OUT 732--STL TIDBITZ

HELLO OUTTOWNERS!

ITS WEDNESDAY, TIME TO GET"TOWNED"
Before we get into the A&E NEWZ that's been happening in the ILLI and MO, OUTTOWn would like to wish Happy 69th b-day to the late great comic and actor Richard Pryor who died on Dec. 10, 2005 nine days after his 65th b-day. Pryor was born in Peoria, Ill.
NOW ON TO THE A&E BITZ:

The big story going on this week was Chicago talk show queen Oprah Winfrey recently previewed her upcoming primetime special on "Christmas at the White House,"which will air on ABC on December 13. In the special, Oprah will conduct a solo interview with the Chicago based President Barack Obama as well as a joint interview with The President and First Lady Michelle Obama, and give a tour of the White House as it is all decked out for Christmas.
This will be her first sit-down interview with the President since his election to the Presidency.
In unrelated newz, the Big O did not attend Obama's first state dinner last Tuesday but, her running buddy Gayle King did—and a couple that’s been in the newz lately for crashing it. LOL.

To peep the preview go to

Chi-town native and Grammy award winning diva Chaka Khan won the Soul Train Legends Award for music achievement at the revamped 2009 Soul Train Music Awards. The awards was taped at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on Nov 3 and premiered simultaneously on Centric (BETs newest cable channel) and BET on Nov. 29.

In sports newz, after the football Mizzou Tigers beat Kansas last weekend, several Bowl officials from Big 12-affiliated games agreed that Missouri has the widest range of destinations among the eight bowl-eligible teams in the conference, including a best-case-scenario return trip to the Cotton Bowl at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Jan. 2 pending on how things play out within the Big 12 over the next nine days. Their last time in the Cotton Bowl was in 2007 beating Arkansas in the New Year’s Day game.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Locally, to celebrate Webster Groves high school’s victory over Fort Osage for the state championship, a parade to celebrate took place this past Tuesday, at Webster High. This is the fourth state football championship for Webster Groves High School.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++
In other sports newz, time is ticking for St. Louis Cards free agents Matt Holliday, Joel Pineiro and Mark De Rosa on whether they will stay or leave the ball team. This week, the organization offered salary arbitration the players By offering arbitration, the Cardinals would get draft pick compensation if either player signs with another team. If a player agrees to the arbitration, he is on the 40-man roster and locked into a one-year contract with a salary determined by an arbiter. If a player wants to leave, he can negotiate as a free agent with any team (including St. Louis) but the Cardinals get compensation if he signs with another team.

Basically, it’s a win-win situation for the Cards organization and the players. The only difference is how much DENIRO one can get in either scenario.

R&B legends Patti Labelle and the O’Jays (who used to record on the same label Philadelphia International –she in the 1980s and they in the 1970s) will perform at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis Feb. 12. MELYSSA FORD

VIVICA FOX

Two lovely ladies of entertainment came through the STL who were centers of attention at one of STL’s hot spots, Karma nightclub, over the Thanksgiving Holiday,. On Friday, video vixen, Melyssa Ford came through to greet a crowd of a packed house. Although she didn’t give out hugs to crowd members (She was reported as saying she didn’t want to get the swine flu) but she did take pictures with her fans while in lower VIP. On Saturday, sexy actress Vivica Fox came through to an even bigger crowd than Ford and received the crowd more graciously. Fox took pics, signed autographs, gave shot outs to local TV shows and even danced with some folk in the crowd (with tight security of course to check anyone tryin to get tehri steal or feel on). She was reported as saying that’s he didn’t want to appear as stuck up by not being gracious with the crowd (unlike Ford perhaps? )
FOR PICS WITH VIVICA, GO TO OUT 731.

St. Louis based and native Congressman Wm. Lacy Clay was featured last Sunday on TV One’s Washington Watch with Roland Martin. The Congressman. On there, he talked about preparations for Census 2010 and upcoming legislation to create a Consumer Financial Protection Agency.
For those who thought he was going to talk about his split with wife, Ivy, well, they were badly mistaken. Wrong show.

And lastly, has anyone seen the physical transformation that STL rapper/promoter Rucka Puff has gone through lately? There is a recent pic of the rapper with rapper Young Ro in this week’s St. Louis Evening Whirl in the entertainment section. For those who know Rucka, he was known for taking off his shirt and exposing his rolls of belly fat. Well, the way it seems to be going with him, he may be taking off his shirt sporting abs pretty soon!

IN THE M.I.A. FILE—What happened to model/former St. Louis Idol Whitney Cook?

BLIND PICZ. Who was this big boned sista getting her party on during Karma’s Sutra Saturdays last Saturday?

BLIND BITZ. Which St. Louis star had a shouting match with a worker at an establishment where this star works? (Hint. The star is known for a trademarked piece of clothing they wear is above the waist and who’s stage name is part of a national restaurant chain. The establishment this star’s works for recently went through a name and location change )

STL-ICIOUS—Who’s HOT this week in the STL? Promoter Mocha Latte and rap mogul Nelly.

Mocha Latte. This delightful emcee of parties at Karma Nightclub has been on a roll in this section for the past month and shows no signs of stopping. Latte (who’s a case worker by day) will be in the house yet once again as host at Karma’s popular nights Friday Night Fixx and Sutra Saturdays until the Man of the Hour, Nelly, comes through to take over hosting duties (SEE MOCHA’s CORNER BELOW) and her writing skills can be seen every week in the Evening Whirl under column, Coffee Talk.

Nelly. This buffed out Grammy award winning rap superstar is returning to the STL party scene once again (last month he had a much talked about b-day jammy jam at Home) for partying, but this go round with a purpose. This Saturday he will host Karma’s Sutra Saturdays which will be all FREE to patrons. Then, on Sunday, he and fellow hop-hop colleague Jermaine Dupri will co-host their annual Black and white Ball, a private after five gala that will be held at chase park Plaza in the Central West end benefiting scholarships for students who want to attend Lindenwood College (and we are doubtful if his ex Ashanti will accompany him this year--but then again....)

????????????????????????????????

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ????????????????????????????????????????
Why doesn’t Tiger Woods nor his wife want to talk to the cops about the car incident that occurred last Friday at his residence? And why did CNN report Tiger Wood’s address on the news when it was first reported? Why does Dubai, the richest city in the world, owe billions of dollars in debt? Why did it seem as though Guy Torry was still embittered by his wife Monica askew leaving him when he talked about her in jokes at the House of Comedy last weekend? Why do people get mad when they get called out for lying? Why doesn’t St. Louis support the Rams? Why did WESL radio host Moses call for a flat out gun war against thugs in the STL black community on his radio show the No Half Steppin show ? Why is the hottest toy on the Xmas market an electronic hamster named Zhu Zhu? Why does former Olympic champ Marion Jones feel her desire to play in the WNBA will be granted? Why does it seem as though the PGA is making Serena Williams the poster child for bad behavior by giving her the biggest punishment in PGA history (Hello, can you say John McEnroe????)?Why are most black folk up in arms that President Obama granted for 30,000 troops to be deployed to Afghanistan? Why are there so much deer carcass of the side of Highway 64 in Illinois? Why hasn’t Bradd Young’s “Grown Man Lovin” single hasnt yet made the national charts?

AT THE SOUL TRAIN AWARDS: Why weren’t most of their big winners not there? (eg. Beyonce, Jamie Foxx), Why were there folding chairs in the aisles? Why does singer Charlie Wilson’s wife look like Donatello Versace? Why was Keith Sweat up on stage during the Charlie Wilson tribute and didn’t sing? Why wasnt the group DeBarge invited to sing in the Motown tribute? Why was Fantasia screamin’ throughout her portion of the tribute for Chaka Khan? Why was Kandi Buress so hoarse when she was singing? Why was B.E,T, chairman Debra Lee’s skirt so short above the knee showing all her legs? Why wasn’t the show broadcast live? And why did editors cut out most of the infamous kiss between Toni Braxton and Trey Songz?
