OUT 741--STL TIDBITZ

HELLO OUTTOWNERS! ITS WEDNESDAY AND THE LAST STL-TIDBITZ OF THE YEAR--TIME TO GET TOWNED... Before we get into the A&E Bitz, the YEAR END OUTTOWN POST WILL BE POSTED MONDAY, DEC. 21, 2009! AND

We would like to acknowledge Chi-town based President Barack Obama who received the Nobel Peace Prize this week in Oslo , Norway. ADDED: Obama will be interviewed by Tom Joyner on the Tom Joyner Morning Show next Tuesday, Dec. 22. The show can be heard in St. Louis on Foxy 95.5 from 5am to 9 am CST. Check your local listings where to hear this monumental interview!

The big A&E newz story that happened this week in the ILLI and the MO was the break in at STL based rap mogul Nelly's mansion in Wildwood, Mo. early Friday.Police say a man broke into his house and stole electronics and video games (the now infamous surveillance tape of the culprit in an all white get up from head to toe from inside his home was plastered all over the Internet) .
Authorities say the Grammy-winning artist was not home when during the robbery when people who were staying at his home saw the robber and immediately called police and the guy ran off on foot.
A St. Louis County police spokesman reportedly said the man used a window to get in and out of Nelly's home. He said three people were inside the house at the time and one confronted the intruder.
The man was reportedly able to get away with a duffel bag of electronics, a video game system and video games. As of blog time, no one is in custody. Hmm, inside job? Sounds like it to us!

On a positive note, Billboard Magazine released its 2000s Decade List of artists and songs who made the cut on the tops of those charts and Nelly came in as the Third biggest artist of the Decade (Eminem was No. 1) and his songs, "Dilemma" and "Hot in Herre" came in as the No. 11 and No. 32 songs of the Decade respectively. He was also the 12th R&B Artist of the Decade.

Two other STL native artists also made the Decade Charts. One was rapper Chingy who was No. 86 Artist of the Decade and his song, "Right Thurr" was No. 72 Song of the Decade.

The other was Singer/producer Akon who was the No. 33 Artist of the Decade and his song "Smack That" (with Eminem) was No. #76 of the Decade.

Other Midwesters making the cut were Chitown's Kanye West who came in at No. 15 Artist of the Decade and his songs "Golddigger" and "Stronger" came in at No. 9 and No. 91 songs of the decade respectively. He also was No. 16 R&B Artist of the Decade.

The other Chicagoan was R&B king, R Kelly who was the No. 34 Artist of the Decade and his song, "Ignition" was No. 34. He also was the 4th R&B Artist of the Decade. And speaking of R Kelly, he announced last week that he is penning his memoirs with Author David Ritz that will "tell it like it is."
he said that the book promises to go through all his drama, including child pornography charges that ended with an acquittal.
The autobiography is untitled right now and is scheduled for release by Tavis Smiley's SmileyBooks in 2011

Now the question is how far will R. Kelly talk about his child pornography drama? And we are sure the publishers are peeing in their drawers for the potential money to be made in the project. Couldn't resist the pun. LOL

The mostly St. Louis filmed, "Up in the Air" led Golden Globe film contenders this week with six nominations, among them Best Drama and acting honors for George Clooney, Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards
winners to be announced on Sunday, January 17th.
++++++++++++++++

ADDED: In other Golden Globe newz, STL native actor Jon Hamm was nominated for Best Actor in A Drama Sereis for "Mad Men."

++++++++++++++++++++

And speaking of ST. Louis and films, Kinloch, Mo native actress Jennifer Lewis voice stars in the No. 1 film in the country this week with the Disney film, “ The Princess and the Frog.” The film raked in $27 million. In the film, she plays Mama Odie. ADDED: Also, in the film, St. Louis native actor John Goodman plays Big Daddy and Chitown's Oprah Winfrey plays the Princess' mother, Odora.

The St. Louis Cardinals made news off season, first up, the ongoing arbitration to keep left fielder Matt Holliday will soon be decided. It was reported that The Cards organization has supposedly made an eight-year offer to him, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The annual payout to Holliday would apparently be about $16 million. The Cardinals is reported as saying they want to reach a deal before December 25 rolls around.

The other Cards newz story had to do with third baseman David Freese who was arrested for a DWI early Saturday. From reports, police pulled Freese over near the intersection of Lindbergh Boulevard and Page Avenue, Freese was cited for DWI and failure to drive within a single lane. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.23 when he was arrested last weekend for driving while intoxicated. That is nearly three times Missouri's legal limit of 0.08.

Freese was booked into the Maryland Heights jail and released a few hours later on municipal summons. Freese has not commented, but his agent has said he is remorseful. The Cardinals said they were "extremely disappointed."
Thsi is probably a WORDZ TO THE WHYZ but we wonder why it was a disappointment when its head leader Tony LaRssa got arrested for the same thing in Florida before this season started and he was caught sleep at the intersection?
+++++++++++++++++++++

In St. Louis Rams newz, Richie Incognito was released on Tuesday by the St. Louis Rams, two days after coach Steve Spagnuolo benched the temperamental offensive guard for the second half of a loss at Tennessee. Incognito was benched after drawing two personal foul penalties for head-butting opponents in the first half on Sunday, then watched the second half from the bench with a poncho over his head. He also was yanked in the opener at Seattle after being whistled for two personal fouls

Local sports talk shows are saying if Incognito would have been cut, if his temperamental behavior was not seen and televised nationally as oppsoed to locally televised? What yawl think?
ADDED: IN other Rams newz, the organziation was forced to cancel practice on Thursday, after an undisclosed number of swine flu cases within the team were discovered three days before a home game against the Houston Texans.
Coach Steve Spagnuolo didnt say as to how many of his players had the illness, but did say that five or six of them had shown flu-like symptoms. He also added that other players had reported symptoms in the last few weeks. Spagnuolo anticipated that the Rams would be returning to practice on Friday.
We heard a joke on KMOX from a comic during a Hall of Fame broadcast that this was the first time this season that The Rams was ever on defense (defending the illness). WOW. LOL

Playwright and director Tyler Perry is bringing his Madea character back to town for his latest stage presentation, “Madea’s Big Happy Family,” taking place April 23-24, 2010, at Chaifetz Arena for three live performances. Tickets went on sale this week.
Perry recently lost his mother so lets hope he can regroup and be ready to don the wig, fat suit and dress one more time.

An actor who starred in one of Tyler Perry's films ("Family Reunion" ) sexy actor Boris Kodjoe was in town in St. Louis last weekend and hosted LooseCannon’s Sutra Saturdays at Karma. Although the crowd was a bit light cuz of the tumultuous weather (rain, wind and hail), we hear Kodjoe was a trooper and managed to stay cool about the outcome. But we did hear from a source that there were several people there who were inquiring who he was? Now that’s too much playin, for real. But for the women who did know him, he took pics and gave many, many squeezy hugs. The event co-host Mocha Latte say that she told Kodjoe that he be sure to keep his nose clean and don’t do any Tiger Woodsin’ . He laughed and promised her that he wouldn’t.
++++++++++++++++++++
Last weekend, the owner of Spruills at 1101 N. Jefferson Ave. was shot while carrying a bag of money out to his car to make a deposit. According to reports, two men approached him, displayed guns and attempted to take the money bag. The owner struggled with them. The suspects shot the owner in the elbow. The owner returned fire. The two suspects fled in a grey, older-model mini-van driven by a third suspect, police said. Friends took the owner to a hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

IN THE M.I.A. FILE--Where is socialite/educator Camille Morgan?

BLIND BITZ--Which establishment had a waitress to come and serve a plate of food and a client discovered a loooooong, stringy hair in it? (Hint. The establishemnt is locate in the CWE near Euclid and its title is part of the title of a hit pop song in 1974)

BLIND BITZ EXTRA--Which event had a display of chicken where the food was so hard, that you could use them to scrape ice from a car windshield? (Hint. This event was part of the holiday festivities and its events are hosted by a promoter who's last name is synonymous with "property.")

STL-ICIOUS--Who's HOT this week in the STL? Promoter Mocha Latte, radio personality Staci Static, promoter Tawanda Story and rapper/entrepreneur Murphy Lee (Four way tie)

Mocha Latte. This promoter of her company, Monopoly Promotions is no stranger in this segment. This past Sunday, she co-hosted Greedy Genius's invite only fashion show at Karma (SEE OUT 740 for PICS) and this weekend she will host the venue's Friday Night Fixx and Sutra Saturdays. This Friday she wil co-host with some of the other female movers and shakers in the STL including Staci Static, June 5th and Chocolate Tai to name a few at Murphy Lee's b-day party.

Staci Static. This radio personality who can be heard daily on Hot 104,1, is always on the scene hosting several weekly events including a Thursdays Happy Hour at Junkyard Bar and Grill.(SEE ONGOING BITZ)., and Fridays at T Billy Buffets in Overland and the Loft on Saturdays will make her debut as a co-host at Karma Nightclub this Friday at Murphy Lee's b-day party during Friday Night Fixx.

Tawanda Story. A newbie in the promotions game, this Lincoln High and Webster University alum is making a splash as she oversaw the production of Faithfully Funny, a Chrsitian based comedy and variety show hosted by comic Darius Bradford at the Church of the Living God in Caseyville, Ill (SEE EVENT BITZ) This is impressive because of the fact that her day job is that of a nurse at SSm Rehab/St. Mary;s Hospital where she works with brain injury and spinal cord patients.

Murphy Lee. This Grammy award winning rapper of his own record label UC ME, has been on the grind this week starting Tuesday with a CD/DVD signing of his release"U See Me:" at Vintage Vinyl which also was a part of a toy drive for underpriveleged children, and this Friday, he is celebrating his b-day at Karma during a special edition of Friday Night Fixx (SEE MOCHA's CORNER BELOW) that his record label is co-sponsoring with Nelly's DerrtyENT. What also makes this event historical is that he will bring several STL female mover and shakers together such as Mocha Latte, Staci Static, Chocolate Tai and Penelope Jones in one venue to help co-host his party.

ADDED: Then, on Thursday, he will have a listening party for his new CD/DVD at Close to Famnous' F.A.M.E. Thursdays at Black Label, Then, on Saturday, he will be on the East Side at Plush to host Saturday Night Live: The Murphy Lee Edition. His company UC Me is also co-sponsoring the St. Louis comedy show, "Who Said St. Louis Aint Funny" at the Ambassador (SEE EVENT BITZ BELOW)

CELEB-SITE.
Last week we debuted a new segment to OUTTOWN called CELEB-SITE whurr we ask you, the reader to give us your scoop on any celeb sightings in the STL and tell us where you saw them besides the obvious. For example, if you saw a celeb in concert, that's not scoop. But, if you saw them in the laundromat or the grocery store, then that is scoop. Feel us? So this week, we had a source who spent some time with comic Hope Flood when she came to the STL to perform at the St. Louis House of Comedy recently.

The source said that they took Flood out on the town while she was here including Mauricio's, Sweetie Pies, Imperial Palace, Studio Blu, and The Crocodile Lounge in the hood. the source said that they "didn't want her to be sitting in a hotel room alone while in town." They also went shopping at a few stores.

They went to Sweetie Pies (PICTURED) for lunch and Mauricio's for a late dinner after her last show at the House of Comedy. The source said "she was recognized but people asked me if that was her or where do i know her from. I answered and said she was trying to be as she said incognegro...lol."
The source said that she loved Sweetie Pies and Mauricio's and they met on Facebook and she met the source's mom and her man. Oh, she was recognized when she went to the Imperial Palace on Grand for dinner by an older guy who went crazy when he saw her. the source also said that Flood is very down to earth.
So, if you spot a celeb around on the town, let us know at maat.atkins@gmail.com and we will post it on OUTTOWN!

??????????????????????WORDZ TO THE WHYZ?????????????????
Why is Congress trying to drag out passing Obama's health care bill? Why can't we get WESL online anymore but its sister station 1380 is still online? Why did someone think they coulda got away throwing tomatoes at Sarah Palin? Why are all these harlots (and thats putting it lightly) who claim to have slept with Tiger Woods now allof a sudden coming out of the woodworks? Why are people on this zhu zhu craze? Why are some of the H1N1 virus vaccines being recalled (are we surprised?)? Why isn;t there a Billboard Music Awards this year? Why do people say its cold when it's wintertime? Why didn't St. Lunatic hypeman Slo Down and invited artist Johnny Gill show up to Nelly's Black and White Ball? And why did that burglar at Nelly's mansion in Wildwood think there wasn't surveillance there ? Why do celebs "tweet" their family drama on Twitter(Case in point singer Tank and his baby mama drama) ? Why is there going to be a paper battery made? And why can't people be in the X-mas spirit all year round?
