THE BIG A&E NEWZ this week was Chitown based talk show mogul Oprah Winfrey’s daytime show started its 25th season Monday , her final season of her show. The news catcher for the episode was her gifting 300-strong studio audience an all-expenses eight- day paid trip to Australia. But her gesture is causing controversy because Australians will pay for the trip. Winfrey's audience clapped, cheered and some even teared up when she kicked off the 25th and last season of The Oprah Winfrey Show by announcing a free eight-day trip to Sydney, dubbed 'Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure'. But the billionaire host failed to mention that the "gift" is actually being paid for by the Australian Tourist board and the news has been met with hostile reactions in Australia.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the trip will cost local taxpayers more than USD 2.3 million.
Australia's Tourism Minister Martin Ferguson called the deal "a major coup", claiming he had received federal and state funding to convince Winfrey to come to Australia. And the government will contribute more than USD 1 million, "mostly in accommodation costs", according to the Sydney Daily Telegraph.
Ferguson insisted it was money well spent as it would put Australia in the spotlight, with the popular TV show watched by 40 million Americans and screened in 145 countries.

A finale will be shot in December 2011 at the Sydney Opera House (during the city’s summer), which will be renamed the 'Sydney Oprah House' for the occasion and actor John Travolta himself will be piloting the plane. The audience also each received a Motorola Smartphone.

So the Australian government gave its Tourism department a million dollars to Oprah to woo her to do her show in Australia. In return, the Australians are forced to pay for the trips Oprah gave to her studio audience in hopes that tourism improves. And how much Oprah pay? Notta.

Two ILLIMOians made highlights with their performances at this year’s MTV Music Awards.

One was Award winning St. Joseph, Mo. native Eminem who won two awards at last Sunday’s MTV Music Awards. He won Best Rap Male Video and Hip Hop Video for his No. 1 single, “Not Afraid.” He wasn't present during the award presentations due to his having to leave Nokia Theater in Los Angeles soon after his opening performance on the award show. He left to fly to NYC to perform with Jay Z for the Home to Home Tour at Yankee Stadium. But the highlight for Eminem was his opening performance of "Not Afraid" and duet with surprise guest Rihanna's on their hit duet, "Love the Way You Lie" which was, according to a music poll on MTV UK, crowned as the best of the 2010 VMAs.

AND

The other was Chitown based award winning rapper Kanye West’s anticipated performance on the MTV Music Awards Sunday still got folk buzzin—especially on Twitter. During the debut of his new song, the self effacing, "Runaway," with Clipse member Pusha T. MTV viewers talking on Twitter topped
MTV's Twitter Tracker, generating more than 4,300 tweets a minute and making it clear his appearance was one of the biggest moments of the night. Even after the awards show ended, the Nokia Theatre crowd could be heard chanting West's name.
++++++++++++

In unrelated Ye newz, while attending a New York Fashion Week event this week, he told New York Magazine of his upcoming epic art film, “Runaway” based on the song he performed during the finale of the MTV Music Awards.
He said, " I'm color-correcting this film I shot in Prague a couple weeks ago." (Kanye had tweeted a week ago, "I want to edit the film on a boat. Where are the good editing boats?")

West said the project is a 40-minute film-noir-style movie called "Runaway" that's based on his upcoming album, whose title he has still not revealed. (Wikipedia reported that the title is “Dark Twisted Fantasy.”)

Well one thing for sure, Ye knows how to get the crowd cheering for him by performing a song calling himself an asshole. Also, leaving all speculation and pre buzz aside at the award show that he was going to upstage Taylor Swift again, or sing with her during her ode to the 2009 mike fiasco titled “An Innocent”
Yaye for Ye.

President Barack Obama will publish an illustrated book for children on Nov. 16. The book is entitled, “Of Thee I Sing: A Letter to My Daughters.” It will consist of 40 pages about important American figures such as George Washington, Jackie Robinson and Georgia O'Keefe. Loren Long will illustrate. Obama will use his proceeds from sales to create a scholarship for children of disabled and fallen American soldiers.
Can we say No. 1 New York Best Seller?

Veteran Chicago film critic Roger Ebert will revive "At the Movies," the program he launched 35 years ago with the late Gene Siskel It will be produced by Ebert and his wife, Chaz, for WTTW in Chicago and air on PBS stations beginning in January 2011. Hosts of the program will be Christy Lemire, film critic for the Associated Press, and Elvis Mitchell of National Public Radio. They will be joined by contributors Kim Morgan of Los Angeles and Omar Moore of San Francisco, both film bloggers. Ebert will appear in every episode for an "Ebert's Office" segment looking at classic films. Ebert lost his voice a few years ago to thyroid cancer but recently regained the ability to speak via a computer voice simulation program.

And yes, the critics will use the traditional "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" that Ebert owns the rights to.

St. Louis based award winning rap mogul Nelly said recently that he is looking forward to a competitive match between his team and Jay-Z's New Jersey Nets. Nelly, who is part owner of the Charlotte Bobcats while Jay-Z is part owner of the New Jersey Nets, said he wouldn’t mind going one on one on the court with the rap star.
“We made the playoffs last year. I don’t know what the Nets did … I don’t think he want none of that right now!” Nelly said.
In unrelated Nelly newz, he shrugged off rumors that he and former girlfriend Grammy Award winning singer Ashanti were rekindling their relation.
Addressing a recent photo of himself and Ashanti at T.I.'s wedding earlier this summer, Nelly explained their current marital status.

On the rumors Nelly said to sohh.com, “ No it's safe to say that we're two friends that went to support our friends. We're both friends of T.I and Tiny and we went down there to support them. Right now it's safe to say that I'm a couple with my '5.0' album (laughs); the person I'm dating right now is a girl by the name of '5.0' and we're planning to get married on November 16th so I'm inviting everybody to that wedding (laughs). “

In other Nelly newz, his comeback hit, “Just a Dream” is reaching closer to the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 as it moves two spots upward from No. 9 to No.7. We predicted it would peak at No. 3, so we will be watching to charts to see if we were correct. Also, his radio gig at Hot 104. 1. ended Sept 10 and his radio gig producer Jenee has now taken over as the temp host on the 3p.m. to 7 p.m. slot until permanent host Staci Static returns from her maternity leave.

Mediatakeout via STLHIPHOP reported this week of someone of anonymous status from Chicago (CHICACOEVERYWHERE) posting on YOUTUBE regarding allegations that STL native rapper Chingy is currently dating a tranny. The Youtuber speaks about these allegation as he watches Chingy’s rebuttal video from YOUtube that was posted by the rapper a year ago about tranny dating rumors. Well, on this newest video, the Youtuber shows a video of a tranny who says she is a trannie ( who this poster alleges is who Chingy is seeing) and is shown dancing on stage at a concert and poses in a pic with Chingy. The postee reportedly tries to tie in Pac, posting it on Sept 13 the anniversary of Tupac's passing saying he kept it real, and say he is doing this for hip hop.

Huh? Doing this for hip hop? What kind of sense does this makes? Showing a video of a tranny dancing and taking a pic with Chingy is trying to keep hip-hop real? How is trying to make allegations of ones sexuality keeping hip-hop real? How about focusing on the music itself? Plus, the Chicago poster doesn’t have any evidence that this tranny is seeing Chingy so the allegations are pretty explosive with no circumstantial evidence.

Speaking of allegations, Chitown native and award winning singer Jennifer Hudson’s brother-in-law made some strong allegations recently that their kinfolk (Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew, his son) who got murdered in October 2008 was the result of Hudson being a member of the Free Masons and sacrificing his son to further her career.
A man who says he is Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law and the "only" father to the deceased Julian King, Hudson's nephew, is drawing new controversy around the murder after saying he heard rumors that Hudson was a "Free Mason."
"I just got a little something I need to get off my chest cause I’ve been hearing a lot of nonsense and rumors…sometimes I don’t know what to believe, who to believe or whatever. But I’m going to just speak my mind," says King. "So basically I hear...Jennifer…is supposed to be a Free Mason. That’s what I hear. I don’t know how true it is. She supposedly has sacrificed some things in order to get where she’s at. I don’t know how true that is, I’m not saying it is, but if it is, whatever is in the dark, will come to the light."In the same breath King goes on to promote his new album, ‘Entrepreneurism.’

Hmm. So is he saying someone told him that’s the deal? Is he alleging J-Hud herself told him? But his allegations are questioned cuz he is trying to sell his own CD which is quite sleazy if you think about it.

In unrelated J Hud newz, she was back in Chicago to celebrate her 29th birthday last Sunday. That nite, , she performed at a special gospel concert at Christ Universal Temple on South Ashland, raising money to provide gifts for deserving children during the holiday season

THE BIG local STL newz was sports related.

The St. Louis Rams lost its first home game in the NFL season opening week Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals 17-13 at the Edward Jones Dome. So hopefully in Week 2 will be victorious for the team when they travel to Oakland to face the Raiders next Sunday.

In unrelated newz, the “Kiss Cam” at the Rams v Cardinals game at the Edward Jones Dome caused a stir when the kiss cam focused on two men in Arizona jerseys who grimaced in disgust. The cam reportedly stayed with the two guys with the assumption that the guys were gay. The kiss cam reaction from the crowd consisted catch of cheers and “hoot-hoots.” As a result, members of a group organized by Pride of St. Louis wants to plan an "Out at the Ballpark" afternoon at Busch stadium this Saturday, in hopes the kiss cam pans to any of the several hundred participants so they can kiss it up.

The group reportedly wants to protest what they say is discrimination at sports venues against members of the LGBT community and are not accusing the Cardinals of discriminating against gays and lesbians.

Hmm, we are bit on the fence on this protest, no pun intended. So, they are going to a sports arena in hopes to be on the Kiss Cam so they can kiss. But, the issue at hand was the Kiss Cam trying to force two men to kiss while being egged on by an audience. So what’s really protested? Just cuz the guys didn’t kiss? And what will the group’s purpose of kissing on the cam prove? So we guess they will protest if the Kiss Cam doesn’t veer to them? We are a bit puzzled on this protest.

UPDATE: The Cardinals organization was contacted on this planned protest and it is reported as saying they will not make a special effort to zoom in on any gays or lesbians on the Kiss Cam.

In other Rams newz, former St. Louis Rams Isaac Bruce and his namesake foundation will host a fundraiser at Lumiere Place Theatre, Oct 29 to thank fans for supporting him during his 16 years in the NFL, most years played with the St. Louis Rams. Current and former Rams players will attend. The Ralph Butler Band will perform at this event. In related Bruce newz, his jersey retirement ceremony will take place Oct 31 at the Edward Jones Dome during the Rams V Panthers game.

And in more Rams newz, some of the teammates hosted the 8th Annual Taste of the NFL—St. Louis at the St. Louis Foodbank this past Monday. The event, which was chaired by honorary event captain Rams player Chris Long, was a food and wine tasting extravaganza prepared by chefs from some of STL’s top restaurants where attendees sampled specialty foods, bid on unique items, and meet the chefs and Rams’ players, cheerleaders and mascot, Rampage. The event raises money for the St. Louis Sports Commission and the St. Louis Area Foodbank. To date, the event has raised over $500,000 since its inception in 2003.
+++++++++++++++

Former St. Louis Rams coach Mike Martz is no longer a studio commentator on the NFL Network to become the Chicago Bears’ offensive coordinator. gone from his role as a studio commentator on NFL Network, as he is the Bears' offensive coordinator. His replacement isformer St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner, who played for martz when he was a Ram. He will be an analyst on some Fox NFL telecasts as he begins his reality show gig as a dance contestant on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars.''

Another big STL story was , St. Louis Cardinals’ Albert Pujols missed Tuesday’s losing game at Wrigley Stadium with the Chicago Cubs. Manager Tony LaRussa took him out of the lineup so he could rest his arm after he received a cortisone shot in his left elbow after the Cards lost in Monday’s game with the Cards in Chicago . An MRI was taken and the diagnosis was tendinitis. Pujols, whose missed game was only his second of this season, took a couple of swings on Monday night that further affected his elbow. Felipe Lopez replaced Pujols in the first base position. Pujols, who was on a day by day observation, was back in the lineup Wednesday in the Cubs v Cards Series at Busch Stadium but the Boyz in red lost again to the Cubs as they sweep the series. .

As of Wednesday, The St. Louis Cardinals are eight games out of 1st Place (currently in 4th Place) in Wild Card NL Central Race, behind 1st Place Reds .
++++++++++++
In unrelated newz, rumors are flying on where Cardinals manager Tony La Russa’s next ball gig will be after the 2010 Cardinals season is over. From reports, there has been talks of LaRussa to take over the Chicago Cubs’ managerial spot after longtome manager Lou Pinella retired last month, but Larussa reportedly said he was not intending or had interest in filling the position.
Well, this is the same guy who denied the Rasmus trade, so only time will tell.

Local jazz singer Kim Massie pulled out of a performance last week at the Tea Party Rally Sunday. The planned performance that was booked for weeks prior said she didn’t know the event was sponsored by the STL based Tea Party Movement (one of three in the country that was rallied Sunday) . She was reported from her Facebook page that she didn’t support the politics of the group. "Please be assured that not only will you NOT see me perform at the rally, but I also do not support the efforts of the Tea Party," she wrote.

Good for her. From the report it looks as though the Movement may try and sue her for backing out saying she was booked weeks prior. But as some folk say, “not all money is good money.”

WORDZ to the WHYZ at the MTV MUSIC AWARDS????????????????????????????

Why did Will.i.am wear paint his face black during his performance wih Nicki Minadj during the pre-show? Why is the host Chelsea Handler so annoying? And why did it seem as though MTV did more hyping their show, Jersey Shore:” with Snooki as a red carpet commentator and castmates all over the award show than anything else? Why was the girl chase scene during Justin Beiber’s performance seem contrived? And why didn’t Justn Bieber had problems trying to get up to the stage to receive his award? Why did Chelsea call Nikki Minadj assalicous? And why did Nikki Minadj looked stunned after co-presenter Katy Perry told her after accepting Eminem’s award: “here (Niiki) a man, just the way you like, nice and stiff? “ Why did that commercial showing the little white boy who’s name was Little Wayne had the actor playing the interviewer ask the boy, :So how did it feel being in jail?” Why was there a Tweet-athon—of which music artists at MTV Awards had the most tweet responses in between commercial breaks? Why was the Taylor Swift ode to the Kanye forgettable? Why did MTV bleep out all the curse words in Kanye;s finale song except for the word, “asshole?” Why did Cher wear her 1988 If I Could Turn back Time leather and lace ensem? Why didn’t Lady Gaga perform? And why did the media lay the foundation for PETA to protest Lady Gaga’s meat dress?
