OUT 843--ILLI MO (A&E BITZ)

HEY OUTTOWNERS!

ITS TIME TO GET TOWNED!!!

This Thursday is VETERANS DAY. Let’s remember regardless of your feelings about wars of conflict—celebrate the human beings who served by force or by choice.

THE BIG NEWS STORY in the bitz is: Kanye West and Oprah Winfrey dominated the big storiez.

Grammy Award winning Chicago bred rapper Kanye West’s tweeted his thoughts after his interview with Matt Lauer on the Today Show Tuesday which will have aired today.

According to an article from MTV.com, On Tuesday night, Kanye West took to Twitter to proclaim that he's done with all future press, after taping a "Today" segment with NBC anchor Matt Lauer that rubbed the MC the wrong way. However, on Wednesday, The New York Times reported that, in unedited footage of the interview, West's account of the sit-down appears somewhat inconsistent with what the video shows.

"While I was trying to give the interview they started playing the 'MTV' under me with audio!!!!!!!," West tweeted Tuesday, referring to video of Yeezy's much-ballyhooed drama with Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV VMAs. "I don't mess with Matt Lauer or the Today Show ... and that's a very nice way for me to put it

HE TRIED TO FORCE MY ANSWERS. IT WAS VERY BRUTAL AND I CAME THERE WITH ONLY POSITIVE INTENT ... I feel very alone very used very tortured very forced very misunderstood very hollow very very misused ... I don't trust anyone but myself! Everyone has an agenda. I don't do press anymore. I can't be everything to everybody anymore ... I can't be everybody's hero and villain savior and sinner Christian and anti Christ! ... I can't take anymore advice!!! I create, I'm creative, I have a good heart, everyone will see and understand one day."

According to the Times, 'Ye gets testy when footage of the incident is played during his interview, but Lauer obligingly reduces the audio.

"Yo, how am I supposed to talk?" West says. "I'm hearing it while I'm trying to talk."

Yeezy also appears irritated when footage is played of Lauer's recent interview with President George Bush, in which the former head of state dubs West's 2005 declaration that the leader "doesn't care about black people," one of "the most disgusting moments in my presidency."

"I didn't need you guys to prompt my emotions," West tells Lauer during his taping. "I don't need all the jazz."

"Today" show representatives confirmed to the Times that the interview is slated to air Thursday (November 11) and said in a statement, "We look forward to airing Matt Lauer's interview with Kanye West."

ADD: Kanye is supposed to return to the Today Show on Nov. 26 for a live concert on the plaza. Following the hoopla with this interview, it is yet to be seen if he'll actually show.

Uhhh, Ye may be a bit uncontrollable with his antics, but he gotta sell records and Roc-a-fella, his label, and Jay Z, his boss, aint havin' his disc not sell!

The Today Show knew exactly what they were doing and Ye is smart enough, we hope, to know what they were doing. They were exactly trying to rev him up emotionally in order to get the buzz going meaning more ratings for the show. The way things are going, these two incidents (The Bush comment and the Taylor Swift incident) will unfortunately be the events that will define Ye’s career and his legacy.

Chicago talk show mogul Oprah Winfrey was given an airplane for the final season of her popular daytime talk show. The Boeing 757 had been newly painted from its nose to its tail last Thursday and designated the official Oprah Winfrey Farewell Season jet.

The 182 passengers had no idea what they were in for when they boarded the United Flight Thursday morning in Chicago.

Once on board, instead of watching the standard safety instructional video, passengers were surprised to see an address from Oprah herself. They were given some of Oprah's favorite flight accessories - fleece blankets and bags of Garrett popcorn.

The biggest surprise was unveiled in the middle of the flight when 26-year-old Michael Faulman was awarded a free round-the-world flight.

The Oprah Winfrey Farewell Season United million mile giveaway will continue through May with one lucky winner chosen each month. The winner will be selected at random and there's no way to know which flights will be on the Oprah jet.

So basically, if you get on the Oprah plane, the safety procedures will include that they may win a free round trip somewhere. LOL

In unrelated newz, Oprah and her gal pal Gayle King’s camping adventure was broadcast last Monday and Tuesday on her daytime talk show. In the shows, they headed to Yosemite National Park in California to help out park ranger Shelton Johnson who wrote to Oprah about his concerns of the lack of African Americans camping in national parks. As a result Oprah and Gayle went to visit him and his park. On the shows they showed Oprah and Gayle beginning their trip at Fresno Airport, where they hopped into a Chevy Tahoe. Their first stop: REI, to stock up camping gear. During their adventure they lean safety in camping, mix it up with fellow campers and cameras showing them without makeup waking up in the morning and addressed the long-standing rumor that the two are lesbians.

"Let's just add to that lesbian rumor," King said to Winfrey as the two women headed to bed in their Coleman Pop-Up Camper after a night of entertaining other campers. She then beckoned, "Come on in baby!"

Oprah laughed hysterically and in her famous tone often reserved for when she gives fabulous things away to her viewers she yelled: "lesbian ruuuuuuumorsssssss."

Oprah says she enjoyed the whole experience of being at Yosemite. "Just the beauty of the park. Everything about it's spectacular...being surrounded by the cathedral of stone," she says. "Now I want to see all the other national parks."

Well, we can say one thing, Oprah knows how to self promote herself and she and gal pal has a sense of humor about the rumors. Now let’s see how many black people will trek to Yosemite.

In unrelated Oprah newz, she made an appearance at the Glamour Magazine Women of the Year Awards in New York Tuesday where she introduced one of the honorees, Oscar winning actress Julia Roberts, and said prior to bringing out Roberts revealed that she's partnered with Roberts' production company on a new show called Extraordinary Moms. "Because that is what she loves the most." Oprah said Roberts is most alive as a mother and wife.

In related newz, a homeless man in New York City says he stopped Oprah over last weekend asking for some funds. Winfrey who was in New York for the Glamour Magazine Awards this past weekend, caught dinner with friends last Saturday night in the trendy Meatpacking District. Julio Bazen is the homeless man who tells the "New York Post" that as Oprah sat outside the Soho House in a limo, he approached her and asked her for some cash.

At first, Bazen says, Oprah opened her purse and told him she was short on money...but when he whipped out this joke, he got a nice tip in return: "Hey, Oprah," the man says he told her, "why is it good to date a homeless man?" Why? "When you're finished [with the date], you can drop him off anywhere."

Bazen reports the joke went over well -- "She laughed!" -- as Oprah's hand emerged with five $20 bills. How did Bazen spend his hundred bucks? "On booze, underwear and a steak dinner," the "Post" reports.

We are sure next up for Bazen—a trip to the Oprah Show, no doubt or at least autographs at his resting stoop. LOL

In more unrelated Oprah newz, Forbes Magazine listed Hollywood’s Highest-Earning Women and Oprah topped the list, earning $315 million between June 2009 and June 2010. Not only is she the highest-earning woman–she is the best-paid entertainer period, regardless of gender.

Kanye West's is back in the newz as his upcoming CD"My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” leaked online this week via Torrent and other MP3 download pirate sites. Many are already raving about what they're hearing too (Rolling Stone writer Rob Sheffield gave the album a 5 out of 5 star rating).

The CD, which is set to be released Nov. 22. has a total of five album covers, The initial one(PICTURED) is the most controversial one (a portrait by George Condo) that shows West being straddled by an armless winged female (a phoenix). Both characters are depicted nude, and one nipple of the phoenix's breasts and her buttocks are visible. The painting is centered on a red background with a thin yellow border. The artwork follows along the apparent theme of the album, as well as West's music film "Runaway".[38] According to an interview with MTV News, this is one of five album covers; all of them will be included with its purchase. A pixelated censored version of the cover is used on iTunes Store.

Kanye revealed all 5 different covers via a UStream conference.

A second cover, with a painting of a ballerina by Condo, was posted on the Amazon.com pre-order page. It was intended to be the original artwork for "Runaway," but West used a photograph of a ballerina instead.

In unrelated Ye newz, last Friday, Ye stunned passengers on a Delta flight from Minneapolis to New York by hopping on the plane's public address system and performing a stripped-down mini-concert.

According to Hollywood Life, West, who was seated in first class, jumped on the plane's loudspeaker system about a half hour into the flight and performed clean versions of his hits "Good Life" and "Gold Digger."

"I had to pass through first class to get my seat in economy, and I saw Kanye sitting there with a little drink in his hand," a passenger who witnessed the impromptu show told the website. "I wouldn't have even thought it was him, but he was sitting with a very PR-looking lady. He was like, "Yo, this your n---a, Kanye." Then he couldn't decide if he wanted to do "The Good Life" or "Gold Digger," so he was like, "I'll just do a little bit of both." It was awesome ... but I still have no idea how he got into the cockpit."

Long as he didn’t try to touch the sky on the plane, I think it was harmless. LOL

In more unrelated Ye newz, Judge throws out Suge Knights lawsuit against Ye Marion "Suge" Knight is set to appeal a decision made by a Miami judge involving a lawsuit he has against fellow rap star, Kanye West. The Suge Knight lawsuit against Kanye involves a shooting that occurred at a 2005 Miami Shore Club party hosted by West where Suge alleges the security wasn't heavy enough, resulting in him getting shot in the leg. Billboard.com reports that Knight is seeking over $1 million in damages from the rap producer. Reportedly the judge dismissed this lawsuit for insufficient evidence saying a shooting at the party was not foreseeable, but that won't cause Suge Knight to rest his case. West’s attorney didn’t want Ye to settle because he said the lawsuit was "ill-conceived" ever since its start. .

And we agree. Knight is eager for cash—bottom line. That’s just like saying, Someone can sue Mother Nature for rain and they forgot to bring their umbrella!!!!!

He gets rejected by Mad Men, works at Burger King and is hired as a clown. In reference to the film post-production, she said that she was “85 percent pleased with it” and stated "I think he did a very fine job, although I'm not sure I would call it a finished film."

THE BIG STL STORY THIS WEEK is:

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols hopes to get a new extension on his one year contract renewal with the team. Last week he offered a deadline for the extension as he is relaxing in his native Dominican Republic. The team was on record that Pujols’ contract will be top priority and will discuss it during the off season long before he becomes a free agent after the 2011 Season. According to an Associated Press report from the Dominican, Pujols told reporters there that he would like to spend the rest of his career with the Cardinals.

"But," he is quoted as saying, "that is something that I cannot control."

Less than a week after the end of the 2010 regular season, the Cardinals reportedly exercised their $16-million option on Pujols' contract for 2011. By triggering the option, the Cardinals brought the total value of the contract Pujols' signed in February 2004 to $116 million over eight years.

In related newz, Pujols is one of five contenders the for National League MVP Award. The others are Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado Rockies, Adrian Gonzalez, San Diego Padres, Joey Votto, Cincinnati Reds and Carlos Gonzale, Colorado Rockies. The critics are saying, Votto will win. Its Molina’s third consecutive award and Pujols’ second—his first was in 2006. Molina is the first catcher in Cardinals history, however, to win the award in three consecutive years. This is the ninth season since 2000 that the Cardinals have had at least two Gold Glove Award winners.

The St. Louis Blues winning streak was sidelined Wednesday by a crushing blow to one of its star players at its home game with the Blue Jackets at ScottTrade Center when forward T.J. Oshie left during the third period after breaking his left ankle. As a result, Oshie would need surgery and would be out indefinitely. The Blues also lost 8-1 ending its winning streak of games won (seven). A St. Clair County Associate judge last Thursday lifted the temporary restraining order he issued against the Illinois High School Association after the association had reportedly ruled days prior to the restraining order that East St. Louis High used an ineligible player. The ruling knocked the Flyers out of the football playoffs for the second time after winning their game against BellevilleWest (41-10) played after the judge Okd their eligibility and record(On Oct. 26, the IHSA told the school it would have to forfeit its first five games of the season which were all wins, putting the team on the sidelines before the temp order was granted to the school under the argument that the school didn’t have time to respond to the change).

The player in question was senior defensive lineman Charles Tigue because Tigue did not reside in the East St. Louis school district(a requirement clause in IHSA’s policy) The team also will have to forfeit its 10 wins from 2009 for using Tigue and two games (both wins) Tigue played in 2007, his freshman season. As a result, Belleville West won by default and played rival Bellevile East (who won 29-13)last Saturday. It is the first time in association history that a school has had to forfeit a postseason football win while the playoffs were in progress. East St. Louis can appeal the judge's decision, although the district has not announced its intentions.

Wow bummer for E--Side.

Another one of the Big Three Clubs involved in the club violence probe this summer was back in the newz. Last Saturday, three men reportedly robbed several women outside popular downtown nightclub, Club 15. According to St. Louis Police, six women were standing in front of Club 15 on Locust Street around 11:00 p.m. when three men, one armed with a gun, approached them, demanding their purses. Witnesses say after the robbery the men jumped into a white vehicle and sped off. This was the second incident of crime that has occurred with the Big Three within weeks. Soon after the end of Halloween weekend, a 20-year-old man Travis Parker, was shot and killed by a gunman outside of Sugar’s Lounge. New reports indicate that he just left the lounge after attending Erotic Energy Sundays promoted in part by socialite Ashley Puryear (which was an 18 and over weekly event which has now been cancelled ) and reportedly after he had an argument with the gunman over a woman allegedly inside the bar or near it.

It seems as though the reprieves that Club 15 and Sugars Lounge got from the city board could be in jeopardy the way things are going. So, as Freeman Bosley Jr., the attorney for the owners of Lure Nightclub( the other third of the Big Three that got shut down by the city for complaints from outside violence), crime is still gong on near the other two clubs even with Lure closing. We are sure this is not the end of this.

Also during last weekend, on the East Side of the Sippi, an early morning blaze destroyed the strip joint Soft Touch Lounge early Saturday. No one reportedly was injured and it took 13 fire departments from the metro-east 45 minutes to bring the intense blaze under control, Assistant Fire Chief Ken Perry said.

Perry said a call reporting a fully involved fire was made at 6:18 a.m. Saturday. The business had been open Friday night into Saturday morning and had closed at 5:30 a.m.

Hmm, sounds like someone was planning a nice bonus check for an insurance company—and the fore just so happens to set ablaze after the club closed. Okay. Gotcha.

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ????????????????????????????????????????????

Why did comedian Charlie Murphy cuss out students at Grambling State during a comedy show when they booed him then walked off ?(STL folk should remember he did the same thing at the Fox Theatre in 2002) Why does the city of Dallas wanna sue The Dallas Cowboys? Why did Kim Kardashian get a record deal? Why did Kanye do an impromptu concert on a recent flight? Why does it seem as though Tyler Perry is fascinated with having Janet Jackson in his movie s(She’s been in three)? Why haven’t we heard a new CD from rapper Jibbs? Why does Mo’Nique wear skinny girl heels on her talk show that hurt her feet? Why did actor Idris Elba kick out his girlfriend from his house a few months after their child was born? Why does model Iman come off as an ice queen on her Project Runway ripoff show “Fashion Show?” Why did Ashley Puryear shut down Erotic Energy Sundays at Sugar’s Lounge? Why isn’t singer Aretha Franklin’s illness been disclosed? Why do celebs take nude or semi nude pics of themselves with their cell phones and send them out to whomever knowing sooner or later the pics will be leaked on the Internet? Why did the art department for Michael Jackson upcoming self titled CD pull the “symbol” that was used by Prince back in the 1990s off the original artwork from the CD? Why did the Soul Train Music Awards finish taping the show in the wee hours of the nite until the next day? And why does the new Michael Jackson song, “Breaking News” sound very average? And why now does Katherine and Joe Jackson reveal on Oprah that Michael had too many nose surgeries and that he was given beatings respectively?

The 19th Annual Stella Artois St. Louis International Film Festival, presented by Cinema St. Louis, will take place November 11-21. Over 300 films will be screened at venues across the St. Louis area; around 100 guests, including actors and filmmakers, will be present at many of the screenings to discuss their work. More than 70 filmmaking guests will accompany screenings, and SLIFF will present major awards to Stacy Keach, Harry Shearer, Rob Nilsson, Stanley Nelson, and Jenna Fischer. Because of the tragic, unexpected death of native St. Louisan George Hickenlooper (PICTURED) on Oct. 30, SLIFF is altering its plans and mounting a tribute to the filmmaker. The festival is slated to open with the St. Louis premiere of “Casino Jack,” directed by Hickenlooper.

The “Casino Jack” screening – at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Tivoli Theatre – will continue as planned. But SLIFF is cancelling the cocktail party that was to precede the film and is instead devoting a tribute program to Hickenlooper, a former Cinema St. Louis Award winner. The tribute will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Tivoli. SLIFF’s main venues are the Hi-Pointe Theatre, Tivoli Theatre, Plaza Frontenac Cinema, and Webster University’s Winifred Moore Auditorium.
