Daniel thanked the organization and her husband for continuing to support her. She also thanked her fellow honorees who she said she can call and depend on who go through the same challenges in the media industry.

Holland thanked everyone for the honor and she also gave a plug to her newest venture, her own style of lip gloss (which she was wearing that nite) titled, "Laugh, Shine, Repeat."

Newton thanked everyone as well and she disclosed to the crowd about her recent health scare involving her heart, but assured that she is healthy and has the "heart of a 30 year old." She also plugged her new website, Renaissance Village.

Mrs. Simpson thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers for her daughter who underwent brain surgery recently. She was choked up with emotion during her speech, but after Pennington comforted her, she went on to say "I hope she gets better soon because I dont like all these cameras and lights."

AFTER THE AWARD SHOW:
We stopped by briefly to 13 Black Katz Appreciation Party that was held at Binion's. Here are a couple dancing in the tented area of the venue.

NOTE: We got there a bit late, but it was still a nice, decent crowd when we arrived. We saw a couple of STL stars up in there including former STL mayor and current radio talk personality Freeman Bosley Jr and poet Percy Wells. The event was sponsored by Major Brands.
