These lists will be used for the year end tally countdown that OUTTOWn posts in December. Check out the lists starting at

http://maatology.blogspot.com/2011/11/top-stl-news-stories-of-2011-as-of-dec.html

. You can make your choices as the top stories and mover and shakers in the comment box at that blog post. FYI. The Year Tallies will be posted on the week of Dec 26!

THE BIG A&E STORY THIS WEEK IS:

It is rumored that talk show host and Oprah BFF Gayle King reportedly offended the talk show mogul when she recently decided to leave Oprah’s OWN network to become a part of the CBS morning crew recently.

“Oprah is terribly hurt that Gayle could be so ungrateful,” a source told the National Enquirer. “She begged Gayle not to go, but Gayle said she just couldn’t pass up the opportunity of a lifetime…. and I think she stunned Oprah when she kept saying, ‘It’s a major network!’”

Gayle’s decision to jump ship at OWN came shortly after she interviewed 50 Cent on her show.

Despite the rumors about Oprah’s issues with Gayle’s decisions, the media mogul released a statement in which she wished her friend well.

“We are so happy for Gayle’s opportunity of a lifetime,” the network said in a statement. “She’ll be a fantastic host for the new morning show on CBS, and we wish her all the best.”

We are sure on a personal level, Oprah must be hurt by this especially after what she has done for King, but it was reported that King wanted to fulfill her dream to anchor on a national network. And theres no guarantees—even with OWN we hate to say, but now the question is, will the new CBS Show last? If not, ,will Oprah bring her back to OWN?

The 54th Annual Grammy awards nominations were announced Wednesday during a special GrammyConcert thataire don CBS. Leadingthe mods was Chicgao bred rapper Kanye West with seven nods including Song of The Yearand Rap Song (for “All of the Lights”) and Rap Album for “Watch The Throne” (withJay Z) and his own “MyBeautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.” Coming in second in nomination was singer Adele with six. Other highlighted ILLI MOians who got nominated were Chicagoans rapper Lupe Fiasco and R Kelly with three and two in the rap and R&B categories respectively, Oak Park ,Ill natives actress Betty White and comedian KathyGriffin for Spoken Word and CoemdyAlbum respectively and East St.Louisan jazz artist/instructor Ron Carter for Best Improvised Jazz Solo. St Louis production duo Foxx Starstruck was nominated indirectly for Best Comedy Album for their production contribution on Lonely Island’s CD, “Turtleneck and Chain.” The Grammy Awards will be aired on CBS Feb 12.

Critics are scratching their heads as to why Kanye wasn't nominated for Album of The Year for his critically acclaimed "Fantasy"CD but Rihanna was for her CD,"Loud"???? Well,it wouldnt be the Grammies without some HUH reaction. LOL

And speaking of the live Grammy Nominations concert,

Chicago native rappers Common, and Lupe Fiasco joined in with rap originators, Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, and Scorpio for a one-of-a-kind performance of the seminal rap song, The Message. The special performance took place to honor the recording's recent addition to the 2012 Grammy Hall of Fame. LL Cool J, who hosted the event also joined in the performance.

Hip-hop artist Vince P was in court again on his claim that Kanye West stole a phrase from him, even though it was made famous by Nietzsche the 19th century German philosopher But in court papers defending against a copyright-infringement case, West claims that Nietzsche was the inspiration for some of the lyrics in his megahit "Stronger."

Or anyway, he's arguing that since the phrase came from Nietzsche (originally: "That which does not kill us makes us stronger"), the plaintiff in the case, Vincent Peters, can't claim it as his own.

Vince P -- has already lost one round in federal court; this is an appeal. He claims that he gave a copy of his song, also called "Stronger" to Kanye West's manager, John Monopoly. . Two other similarities between in the songs: they both rhyme "stronger" with "wronger" in otherwise very different lines, and they both refer to supermodel Kate Moss. The district judge earlier declared that none of those things are copyrightable.

Hmmm. we got a feeling Mr P may try to hit US Supreme Court on this matter. We dont think he's going away until he finds a judge to side with him!

Media rumors have been swirling with the news that Chicago native actress LisaRaye (“Single Ladies”) is marrying Bishop Noel Jones, pastor of megachurch City of Refuge.

The romantic rumor was started by Media Take Out, which reported that Raye and Jones have been quietly dating for a while before Jones allegedly popped the question. Raye has occasionally been spotted at Jones’ Gardena, CA church.

It is also reported that the two were even shopping a reality show to the networks called “Keeping up with the Joneses.” The show would star Jones, who is the brother of singer Grace Jones. He has apparently expressed interest in aspirations beyond the pulpit.

But one of LisaRaye’s representatives stated that the rumor is false and is quoted as saying, “That is not correct, she is not engaged.”

LisaRaye also seemed to be surprised by the rumor and wrote on Twitter:

“Come on y’all. If I was engaged you would see a ring first of all, and it wouldn’t be a secret because I would be happy.”

Here’s LisaRaye in yet another rumor mill. First it was her and stacy Dash bickering and fighting supposedly leading to Dash’s exit from the series “Single Ladies.” After the first season Now this. We are sure it is a sight to see Lisaraye in the pews of his TV centic church (that we attended as a visitor in 2006) and folk gossiping away as they are praising the Lord.. And as they say, if they are dating, we are sure she is getting something out of it even if it isn’t a ring.

Pop singer Demi Lovato unintentionally added a new move to her choreography for the song “All Night Long” when she pulled out one of her extensions during a concert in Kansas City last week on her Unbroken Tour.

The singer, 19, reportedly got her ring caught in her hair while she whipped her hair around during Missy Elliot’s verse in “All Night Long.” The singer, though handled her minor hair malfunction like a true professional. She continued with the choreography as she held on to the loose lock until it fell from her hand and clothes.

THE BIG STL NEWZ STORY THIS WEEK IS :

Free agent Albert Pujols was in Chicago this week to entertain offers that the Chicago Cubs had in regards to the possible signing of the baseball superstar. tESPN reported the Chicago Cubs are in the market for Pujols. Rumors of this possible joining occurred earlier this year when when the Cards played against the Cubs in mid-May, when a picture of then-general manager Jim Hendry hugging Pujols during batting practice made waves among fans of both teams.

Hendry was fired three months after that. Current manager former Boston Red Sox GM Theo Epstein is now in talks with Pujols. The Chicago Sun-Times reported Epstein has been given permission by Cubs top brass to pursue Pujols as well as Prince Fielder. Both men play first base. Critics say the problem is that Pujols and Fielder are both in the National League Central Division.

Many are saying this is a ploy of Pujols being coaxed by the Cubs, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Pujols starts wearing another “C” on his jersey.

THE PIC OF PUJOLS in A CUBS JERSEY IS A PHOTOSHOPPED PIC. LOL

Controversial radio personality JC Corcoran was suspended this week on KTRS (AM-550), where he has a daily show, after ranting on Twitter from tweeters who called him out for his prediction that Albert Pujols would sign a new contract with the Cardinals on Nov. 18. as a result of the back and forthin, KTRS suspended him for two weeks and he will return the week of Dec 12. Subsitute radio people at KTRS are filling his time noon to 3pm time slot at the moment.

Corcoran reportedly went on at some length on his website about the "agenda" local media outlets — such as the Post-Dispatch and Riverfront Times — have had against him for years. He did not address the question of whether he had been suspended.

"

Yeah, it's the same old fights, same old stuff," Corcoran said. "It's just the new technology." He said he is provoked by "these little slimes that buzz around ... little knuckleheads," who are trying to create trouble by poking at him during slow news times.

"They see me taking somebody's head off and they go ahead and publish it," he said of the media. "Well, that's not how I treat people. That's how I treat creeps."

We are sure that Cochoran is playing this smart because KTRS knew what they were getting into by hiring him. Cochran is like the STL version of Howard Stern and the more controversial he is, the more people will listen to him. Cochran did mention on one of his last shows before his suspension was that The Cardianals organization would likely push back a supposed press conference to publicly announce Pujols’ re-signing with the Cards just to spite him. Well, no press conference took place and now he is suspended collecting pay. We wonder if it was a strategy for Pujols to visit Chicgao Cubs organization this week just to elongate the actual announcement that Cochran claim his sources are correct on? Hmm.

This week Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver sold the team to the Pakistani born and Illinois resident Shahid Khan (PICTURED). Khan owns an automotive parts company called Flex-N-Gate Corp and was in play to buy the St. Louis Rams when they were for sale previously. According to previous reports, the team will remain in Jacksonville. In 2010, Khan had entered into an agreement to buy 60% of the St. Louis Rams, but minority owner Stan Kroenke had the ability to match the offer and he did, ultimately buying the franchise.

Illinois State coach Greg Schiano again finds his name linked with a major opening. Though the Chicago Tribune, citing unidentified sources, reported on Monday night that Schiano is on the list of candidates to replace Ron Zook at Illinois, the Big Ten school has made no contact — formal or otherwise — to discuss its coaching vacancy with him, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.

According to reports, Anheuser-Busch has pulled out of the annual New Year's Day event in Pasadena, California, bringing an end to a longtime tradition of the horses pulling the Budweiser float. The company says it notified parade organizers in May that it intended to invest only in sponsorships and events more likely to reach beer drinkers. Anheuser-Busch had been involved in the parade for nearly a century, and the clydesdales have been pulling a float since 1953.

According the social media arenas, last Friday’s comedy show featuring Katt Williams at the Chaifetz arena was quite disappointing. Many on the social network sites reported that Williams bombed on stage and wasn’t really funny. He also told a joke about opening act Faison Love who was a no show saying that Love felt Williams needed him to sell tickets and demanded more on his rider. When his demands were denied he was dropped from the bill. The other opener Charlie Murphy also was a no show. There was no explanation as of why he did not perform but from a source he had supporters and people who traveled to St Louis to see him perform. Unknown comics filled in for the no shows one being Chaunte Wayans, the niece to the Wayans Brothers. And from what I hear the new opening acts were quite funny—even funnier than Williams.

Wow ..guess you cant underestimate talent...
