HEY OUTTOWNERS!

TIME TO GET TOWNED! This past Monday, the United States celebrated Labor Day, celebrating the worker from dirt farmers to CEOs of Fortune 500 companies—and the unions who try and make sure we all get paid fairly for our share of work.

And to those who are either unemployed, underemployed or “in between jobs,” you all are counted in the labor pool as well.

But for many, Labor Day is really to celebrate the last official day of summer, eat BBQ
and have a parade the first Monday in September. And according to historians, The first Labor Day Parade was held in New York City, on September 5 1882,

In the ILLI MO areas, various Labor Day parades had taken place.

In CHI town, The Calumet Memorial park district parade took place. There were floats, fire trucks, and marchers in costume. Kids along the route got some candy and there was even a Miss Illinois sighting. In Schaumburg it had a weekend-long September-Fest celebration. Folks lined the streets to watch floats and different groups march along the parade route with a handful of politicians. Organizers say nearly a quarter million people attended over the course of the three-day event. This was Schaumburg's 40th annual September-fest. (Info provided by WLS –TV)

In Belleville, Ill., its parade rolled through the streets of Belleville on Monday. According to KSDK.com, The Southwestern Illinois Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, estimated that 74 units participated in the annual event; up slightly over last year.
One official said several thousand people took part in the annual event. There were marching bands from Belleville West and Belleville East High schools.

In St. Louis, thousands gathered on the streets of downtown for this years annual parade. According to stltoday.com. the theme of this year's parade, sponsored by the St. Louis Labor Council, AFL-CIO, was indicative of the tough times: "($1) Buck Up for a Union Brother or Sister!: Share & Care for One Another."

During Labor Day weekend, the traditional Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon was broadcast. Locally, in St,. Louis , the telethon, which was held and televised on KSDK at Grants Farm raised just over $2 million during the Labor Day weekend. NewsChannel 5's Mike Bush and Heidi Glaus hosted the event.

Chicago bred Grammy winning hip-hop star Kanye West is twittering swiftly on his infamous stage snafu with country singer Taylor Swift at last years MTV Video Music Awards. Last Saturday, West reportedly tweeted his sorrows about the incident tweeting that he was wrong for jumping on stage, grabbing the microphone from Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards and saying her trophy should have gone to Beyonce.
He has been quoted before as saying since the Swift debacle he has experienced enormous pain, been the subject of death wishes and suffered tremendous setback to his career.
"How deep is the scar ... I bled hard ... cancelled tour with the number one pop star in the world ... closed the doors of my clothing office," he tweeted.
After the incident, he said, "People tweeted that they wish I was dead ... No listen. They wanted me to die people. I carry that. I smile and take pictures through that."
West said he's now "ready to get out of my own way. The ego is overdone."
He also apologized to Swift again, and said he has written a song for her that he hopes she will perform.
"If she won't take it then I will perform it for her," he said.
In regards to Twitter, West, who has close to one million followers said,. "Man I love Twitter ... I've always been at the mercy of the press but no more ... The media tried to demonize me.”

But doesn’t Ye realize that the media uses Twitter too to report what celebrities tweet?

In unrelated Ye newz, there is a buzz on what west will do at this year's MTV Music Awards where he was invited to perform and is set to air Sept 12 on MTV (he also has a MTV video nod for Collaboration Video for Drake's "Forever" along with St. Joseph native Eminem). One thing is certain is, Parks and Recreation star and this year's ballyhooed MTV Movie Awards host Aziz Ansari has been asked to introduce West cuz they are reportedly BFFs.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
In unrelated MTV Music Award newz, St. Joseph, Mo. native and Grammy/Oscar winning rapper Eminem will open up the 27th Annual ceremonies that will take place at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. He is one of the big nominees this year with his video "Not Afraid" (Hip Hop Video, male video and Video of the year) and a nod in the Collaboration Video category for "Forever" with Drake and Kanye West.

Louis native and Bravo TV exec and host of "Watch What Happens Live" Andy Cohen who won a Prime Time Emmy as executive producer of "Top Chef," as Outstanding Reality Competition Series, beating out long standing seven-peat winner "The Amazing Race." He did not attend the ceremonies.

ST. Louis native and fashion mogul Kimora Lee Simmons is continuing her battle against Kellwood ousting her as the CEO of Baby Phat as of Sept 1.
According to her tweets and other reports, Lee blamed executives at the Kellwood company—which bought Phat Fashion in 2004 and is headquartered in Chesterfield, Mo.—for being behind the decision not to show a collection at
September’s upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
The
NY Post reported that that Lee was "dumped," and is considering a lawsuit because she was “blindsided” by the move.
However as previously reported, it was alleged that the reason Lee was fired was because of her lavish spending she did for her and her daughters and the company spending money on body doubles for Lee after photo shoots for ads for Baby Phat.
Lee addresses these issues on her Ustream which will be part of her upcoming season of her hit show Life in the Fab Lane on the Style Network. To see it go to

St. Louis bred and Grammy winning rap mogul
Nelly is riding on his music comeback as he finally makes it to the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 as his single, “Just A Dream” climbed four spots to No. 9 on the chart in three shorts weeks out of the box. It is the rapper’s first Top 10 hit since "Grillz," featuring Paul Wall, Ali & Gipp, topped the list for two weeks in January 2006.

Will it go No. 1? Eh, that’s a long shot. But we predict it will definitely go Top 5. As far as the specific spot on the Top 5, we think it could make it to at least the No. 3 spot. We will follow the charts on weekly basis to see if our prediction was correct.

Last Saturday was the Arch Rivalry Game, the Season Opener between the Fighting Illini and Mizzou at the Edward Jones Dome Saturday. Mizzou beat the Illi 23-13. Mizzou has now won six straight in the series -- all in St. Louis -- and leads the overall series 17-7. The last Illinois victory was a 42-0 trouncing of the Tigers in Champaign in 1994. In related newz, Mizzou opens its 2010 home schedule this Saturday, September 11, when the Tigers host McNeese State. On other sports newz, St. Louis Cards manager Tony LaRussa confirmed this week the rumors and answers to why outfielder Colby Rasmus sat on te bench for more than 10 consecutive games last month—he wanted to be traded. According to stltoday.com, “the admission brought at first no comment, then later a denial from Rasmus, who spoke at length with La Russa and general manager John Mozeliak about the handling of the matter” during the Cards home series with the Reds this past weekend. And actually, Rasmus wanted to be traded in July but the truth recently came out.

Last week, Rasmus was telling reporters that everything was fine and there was no riff between he and LaRussa. But the spin has finally spun and the truth is dizzying as the Cards lose two out of three in the series against the Brewers and still six games out of 1st place in the NL League as they fend the Braves this weekend in the ATL in a three game series.

Why has the Quoran become a book of burning for Sept 11 protest? Why does R Kelly wanna be Jerimih’s voice sounds so whiney and annoying? Why isn’t Alive Magazine the head sponsor of St. Louis Fashion Week this year? Why were there some neighbors of the Washington Ave area clowning at the Lure hearing with nonsensical testimonies? Why is usher going more in a techno-electronica vibe with his music lately? Why is rapper Nicki Minadj the only female rapper out there these days? Why hasn’t STL native youngster Christian Ferguson been found? Why is the Betty White comeback starting to get old? (No pun intended)…Why is Will Smith’s daughter Willow signing a record deal with Jay Z? Why did Chris Browns mom posta tweet on Twitter saying Michael Jackson died so Chris Brown can live? Why 50 cent calling Fabolous a f*ggot over the Souljah Boy cocaine rumors?
