OUT 871--ILLI MO (A&E) BITZ (UPDATES)

HEY OUTTOWNERS! TIME TO GET TOWNED!

HERES THE BIG STORIES GOIN ON THIS WEEK: The 12 jury members are still undecided on the 24 counts against former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojaveich. They deliberate again today, Thursday on the 12th day of deliberating ( A decision seem like its hours away. OUTTOWN will update if necessary)

Yesterday, Wednesday the jury was deadlocked in an unanimous decision in the Dirskens Federal Building court sending a note sent to the judge: "In a situation when a jury cannot agree on a unanimous decision on given counts, what should the next step be?" The jury said its "gone beyond reasonable attempts" to reach an agreement. Judge James Zagel told the jury to keep trying... but nobody outside the courtroom knows how long that will be.

Zagel apparently did tell the jury that it was okay to agree on some charges if not all, but he wants to know specifically which counts the jury has deadlocked on.

Hmm, just like we predicted. A hung jury seem like will be the outcome.

UPDATE: As of 12 this afternoon CST, the jurors reportedly have reached agreement on just two of 24 counts against him. The judge says he'll tell them to go back and deliberate some more.
The jurors said they have not discussed 11 counts of wire fraud. They indicated they have discussed the remaining 11 counts and appear to be deadlocked on them.

The big A&E newz story this week was also the biggest STL story when Gateway to Greatness Fight came through the Scottrade Center in St. Louis last Saturday. Over 9,000 ticketers came out to the HBO Boxing After Dark televised event as seven fights were presented (two televised). The main event, caused controversy over whether remaining champ Devon Alexander ‘The Great’ actually won the fight over former champion Ukranian Andriy Kotelnik. The 116-112 scorecards from many experts point of view did not reflect the actual 12 round fight.
Following his win Alexander went on record that “the fight was tougher than he expected and called himself his own worst critic.”

The co-main event was the IBF Light Heavyweight fight between avenging champ Tavoris Cloud and former champ Glen Johnson. Cloud won and the fight went the entire twelve rounds.
The big news occurred in biggest non-televised fight that night with the Light Juniorweight fight as Cornelius ‘K-9’ Bundrage TKOd former champ and ST Louis native Cory Spinks in the 5th round (his sixth lost) Bundrage came off punching non stop.
In attendance of the fight were boxing champs Floyd Mayweather Jr., Evander Holyfield, and members from the St. Louis Rams. And of course Don King and ring announcer Michael Lets Get Ready to Rumble Buffer.
No information on the ratings from the Gateway to Greatness fight was given as of this blogging.
FOR MORE PICS and RECAP of the FIGHT GO TO http://maatology.blogspot.com/2010/08/out-868-gateway-to-greatness-fight-and.html

Overall the fight put St Louis back on the map as a city that can host. The fights itself were exciting and thrilling but it is interesting that its headliner Devon Alexander seemed to be more of an invitee to the party and not the host if a get what we are saying. The fight wasn’t about Alexander, it was about the Don King machine coming to the STL and all the players attached to it .

In related news, Devon Alexander held up a tee shirt after his interview in the ring Saturday at Scott Trade that read, “Bradley You're Next,’ alluding to the possible fight plan to fight Tim Bradley next. According to reports, Don King could sign Bradley up by next week and another HBO televised fight that could be set for Jan, 29, 2011.

Hmm, could this be another STL event? Only time will tell.

STL native California Congresswoman Maxine Waters is set for an ethics trial but there's no date set as to when it will actually take place. In a nutshell, the House Ethics Committee in Washington D.C. is questioning her role in acquiring $12 million dollars from the Treasury Department in 2008 to help minority banks in her representative state, one being One United that was ran by her husband, former NFL star (star linebacker in the 1960s for the Cleavland Browns, Washington redskins, Baltimore Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers) and ambassador to the Bahamas(appointed by President Bill Clinton) Sidney Williams, who served as a member of the OneUnited's board of directors from 2004 to 2008. When the stock fell from One United, it was rescued by some of the monies Waters’ garnered from the Treasury Department.
In a recent interview done by political analyst Roland Martin on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Waters said that she wants to go forward with the trial and hasn’t done any wrongdoing. She also said she didn’t know when the trial would start but couldn’t see it happening until after the November elections. Martin concluded that Waters wont face jail tie, but maybe a censuring ( reprimand) if proven guilty.

First ethics charges on NY Congressman Charlie Rangel now Waters, both are members of the Congressional Black Caucus, both Democrats, during a midterm year. Hmmm, Republican plot? Possibly. All we see is Waters helped minority bankers. So she was supposed to not help black bankers just because her husband was over one of the banks. Come on, the Good Ol Boys Club does it all the time helping their own in time of crises with funding on projects. But as they say, its OK for them, Not OK for “them others.”

Looks like Chicago bred superstar rapper Kanye West is about to get another chance with MTV.
UsWeekly.com reports he has been booked to perform at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards Sept 12 in Los Angeles. West who has done an image makeover of sorts with his impromptu visits to Facebook and Rolling Stone headquarters spitting out lyrics to his newest songs from his upcoming CD, is going back to the event that reporters called “ Getting Kanyed” last year when West stormed the VMA stage and stole the microphone from Taylor Swift's hands after beating out Beyoncé for the Best Female Video award. The fiasco caused a near Kanye gate of his music and his removal from Lady Gaga’s fame Kills tour.
To show no hard feelings, MTV premiered his "Power" music video after "Jersey Shore." "Thank you MTV for letting for putting POWER right after your #1 show," West tweeted last week shortly before the "Power" premiere. "IFEELTHELOVE! ... and thanks for the 2nd I mean 3rd ok 4th chance!!!"
I mean, really? MTV is all about ratings and they probably hope Ye does another crash on the stage. That’s just more publicity for MTV. Feel me? Don’t get it twisted.

UPDATE: Billboard reported yesterday, that West premiered his new "See Me Now" song, featuring Beyoncé and Charlie Wilson, and revealed that his album " Dark Twisted Fantasy (formerly known as Good Ass Job)" will be released on Nov. 16 during an interview with New York radio station WQHT (Hot 97).

Former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen will be inducted into the NBA Hall of fame this Friday on Springfield, Massachusetts. And he’s bringing “Batman” to give him away—his former teammate Michael Jordan, an inductee last year, hence a current inductee presents the new inductee into the club. Pippen will be inducted twice (as did Jordan) as a Chicago Bullser and as part of the historic 1992 Dream team at the Olympics . Pippen led the Bulls to six NBA titles in the 1990s.

The late Chitown native comic/actor Bernie Mac’s widow is suing the comic’s dermatologist in a wrongful death suit filed last week. She claimed that the doctor could have saved Mac if he knew how to treat her husband . According to TMZ, McCullough filed last week in a Chicago Circuit Court – and claims Dr. Rene Earles had a chance to save the comedian during a routine checkup ... but "failed to recognize and act upon abnormal vital signs and signs of respiratory failure and failed to properly diagnose Bernie with pneumonia and send the comic to the hospital ... and according to her, the mistake directly led to the funnyman's death in August 2008. Earles told the
Chicago Sun-Times it ain't his fault -- he claims Bernie had a bad allergic reaction to another doctor's injection once the comedian was hospitalized.McCullough wants at least $50,000 in damages in the wrongful death suit.

We are still grieving the death of a comedic genius who died two -years ago this week We just wonder why it took his widow two years to file?

ST. Louis Cardinals general manager Tony LaRussa is still waiting on the baseball commissioners to issue punishment to HIM and two Cincinnati Reds players during the brawl that occurred Monday night when his team played in "The Natti."

UPDATE: Larussa got a two game suspension and fined an undiscloed amount of money (along with Reda manager Dusty Baker) for the brawl.

Cards players Chris Carpenter (UPDATE: WHO WAS FINED BUT NOT SUSPENDED)and Jason LaRue

got kicked by

Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto during a first-inning brawl that delayed the game for seven minutes.
UPDATE: Cueto was fined seven games and a fine, but the Reds camp are crying foul that he fought in self defense who reportdley first got shoved to the backstop.

AND

La Russa also voiced support for the role played by catcher Yadier Molina(UPDATE: WHO WAS FINED BUT NOT SUUSPENDED), after challenging Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips (UPDATE: WHO WAS FINED BUT NOT SUSPENDED)after Phillips' tapped Molina's shin guards as he stepped into the box to begin the home first.

Oh and the Cards swept the Reds in its series as well.

The late Zion, Illinois native TV star
Gary Coleman's Utah home went up for sale recently. It is selling for over 300,000 but according to reports, the house needs $7,500 in repairs.
The courts administered the sale but his ex wife Shannon Price is trying to fight the sale in hopes of purchasing it herself. In June, she was reportedly evicted from the home after it was determined that she wasn't named in Coleman's legally recognized will.
Price's lawyer has told E! News that she and Coleman were
technically common-law spouses and she should be in line for his estate.

But Coleman’s estranged parents are also trying to get the house as well.
We think neither Price nor his parents should attain it. It should be shrined ala Graceland and have the city pay for the keep up. Have it as a tourist attraction.

On Monday, the season finale of NBC’s”Last Comic Standing,” took place and Benton, Illinois native Tommy Johngain had to settle for 1st runner up as winner Felipe Esparza took home the $250,000 prize. All is not lost, Johnagin will be part of the Last Comic Standing Tour and just like all other reality show competitions, the runner up usually becomes a bigger star than the actual winner.

St. Louis’ superstar rap mogul Nelly made his debut as a radio dee-jay Wednesday as he began his month long stint with Hot 104.1 temporally replacing Staci Static during the weekday 3 p.m. to 7 p.m slot while she is on maternity leave.

Nelly was chosen by the station’s program director, Mickey J who felt Nelly was the perfect fit and had the star power to keep the ratings afloat. Or in his reported words, “Someone not to replace Staci but (someone) who could continue to drive the ratings and make it interesting."
From reports, the station was in talks with Nelly late July and Static had a vote on her replacement.

Based on the first show, Nelly will play songs, talk between songs, and interview people (the first show had the station’s radio personality and comic Rickey Smiley call up).

Many people were in disbelief that he was actually on air when they called the station on Wedensday .

He did make the rado listerners aware that he wasn’t an expert and forgive him if he fouls up on ocassion while on air.

Mickey J also let it be known that Nelly won’t get too serious in the discussions nor do any self plugola of his upcoming CD “5.0” which has now been pushed back from September to November according to Nelly during one of his talk breaks on the first show.

Hmm, it should be interesting how listeners will take Nelly as a radio host. Will his stint there be more of a novelty then wear off quickly or a huge hit as big ratings getter. Based upon folks’ reaction to Nelly after OUTTOWN did a brief poll of Nelly’s performance they approved and thought he did a nice job.

In unrelated news, word out is Nelly is coming out with a fitness video.

================================================

Also making news this week is Nelly's former bandmate Slo Down , ex-member for the St. Lunatics who blasted Nelly for shady business tactics and bandmember Ali giving him an ultimatum--your wife or the group.

In a recent interview with XXL, Slo Down told the hip-hop magazine that back when the group was in its prime, Nelly took half of the earnings.

"I might fuck around and get emotional talkin' about all how that money was getting split up. Shit was crazy," he said. "Niggas was eatin' and I wasn't one of them niggas. I was snackin'… I was lunchin', having lunch every now and then, and niggas was having four course meals and aint have shit to do with shit…Whatever we did, Nelly got half of that shit and the rest of the group split [the other half] up…And when it came to splitting the money I wasn't part of the rest of the group…I ain't write no lyrics or nothing but…I brought more to the stage show, [and] to the image."

Nelly has yet to comment on Slo’ Down’s accusations.
UPDATE: Nelly responded via Twitter saying ," I wish I an make a million dollars wearing just a mask on stage. I hate ungreateful pimps. You dont write. You dont rap! You dont stay in the studio until the song is done. Still make a half million."

Hmm, guess theres two sides to every story.
Slo Down also commented on how he left the group. According to him, he was given the choice--either leave your wife or leave the group. Slo didnt reinterate too much on why the ultimatum popped off but we heard from a source that it was from word getting to Ali that SloDown's wife was snitchin to outsiders about his bandmembers' estranged first marriage to Lillian (whom he eventually divorced and is now remarried) and the wives got into a fight about it. .

Here is the video:
http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshheq2EHoo4xrba7fZj

We knew sooner of later the mystery of Slo Down's departure in the group had to be addressed. It seemed as though after City Spud returned to the group in 2008 after his stint in prison, Slo Down was kicked to the curb and there was no explanation. Slo Down, who is currently employed at Club Fitness in the Delmar Loop selling memberships, played an integral part with the St. Lunatics. He was like a silent Flavor Flav--a hypeman on stage with a trademark brand(the mask). And after he left, the group's dynamic changed drastically. Lets hope one day all six of them will return on stage just for old time sake.

Last month, Disney teen heartthrob Zac Efron was in St Louis to promote "Charlie St. Cloud," as over 2,000 screaming teens filled the parking lot of the Ronnie's Cine on South Lindbergh.

2009 American Idol runner up Adam Lambert performed before a sold out crowd last week at the Pageant and according to a review by St.Louis Post Dispatch’s Kevin Johnson, he was a hit with mostly the middle age Walmart shoppers who attended.

According to Johnson, “ Over the course of about 15 songs that mixed "For Your Entertainment" selections with covers he revitalized on "American Idol," Lambert delivered a fun, slick show that kept his fans, a curious older batch of folks, on their feet most of the night.

Save for an innocent kiss of a male band member during the Gaga-penned "Fever," there was none of the shenanigans we saw on the "American Music Awards" last year, where his more overt sexual antics on stage made headlines and cost him a job or two. Lambert's big moments, featuring that wail you either love or hate, was in full force on songs such as "Fever," "Sure Fire Winners" and "Music Again." When Lambert rocks, he rocks, and there's no holding back that theatrically trained voice."

We just find it interesting that Lambert can get away with being openly gayand expressing it on stage and his audience is made up of mostly mothers of teens who probably get punished by the same moms for having sex or doing other lascivious behavior while under their roof.

Huda made big headlines earlier this year when she was let go from her anchoring at KSDK in January after she and the station couldn’t come to terms of renegotiating her contract (aka CHA-CHING). In her contract, there was a gag order where she couldn’t get rehired at another station on air for six months. Well, those six months were up after July.

She reportedly has been has been working off the air at the station for a few months on special projects such as "News 4 on the Road," and has some special reports in the can that are due to begin airing in September. In other words, she was hired by KMOV during her gag order, she just couldn’t be on air at KMOV.

CELEB-SITE--Boxing promoter Don King and boxing superstar

Last week was Fight Week in St. Louis culminating with the Gateway to Greatness Fight at ScottTrade Center. well, a good source had dinner with King, Mayweather and severalother trainers and members of the King camp at Carmine's inside the Drury Inn near the Arch dining on lobster and other expensive treats after midinite. King wanted to give Mayweather supposedly 20 million up front and then take home another 20 million. From what our source could see, mayweather still didnt bite and kep on eating the food he was eating.

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ????????????????????????????????????????????

Why was Fantasia found in a closet after her overdose? And why didn’t her PR people help spin her image as a homewrecker? Why is Prince saying the Internet is dead? Why is Levi Johnston, Sarah Palin’s daughter’s baby daddy, getting a reality show? Why does it seem NFL star and reality show star Chad Ochocinco only picked white women on her dating competition show? And why is Ocho and new teammate Terrell Owens calling themselves Batman (T.O) and Robin (Ocho) ? Why did that JetBlue attendant, deploy the inflatable chute on that plane when she had a raging moment, then drank a beer before jumping off the plane? And why were there protest signs made by protestors when the attendant went to jail? Why is he made a hero for the disgruntled worker? And why is Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels tryin to get him on to host his show? Why did Don King say “get nekkid, get nekkid, get nehkkid” to the boxers before the Weigh In was about to start at Kiener Plaza? And why wasn’t there a large turnout at the Weigh In? Why were the auxiliary press members given nosebleed to cover the fight at Scott Trade Center? Why did boxer Tavoris Cloud’s mother kept screaming out “Beat his ass!” during his fight with opponent Glen Johnson at the fight? And why did Cornelius Bundrage had to beat Cory Spinks so bad to the point of throwing him through the ropes? Why didn’t singer Trey Songz perform the National Anthem at the fight? Why are some Washington critics frowning on First lady Michelle Obama’s trip to Spain? Why didn’t Omarosa pick to date on her reality show Ray Lavender tell her that he was still married? And why does it seem there are a number of trucks getting into accidents on St Louis highways?
