This slipped our OUTTOWN radar but they had St. Louis Idol auditions Wednesday (We forgot to pre-pub it to those OUTTWONERS who may wanted to audition) . Hundreds of St. Louisians showcased their singing skills at Chesterfield Mall and St. Clair Square in Fairview Heights, ill. . Contestants had 30 seconds to sing a cappella and try to capture a guaranteed tryout for idol producers in New Orleans at the end of the month. More than 100 singers also took the stage at St. Clair Square in Fairview Heights. Auditions were also held at Chesterfield Mall.As of this blogging, three finalists were chosen (one of the finalists was Amer Camille Lunceford, sister of STL comedian Kym Dobbs) and the winner was going to be chosen on Fox 2 News in the Morning Thursday morning and on Y 98 FM (We will post the winner at a later time)
The winner will win a guaranteed audition in New Orleans, LA on July 26t, gets two tickets to the American Idol's Live Concert at Scottrade Center on August 25th and the two runners up will receive two tickets to The American Idol's tour as well.
Some of the judges were Fox 2’s Randi Naughton and Y98 FM’s Guy Phillips.
Also, St. Louis was one of the cities that were not cut in the national American Idol’ tour. It will hit the Scott Trade Center Aug. 25 (Not August 27 as once scheduled). The August 27 date for Kansas City, MO at the Sprint Center was cut from the tour.
NOTE: Lunceford was not a finalist.

The STL will be rockin with two major concerts goin on at the same time. Grammy Award wibnning fashion-dance diva Lady Gaga and The Lilith Fair will be stagin July 17. Gaga at Scott Trade Center and Lilith fair at Verizon Wireless Ampithere with fair creator Sarah McClaughlin, R&B siren Mary J Blige (PICTURED) and country/pop veteran Emmylou Harris among others (Pop star Kelly Clarkson vied out of the tour.)
It should be interesting to see which concert brings in the most fans: The Monsters Vs the Menstrals (LOL).

We are five weeks in in the Blago Trial.
Theprosecution team rested its case a month early in the trial. Hmmm.
It was reported Tuesday that if the prosecution rested early, that the judge Judge James Zagel was going to accept the defense team’s request to delay the trial one week to prep for their case for Blago.
They say the prosecution has moved ahead so fast with the government's case that defense witnesses will not immediately be available.
Well they rested so the case will resume on Monday according to reports Thursday.
Overall, the prosecutors tried to paint Blgo as a “a foul-mouthed executive,” an “indifferent public servant,” and that he had a “penchant for living beyond his means.”
The one problem from experts in the prosecutions case was most of the plans Blagojevich allegedly hatched weren’t carried out. "

Kelley reportedly finalized a six-figure deal with Larry Thompson, a veteran producer behind biopics on Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Sonny and Cher, and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

Benton, Illinois native comic and Last Comic Standing finalist Tommy Johnagin (near Carbondale, Ill) performed Monday on the NBC reality competition on its first live broadcast with nine other comics as the public voted for the finalists. City leaders put on hard hats to go inside and announce that the Kiel Opera House will, indeed, return BUT with a new name. It'll be known as the Peabody Opera House.The former coal company is among those financially backing the venue.
The drive was spearheaded by St. Louis Blues' owner Dave Checketts, who reportedly tried to get the building opened by next Christmas. It will reopen the fall of 2011 (Watch out Fox Theatre!)

Pop rocker/actress Courtney Love was all of her bizarre and trashy self at the Pageant with her makeshift band, Hole Tuesday--for those who stayed to see them, we mean, HER. “Hole started its show about an hour past the time it was scheduled to perform and 90 minutes after the support act left the stage, which made some people in the audience wonder if the show would happen at all.

Last week, Celebrate St. Louis Summer Concerts announced that it would not have fireworks during the closing of each concert this summer. Due to the new location(Soldier’s Memorial) and safety and security reasons, fireworks were cancelled this year after the conclusion of each evening.
