesting I'm slandering them. They hung themselves with their own words. Why should I coddle Owe or Aye Verb to ensure the footage comes out... and even if it does, how can anyone trust the integrity of the footage?

Verb said himself, he plays for the camera... he also said he'd buy the footage. Owe stated he did. How am I to trust any footage Street Status releases after this or any of their footage period? How do I not question their winners in the past? How am I not to think Verb may have paid someone for some shiesty camera work whenever I watch one of his past battles?

This is way bigger than Aye Verb and Street Status. This puts to question the integrity of our scene. Trust has been broken so many times in this city... by promoters who do shows claiming somebody will get signed, djs who play favorites, payola at the radio station, so called indie hip hop "media" willing to sell out to the highest bidder... this is no different, actually is it, its much worse.

Never has anyone displayed such a "I don't give a fuck how this impacts my city" attitude or been as public and as "Fuck St. Louis" as these two... talk about nerve...they publicly said what they were going to do....this isn't speculation, Verb wrote he'd buy the footage and Owe wrote he did, then had the nerve to get indignant about it when asked about it. Are we supposed to believe this is some build up to the release of the video? If so, its the worse case of pr ----> ever. Certain things you don't joke about and accepting a bribe is one of them.

As of this posting footage from other battles that night have been posted, but not the footage of Aye Verb vs Big Will and Street Status is already promoting its Valentines Day Massacre."

NOTE: The footage aired Jan 22.

Hmm, there is speculation all over this one. Who knows if Aye Verb tried to buy the the footage from Owe so it wouldn’t be aired (and from the cheers, Big Will was mos def the winner) . Only they know the true story. Our gut feeling is this was a publicity stunt that went bad. In other words, from stlhiphop’s caption involving its video release:, “IT WASN'T BECAUSE IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO!”

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ??????????????????????????

Why does it seem Prez Obama was giving his reelaction speech at the State of the Union address? Why does it seem if it wanst for the Tuscan tragedy, Obama’s approval ratings wouldn’t have went up? Why does it seem the drama isnt over on Oprah finding her long lost half sister? Why weren't there any people of color nominated for any major Oscars this year? Why is Hershchel Walker trying to return to football (akin to Evander Holyfield to boxing)? why do TV weather people call themselves meteorologists? Why did that mother go to jail because she wanted to transfer her daughter to another school and charegd with a felony? Why was is reported that Taco Bell only has 35 percent beef in their food? Why did Wash U choose Bristol Palin to talk about abstinence to students for its Sex Week? Why is Clint Eastwood remaking Star is Born with Beyonce? Why did Steve Harvey’s ex-wife go in on YOUTUBE about allegations of abuse from her? Why does it seem as though the media has scooped under the rug the mystery behind the death of that model inside August Busch's house last month? Why are people dogging Chciago Bears QB Jay Cutler for not returning into the Beras v Packers game? Why did New York Jets’ quarterback, Mark Sanchez, pick his nose on the sideline and wiped his booger on his teammate? And Why wont the doctors put Zsa Zsa gabor out of her misery?

BLACK REP BITZ

Pericles by William Shakespeare

THRU January 30, 2011

Directed by Andrea Frye

Bordellos & abduction, pirates & fisherman, tournaments & hurricanes, politics & intrigue, laughter & tears, loss & reunion, lies & treachery, death & miracles, exhilaration & sex, royalty & commoners, magic & mystery. Across oceans of time and distance, a royal family is torn apart and reunited in this sweeping epic of love, faith, and perseverance. Pericles moves in time through the Diaspora from the shores of pre-colonial Africa to the Caribbean, to New Orleans and twentieth-century Atlanta among others. With lively original music and dance, some of Shakespeare’s most beautiful language transports us from palaces to shipwrecks and storms at sea, to temples and bawdy houses in a panorama of breathtaking visual imagery creating a stunning metaphor for the African American experience.

The show will take place at Grandel Square Theatre in Grandel Square in St. Louis
