THE BIG A&E STORY THIS WEEK IS:
Chicago native rap superstar Kanye West met protestors Monday at Occupy Wall Street wearing Givenchy, media watchers were quick to point out. West and his bodyguards unexpectedly arrived at the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York's Zuccotti Park around 2 p.m. Monday, accompanying rap mogul and friend Russell Simmons. West reportedly swaggered through the crowd sporting gold chains (which, according to the New York Observer, cost $25,000 US) and a gold grill.
"Kanye has been a big supporter of this movement, spiritually. He's just here to stand with the people, he didn't want to make a statement," Simmons told reporters at the scene. "I just walked kanyewest thru the #occupywallstreet," Simmons later tweeted. "I love how sweet and tolerant he was to the crowd."
We are kinda confused as to why he appeared but at least he is one of few rappers these days who actually makes statements beside wearing bling.
In unrelated Ye newz, he alongside Maroon 5 will perform on this year's Victoria's Secret. The show will air on CBS on November 29.
And in more Ye newz, Kanye he received two nominations for the 2011 American Music Awards that were announced this week. He is up for RapArtist and Rap Album for “Watch The Throne” with Jay Z. . The awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theater L.A. Live on Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
In related Ye newz, West won CD of the Year for “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” at the 2011 Bet Hip Hiop Awards that aired Tuesday
And speaking of the BET Hip Hop Awards, St. Jospeh , Mo native rap superstar Eminem of Royce Da 5’9 was the last rapper to spit on the Cypher with his scene-stealing anchor verse with ease but not before a silly freestyle verse that his Shady Records squad mockingly hyped up. Once he dialed in, Eminem proved why he is one of Hip Hop’s most feared lyricists with nearly two minutes of effortless rhymes that referenced everything from Casey Anthony to Yelawolf’s drink of choice in his pickup truck. Kansas City, Mo native indie rapper Tech N9ne was another Midwest based rapper who participated in one of several cyphers.
As far as performances, Chicago native rapper Lupe Fiasco performed with Erykah Badu on the controversial song, "Words I Never Said."
As far as presenters, St Louis bred rapper Nelly presented the I Am Hip Hop Award to LL Cool J.
Newly Chitown resident and talk show host Rosie O'Donnell's “The Rosie Show" premiered to weak ratings for OWN, but outscored Oprah Winfrey's "Oprah Lifeclass." Rosie O'Donnell's new show premiered to 497,000 total viewers, and a .44 rating among OWN's target audience of women 25 to 54. It debuted Monday at 7 p.m.
"Oprah's Lifeclass," meanwhile, had 333,000 total viewers and a .4 among women 25 to 54. It aired at 8 p.m.The network has struggled for ratings since its debut in January, and doesn't look to have an instant hit with O'Donnell.
OWN noted that the ratings for both shows were up more than 200 percent over those received a year ago by Discovery Health -- the network OWN replaced. It also pointed out that both shows aired on four other Discovery Communications networks -- TLC, Investigation Discovery, Discovery Fit & Health, and Planet Green -- at the same time they aired on OWN.
O'Donnell's show earned an average of 1.5 million viewers across all the networks, and Winfrey earned an average of 1.2 million, OWN said.
Well, the countdown is down on how long OWN can survive. We are wondering why Oprah banking on Rosie for the lift for her whole entire network? Wordz to the Whyz.
THE BIG STL NEWZ STORY IS:
St Louis Cardinals in the NL Championship with Brewers Jon Jay, Albert Pujols and David Freese had run-scoring doubles in a four-run first inning in the St. Louis Cardinals’ 4-3 win against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series Wednesday. The Brewers took Game 1 at Miller Park last Sunday.
The Cardinals, who won the NL Division against the Phillies last Saturday, hold a 2-1 lead in games in the best-of-seven NL series, which continues tonight at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.+++++++++
Speaking of the Cardinals, the team's Squirell has caught on nationally since its appearance last week running across home plates in Philly and St Louis stadiums. To cash in on the craze, the Cardinals team distributed 40,000 rally towels with a squirrel motif for Game 3 of the NL championship series Wednesday night against Milwaukee. In addition, stuffed Rally Squirrels were available for $5 at the Busch Stadium team store, along with "Got Squirrel" T-shirts and additional rally towels. There also was a Squirrell mascot on the field as well.
So what's Fredbird gonna do now that he's playing second field to a viral phenomenon? LOL
Locally in St Louis, KTRS AM will have a Pep Rally today at Kiener Plaza at 3p before the start of Game 4 at Busch Stadium. Then on Friday, KSDK TV will have a Pep Rally at at 3 p.m. at Joe Buck's Downtown at 10th and Clark.
While the NBA lockout continues, one of its newest superstars Chicago native and Bulls star Derrick Rose's new Addidas shoe, Zero Rose 2 debuted on the market. They run about $110 retail
Chicago native singer/actress Jennifer Hudson's no-show at the Michael Jackson tribute concert in Cardiff, Wales, last weekend caught the show's producers completely off-guard ... especially since she reportedly was already paid to do the gig ... this according to sources close to the show.
JHud tweeted last Saturday she wouldn't be doing the show -- citing "major production issues."
According to her sources, Hudson is claiming she felt the show's producers didn’t give her enough time with the music she was supposed to be singing. According to other sources, Jennifer received her music the same time as all the performers.
Other sources say JHud signed her contract and was paid in full.
A rep for Hudson confirms the reason she cancelled, but says producers "completely understood." But some sources say that's not the case at all.
Hmmm, well either way, J Hud was a no show no matter how they spun it. If she was paid and didnt show, just like any job, she should have had a better excuse than not feeling she was prepared. Sounds like lawsuit is about to come about.
Kinloch, Mo. Native actress Jenifer Lewis was seen on the anthology movie, “Five” thataired on Lifetime Monday as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Her segment was directed by Alicia Keys Ms. Keys’s segment, “Lili,” introduces a driven career woman (Rosario Dawson) who has just received a diagnosis and is headed to the doctor’s office for a lumpectomy. The real anchor of this piece, though, is Jenifer Lewis, who plays Lili’s mother, a fearsome woman who seems to have not been on hand when the empathy gene was passed out.
In related Jenifer newz, her co-starring on the NBC drama “The PlayboyClub” has been cancelled.
R&B singer Johnny Gill's latest CD in 16 years, “Still Waiting” that was recorded in part at Notifi Studios in St. Louis, through his record label, Notifi Records was released Tuesday. His Love Suite video, that was filme din St. Louis, can now be viewed at http://vimeo.com/29511284

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ???????????????????????????
Why did someone throw a hot dog at Tiger Woods while he was putting? Why is the Cardinals Squirrell such a phenomenon? Why is the Michael Jackson trial more about the supporting players not involved with the trial? And why does Conrad Murray have the same expression on his face?
AT THE BET HIP HIP AWARDS. Why was Tyrese trying to act all hard while in the audience? Why didnt the Hip Hop Telethon last throughout the whole show? Why did Sprite have no shame having cutaway shots of its product during the filmed cyphers? Why was the Titi bit with b-ball star Stodemeir seemed almost real with the working on his food van?
