OUT 690--STL TIDBITZ

HELLO OUTTOWNERS! ITS WEDNESDAY--TIME TO GET TOWNED!
As we say goodbye to Summer and welcome the Fall, the world of entertainment from the ILLI and MO is still turning:

THIS WEEK IN A&E: The big news story locally is the red hot St. Louis Cardinals (ABOVE) who is just one game away from clinching the National League Central Division and secure a place in the playoffs next month. They could do it tonite, Wednesday during their series with the Houston Astros. The Cards won their second game against the Astros 11-2 Tuesday. The Cards' are 2 games ahead in 1st place and if the Cards sweep the Astros, and the Cubs lose their game against the Brewers, the Cards could win the NL Central division title and secure a place in the playoffs.

On a national-regional level, Chicago resident, President Barack Obama made an appearance on the David Letterman show Monday in New York where he was scheduled to participate in the United Nations General Assembly
Along with talking about wedge issues such as the controversial health care bill, the economy and the crisis in Afghanistan, he also bantered in comedy mainly on when Letterman had a bit with a woman in the audience who brought a heart-shaped potato to the show.
Obama told Letterman: "The main reason I'm here? I want to see that heart-shaped potato.” The woman tossed the potato to Letterman and the woman agreed to let Obama keep it.
The other highlight of the interview was when Letterman asked of whether some of the nasty reactions to his health care plan is because of racism and Obama quipped, “ "First of all, I think it's important to realize that I was actually black before the election," which cuased laughs and applause from the crowd. Then Letterman cleverly responded, “ "How long have you been a black man?"
CLASSIC.
The interview lasted the entire show. This was Obama’s sixth time on the show. The White House said it was a good way for him to get support for his health care plan.

In other Obama news, after the taping of Letterman, Obama was spotted going to his Manhattan hotel and sneaked out later in gym clothes and a baseball cap to a church across the street for some basketball with his White House aides.

To peep the interview go to:

And speaking of Obama, whassup with this new unaithorized book about President and First LAdy Obama's love life called "Barack and Michelle: Portrait of An American Marriage?" It supposedly talks about their probelsm they had inclduing trying to conceive, Barack's overriding political ambition causing a wedge between the two, and that he also has some bold female fans, who like to rub up against him in crowds and sometimes slip him their phone number and "on more than one occasion, Barack tried not to look startled when some random woman in the crowd would grasp him firmly by the derriere -- and sometimes try to hold on." After an appearance in Peoria, Ill., the future president slid into the back of his SUV, and allegedly said, "Jesus, I wish they'd stop grabbing my ass." WOW this is juicy for sure and will sell millions.
Well, if its true, at least the book is hinting on how the country is trying to deny he is a sexy man and, well--human.

Bravo channel’s original drama “Mad Men” did a repeat of last year (as did many winners this year) in winning Best drama (along with Best Writing in a Drama Series.) at this year’s Emmy Awards. The show led in nominations with 16 (tied with comedy “30 Rock” ) It’s star St. Louis native Jon Hamm (CENTER OF PIC) lost out the Best Actor in a Drama to Bryan Cranston for best actor in a drama for AMC’s “Breaking Bad.”
+++++++++++++++++
In other Emmy news with local ties, Lemay. Mo. Native actress and UMSL alum Phyllis Smith, who plays the dowdy Phyllis Lapin-Vance on the hit show “The Office,” had her silver metallic gown designed by Sydney’s Closet, a plus-size dress shop in St. Louis, a spot she window shops on occasion. To peep her dress go to

With the Cards getting raves for at the end of its season, the St. Louis Rams’ are struggling during its beginning season. The Rams lost its second game of the new NFL season losing to the Redskins 9 to 7 giving them a 0-2 record. We will see if the Rams can claim its first victory when they play its home opener in St. Louis this Sunday against the Green bay Packers. But from what sports experts are opinionated, it doesn’t look good for the Rams to win this either.

In more uplifting Rams newz, two of its players Will Witherspoon (LEFT) and Josh Brown (RIGHT)gave football tips to ladies in a workshop called Football University Monday held at the Russell Training Center where the Rams train. It was presented by Barnes-Jewish and Washington University Sports Orthopedics ─ Team Physicians for the St. Louis Rams. For their time, the ladies also will receive a tour of the locker room, two tickets to the Rams versus Vikings game on October 11, a Rams tote bag . The proceeds were given to the United Way.

In more uplifting STL sporting newz, The NCAA has named Saint Louis University as the host institution and the Edward Jones Dome as the site for a 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Regional. The three games will be played at the Edward Jones Dome Friday, March 23, and Sunday, March 25, 2012.

STL native singer Todd Sarvies survived yet another round on MTVs P Diddy’s Starmaker singing competition. Sunday, the episode featured the boys. Sarvies performed All American rejects’ “Move Along” and easily impressed the judges with his performance. Also on the episode, Sarvies’ ego is exposed by calling out contestants for not having original material like he does back in his hometown (WOW).

Last week, the Gateway Arch floodlights was turned off so birds can migrate at night and use the stars to navigate. The floodlights on the Arch caused the birds to be confused with the artificial lights and the height of the infrastructure. As a result of the problem, birds can temporarily lose their way, get exhausted and fall to the ground and many die in collisions with buildings and brightly lit windows. The lights will be turned of fat night for two weeks and will be lit again beginning in October.
Now if we can solve the homeless problem in the city we will be OK.

R&B heartthrob and Chitown native Willie Taylor of the group Day26 had to apologize to his fans via twitter and his own website about a hacker going into his email account and leaking of nude pics of his endowed penis on the web. The nude photos circulated last week and the singer, at first denied the photos (saying they were photoshopped) but quickly released a statement explaining that the photos were stolen and meant to be private between himself and his wife.

"It has been brought to my attention that private and personal photos of mine are currently circulating the web," Taylor said in the statement. "As a man that is barely home with his family, my wife and I share some intimate moments the best way that we can. It is incredibly disturbing that someone with bad intentions would illegally hack into my e-mail account and distribute these private moments to the world. I ask that everyone respect the privacy of my family. Also, I offer my sincere apologies to my fans.”

Hmm. Well our thing is, who was the hacker? Did they know him and his account? All this will do is spark more interested to the chart fledging band (And its obvious Taylor is the star of the group) . In this day and age of sex scandals and video tapes creating instant stars, this scandal will only breed more popularity and minutes in the spotlight (and Taylor’s inevitable exodus from the band ). We wonder if he will make a comment about the nudie pics when he and his group performs with Trey Songs and Mario next month at the Pageant?

Well, it look likes its back on stage for Chitown rapper Kanye West coheadlining with Lady Gaga in the FAME KILSL tour. They are reportedly confirmed for Scottrade Center in St. Louis on Dec. 4, with tickets going on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 3 (He is scheduled to perform at U of I in November with jay Z as well) .
The tour at first looked in doubt after West’s outburst at the MTV Video Music Awards recently with his now infamous rip on stage during award winner Taylor Swift’s speech and taking her microphone and said Beyonce. He mentioned on Jay Leno’s debut new show last week that he wanted to take some time off. So, apparently he will do such thing after the tour.

In unrelated Kanye newz, according to reports sent by pro wrestling insiders to MediaTakeOut.com, Vince McMahon and the WWE have offered Kanye close to $10 million to show up at 3 events – two television appearances and one pay-per-view event. Word is that if he accepts the offer, Kanye would have to do some “light wrestling.” And get this, MediaTakeOut.com is hearing that Kanye is seriously considering it.
Hey, if this is true, Kanye can have an outlet to make all the outbursts due to the fact that wrestlers always boasting about how great they are. Right???

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ.

Why was actor Patrick Neil Harris’ the only entertaining person on the Emmys this year? Why did comedian and Emmy nominee Sarah Silverman wear a mustache in the crowd? Why did the black students in that now infamous Belleville West bus fight get expulsion for 2 years? (Isnt that a bit harsh?) Why did singer Macy Gray say on Dancing with the Stars say "I feel like I finally busted my cherry" after she danced? Why does it seem like she doesn’t want to be there? Why did President Obama make a bit out of the woman who had the small heart shaped potato during David Letterman’s interview on Monday? Why did Lil mama apologize to Jay Z after her drive by on his performance with Alicia Keys on the MTV VMA’s? (Doesn’t it seem like more 15 minutes for her to do that?) Why hasn’t anyone thought about getting KMJM radio personality Tammie Holland her own talk show? And, again, why hasn’t Fox 2 news/WESL Radio’s Rob Desir yet to get a Facebook page? LOL

St. Louis Rhythm & Blues Preservation Society – a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve, recognize, and promote the R&B heritage of the St. Louis region. Founded by local businessman, entrepreneur, and longtime civic leader Reginald D. Dickson(and the owner of the favorite pre-theater dining restaurant, Reggie’s Backstage, located directly across the street from the Fox Theatre in Grand Center.), the Society’s vision is to be St. Louis’ preeminent organization for R&B performances, education, and preservation activities. It also aims to increase the community’s knowledge and appreciation of the major role played by St. Louis in the advancement of R&B music.

To fulfill its vision, the St. Louis Rhythm & Blues Preservation Society will establish a performance venue for local and nationally-recognized R&B artists. It will also develop programs to educate individuals – young and old – about R&B. The Society also has future plans to develop a museum to archive and document the history of R&B and its existence in St. Louis, which was a locus for the musical form throughout the mid 1900s. At the helm of the Society is executive director Cornelius Washington, who holds 20 years experience working with non-profit organizations in the Midwest in program management and fund raising.

The finished product will be a space that operates both as a performance venue for the St. Louis Rhythm & Blues Preservation Society as well as a fully functional restaurant. The Society, as a non-profit organization with its own board of directors, will operate independent of Reggie’s Backstage. For Pre-Paid Legal members, access to legal counsel is only a toll-free phone call away. Call to set up your appointment.Office: (314) 837-6779 Cell Patrinna: (314) 581-9888 Cell Eric: (314) 713-7803
