THE BIG A&E NEWZ STORY THIS WEEK IS

President Barack Obama turned the White House into a country music hall on Monday, inviting an array of country stars for a concert that gave voice "to the emotions of everyday life."

Cowboy hats and bolo ties mixed with the majestic chandeliers of the East Room for a toe-tapping series of performances by Dierks Bentley, Alison Krauss, Lyle Lovett, Kris Kristofferson, Darius Rucker, James Taylor, The Band Perry, Lauren Alaina and Micky.

Obama said country music tied together many threads of the nation's immigrant heritage, from the Irish fiddle, the German dulcimer, the Italian mandolin, the Spanish guitar and the West African banjo

Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, watched from the front row to a set list of country music past and present.

Obama said the concert was a fitting tribute to the impact of country music on American life. Since first running for president, Obama said, "I've hopped on planes to big cities. I've ridden buses through small towns. And along the way, I've gained an appreciation for just how much country music means to so many Americans."

In 2009, Mrs. Obama created a White House music series that has celebrated jazz, country, classical, Motown and Latin music.

"Country Music: In Performance at the White House" will be broadcast Wednesday at 8 p.m. EST on PBS stations and shown at a later date on the American Forces Network to military service personnel around the world.

First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden were grand marshals NASCARseason finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway recently, appearing as part of their charitable campaign to support military veterans and their families.

But their benign, bipartisan cause wasn’t enough to prevent public fallout from the nation’s polarized political climate as they were introduced before the crowd.

ESPN video from the event documented loud boos from some in the stands as the announcer named Obama and Biden, seconds before they delivered the “most famous words in motorsports,” telling drivers to start their engines.

The pair — who co-chair the Joining Forces initiative — stood beside retired Army Sgt. Andrew Barryand his family. Barry was wounded in action in Iraq and Afghanistan, retired from the military in 2009 and now volunteers at an Orlando veterans center, the announcer said. He received resounding applause.

A source traveling with the first lady downplayed the incident, telling ABC News there was no discernible booing during the “loud chaotic program with jets flying over and tons of noise.”

The Associated Press reported that the two women received a standing ovation at the pre-race meeting with drivers, during which Obama said NASCAR was “amazing in terms of its support, not just today but every day, for military families.”

Before the race, the first lady addressed a barbeque for military families that NASCAR had invited to the event.

“Everyone around the country is focused on you.

The negative reaction from fans was first reported by Mediaite.

We guess some folk are trying to make a statement about President Obama, but actually it’s the folk they put in Congress that are tying his hands from doing anything—and the FLOTUS has nothing to do with that.

Chicago reared media mogul Oprah Winfrey announced this week that she will be back on television next year with her new show “Oprah’s Next Chapter.”

“I am having more fun than ever,” Winfrey told E! Online, also explaining that her new Oprah Winfrey Network show will show her interviewing interesting people around the globe.

Winfrey said in a statement, “After 25 years I got myself out of the studio chairs. It is so energizing to be out and about in the world exploring new people, new places and new ideas.”

“Oprah’s Next Chapter” will debut Jan. 1 at 9 PM ET. The two-hour premiere will feature an in-depth interview with Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler. Other celebrities, such as actor Sean Penn, director/producer George Lucas and motivational speaker Tony Robbins are lined up for future episodes.

Winfrey has visited Haiti with Penn, received a guided tour of the Skywalker Ranch from Lucas, and viewers will watch Winfrey have stay the night at chef Paula Deen’s Georgia estate and visit a small Iowa town devoted to the practice of Transcendental Meditation.

Reports suggest that Winfrey’s return to television is being made in hopes to improve her OWN’s ratings, which have been less than impressive thus far.

Let’s hope this works. We think she should have done this at the start because she is the brand.

Adopted Chicagoan, NBA legend and Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan has drawn the scorn of NBA players past and present over the last few months, thanks to his hard-line, anti-player stance in the league's ongoing labor negotiations.

The reason the 2011-2012 NBA season remains hogtied is because the owners refuse to negotiate with the players. While the owners fitted their final offer with a still-preposterous 50/50 split of the BRI (it was 57/43 for the players under the previous agreement), Jordan argued the players' share must be even lower, no higher than 47 percent.

Michael Jordan -- champion capitalist -- was now fighting to slash player salaries by as much as possible.

Not surprisingly, Jordan has been deemed a hypocrite and a sell-out by more than one current player but one prominent NBA player still has Jordan's back, though. Miami Heat All-Star guard and Chicagoan Dwyane Wade, one of Jordan Brand's major marketing faces, expressed his loyalty to his sneaker boss in an interview with the Sun-Sentinel on Thursday.

When Wade refers to the fact that he wears a "different hat" than the players critical of Jordan, what he actually means is that he has his own very popular signature shoe with Jordan and that he is compensated handsomely for it. In 2007, BusinessWeek.com reported that Wade was pulling in roughly $10 million a year in shoe endorsements. By comparison, Young, who is signed with Nike according to the Washington Post, has made $7.4 million in NBA earnings during his 4-year NBA career.

Put simply: Jordan almost certainly pays Wade more money in one year than Young has made in his lifetime. We shouldn't be surprised in the slightest that the two men have different takes on MJ's role in these labor negotiations.

In related newz, as the NBA lockout drags on with no new negotiations in sight, four of the league’s biggest stars announced plans to stage four exhibition games, including a stop in Chicago at the UIC Pavilion on Dec. 7. Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony have teamed up for what they call the “Hometown Tour,” with proceeds helping their charity efforts.

The hometown theme is loosely interpreted. The tour opens in James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio, on Dec. 1. But both Paul and Anthony are hosting games in their NBA homes. The tour is set to stop in New Orleans on Dec. 3 and New Jersey’s Izod Center on Dec. 10.

The four stars are expected to play in every game and likely will be joined by Miami forward Chris Bosh. The rest of the lineups will be announced later and figure to change in each city.

The official release read only that the games will feature two teams of 10 renowned players.

Wade pretty much has no choice but to support Jordan because he pays Wade’s shoe salary and Jordan is now a NBA owner and has to play the game and we know Jordan is known for not being political.

Despite tabloid reports of a split between Jennifer Hudson, who presented at Sunday’s American Music Awards, and fiance David Otunga, haven’t splot up. The singer told Access Hollywood that their wedding is still on.

"I know they said we had broken up. We're never broken up," the 30-year-old singer said of David, 31, who she's been engaged to since September 2008.

The Oscar winner said distance is to blame for their nuptials being put on hold.

Distance? WTF does that mean? That sounds like they have split to us.

The Illinois Supreme Court has suspended convicted former Gov ernor and reality show star Rod Blagojevich's license to practice law. The court acted Wednesday in response to a request from the state Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.

Blagojevich is awaiting sentencing on federal corruption convictions, including that he tried to personally profit from his power to appoint a U.S. senator to the seat being vacated by President Barack Obama.

The Chicago Democrat has been a lawyer since 1984, but he hasn't practiced law since joining Congress in 1997. Blagojevich was governor from 2003 to 2009, when he was impeached and removed from office.

The suspension of his law license could lead to him being disbarred.

THE BIG STL NEWZ STORY IS:

St Louis Cardinals legend Stan Musial celebrated 91 years this week.

AND

A packed room at the Peabody Opera House watched the premiere of the 2011 World Series Film on Tuesday night, oohing and aahing at spectacular plays, laughing at the "rally squirrel" and bursting into raucous applause at every big moment. It was one more chance to celebrate the 2011 world champions, and it was a party.

Hometown Cardinals David Freese and Kyle McClellan, as well as Mayor Francis Slay and County Executive Charlie Dooley, made grand entrances. Cardinals radio voices Mike Shannon and John Rooney were received with cheers as they arrived as well.

Freese, though, was the big draw. Narrator of the film, STL native actor Jon Hamm couldn't attend,

The DVD hit stores, and MLB.com, on Tuesday. To celebrate the release, a premiere event was held at the Opera House, with dignitaries attending and fans getting a look at what they're now able to buy.

Two historical East St Louis landmarks celebrating two art figures in the area are going through a downturn. First, Katherine Dunham place may close dance legend Katherine Dunham and jazz great Miles Davis both spent much of their lives in East St. Louis, but now their legacies are in danger after break-ins and other problems at the homes they left behind.

Dunham , who died in 2006, and left instructions for her legacy to remain in East St. Louis - including the home in which she lived off and on from the late 1960s.

Marauders reportedly have looted her home on Katherine Dunham Place located on 10th and Pennsylvania (PICTURED LEFT) - taking copper pipes and appliances and damaging other items. Two adjacent buildings once used for offices and housing visiting dance instructors have long been boarded up.

Court records show Dunham's home also could soon be lost to foreclosure because it was reportedly listed as collateral for a loan the dancer's longtime assistant took out to cover expenses at the Katherine Dunham Museum.

Second, the childhood home of Miles Davis (located on 17th and Kansas {PICTURED RIGHT) who died in 1991, also has been vandalized. The aluminum siding has been reportedly stripped off of the home with boarded-up windows, which sits surrounded by overgrown weeds.

East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks Jr. says the city was not able economically to buy the two homes

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ ????????????????????????????????

Why do people go crazy over Black Friday? Why isn’t there more notoriety for Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s in its hometown? Why is the Natalie Wood case getting retried again after 30 years? Why is “Weeds” still on air? Why did Laura Ann Gibson quit being Lady Gaga’s choreographer?

At the American Music Awards. Why was J Lo’s performance more like a commercial for Fiat? Why were there so many collaboration performances? Why was LMFAO the finale? And why did they have David Hasellhoff pull off his pants during the finale? Why did the crowd give every performer and winner a standing ovation? Why does Taylor Swift always have a shocked look on her face when she wins awards? And Why did Nicky Minaj wear heels she couldn’t walk in?
