OUT 833- ILLI MO (A&E) BITZ

ITS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH--GET PINK WIT IT!

The big newz story is President Barack Obama on the political campaign during the Nov. 2 mid term elections and using television to get the word out. Last Thursday, Obama spoke at a televised town hall meeting with 225 college students and younger voters, part of a coordinated effort by the White House and Democratic campaign officials to mobilize the youth vote. The hour long event, presented by MTV News, BET News and Country Music Television, gave Obama a forum to energize college-age voters who may have grown disillusioned with his administration.A new poll carried worrisome news for the president and his party, showing that only 44% of students approve of Obama's job performance. In May 2009 that figure was 60%. The new poll was conducted by the Associated Press and a division of Viacom's MTV networks called mtvU.The format of Thursday's meeting was meant to draw in young viewers; the moderators plucked questions from the " Twitter-verse" and called on college students from the Washington area. The president spent the bulk of the one hour town hall talking over an audience that asked him pointed and honest questions regarding such topics as The Dream Act, banning Don't Ask Don't Tell must go, school bullying, and college affordability
The highlight was when he asked about his opinion on whether being gay was a choice and he said he did not believe being gay was a choice and said “Obviously, I don’t profess to be an expert, but I don’t think it’s a choice. I think people are born with a certain makeup, and that we’re all children of God. We don’t make determinations about who we love, and that’s why I think that discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is wrong.”

On Monday, it was reported that he was appearing on "Mythbusters," a television series that uses science to separate fact from fiction. Obama's appearance on the popular Discovery Channel show is part of a White House effort to highlight the importance of science, math and engineering as experts warn that low interest in these subjects among U.S. students could hurt the economy.

THEN

On Wednesday, it was reported that Obama will appear on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Oct 27, in the middle of a week of special episodes taped in Washington ahead of the November 2 mid-term elections, which will culminate on Saturday, October 30, with the talk show host's rally on the National Mall.

Chitown based Grammy Award winning rapper Kanye West continues to make newz . Last week, it was reported by Radar Online that Kanye reportedly snapped pictures of his penis and sent them to multiple women--who are now shopping the photos around to various media outlets. One image shows a nude Kanye from the chest up, wearing sunglasses and a gold chain, while the second photo shows the singer's genitals provocatively exposed from his boxer briefs. A source told the website that the pics have surfaced because Kanye "hit so many girls up on MySpace.” It was also reported that these women are trying to sell the pics to media outlets.

If this is the case, we are sure Ye is a smart man and probably wanted this to be exposed. Pun intended.

In other Ye newz, the rapper was pissed off (nothin’ shocking so far. LOL) and took his piss offness to Twitter Sunday, expressing himself about the original artwork for his new album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," was "banned in the USA!!!"
"They don't want me chilling on the couch with my phoenix!" he wrote, alongside a photo of the intended artwork – a painting of an armless, winged nude woman with a polka-dotted tail straddling a man.According to the Los Angeles Times, the cover art wasn't exactly banned, as West put it. A source close to the artist reportedly said West was strongly urged to forgo his choice of cover art, but that his label, Universal Music Group's Island Def Jam, was willing to stand behind whatever he decided to do.
The rapper, continued to tweet about the hypocrisy of the nation's conservative mentality and the stifling of his "true creativity." "In the 70s album covers had actual nudity... It's so funny that people forget that..." he wrote. "Everything has been so commercialized now."So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can't have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings."
Mass-market retailers were reportedly the reason why the rapper was forced to pull the cover art, after label execs allegedly speculated that stores such as Wal-Mart and Best Buy, which account for at least 10% of physical CD sales, would refuse to carry the album which is set to be released Nov. 22
West went on to state that his creative freedom comes before album sales."In all honesty ... I really don't be thinking about Wal-Mart when I make my music or album covers #Kanyeshrug! I wanna sell albums but not at the expense of my true creativity," he wrote.
So let's get this straight. Execs at his label are guessing it will cause a problem, but said they support his wishes. Isnt that kinda like stabbing someone then saying you will also take them to the hospital? Kind of like an open ended support. Also, Walmart aint the end all in a world in the world of I Tunes.
+++++++++++++

In other Ye newz, on Monday night in Los Angeles, he unveiled his mini film "Runaway" film for an audience that included celebs, media, and his fans at Harmony Gold Theater, to get their take on the film and from reports folk were inspired and moved.
"It was interesting. I thought he exposed a lot of things that were worth exposing. It was very different," Alex Valls told MTV News. "The whole platform is awesome: It opens up a lot of interesting dialogue, what exactly was going on, what he was exploring. It's different and it's cool. I liked it, it was unique."
"It was hands-down amazing ... very creative, very inspirational, simply amazing," Colin Witt added. "I was very impressed."
Much like earlier audiences — who described "Runaway" as "abstract" and "very loose" — many in Los Angeles noted the film's artistic and avant-garde quality. But they were quick to add that, really, what they liked best about it was that at no point did it not feel like a Kanye West project. After all, his ambition is what they admire most about him.

Also at the event, the rapper revealed that he had, at one point, contemplated taking his own life. There were times that I contemplated suicide," a reflective West told the crowd, adding that he is now certain, "I will not give up on life again."
On what drives Kanye to carry on, West said: "There's so many people that will never get the chance to have their voice heard... I do it for them.”

The film itself will premiere this Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on MTV, MTV2 and BET, and will also stream live on MTV.com, BET.com and VH1.com, followed by a live Q&A session on MTV.

And in more Ye newz, his chompers was even biting into the mix. During a recent appearance on the Ellen show, it was noticed he had removed his entire bottom row of teeth and had a row of
diamonds implanted in their place (Mediatakeout reported this earlier this month actually) . n an interview with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, he explained: "It's really my real teeth. It's replaced my bottom row of teeth.
"I just thought the diamonds were cooler. There's just certain stuff that rock stars are supposed to do."
It seems the hip-hop star has been considering the sparkling dental work for some time.
In July, he posted a picture of himself with what are believed to have been temporary diamond teeth before taking the plunge and in August he wrote: "Diamond teeth ... another reason to smile : ) (sic)"

So much for the “Diamonds from Sierre Leone” stance. LOL

Meanwhile the second single released from his upcoming CD, “Runaway” fell 26 spots from its debut week at No, 12 on Billboard’s Hot 100 this week. Maybe the debut of his film on cable outlets and network sites will catapult the single back up the charts.

Chitown based talk show mogul Oprah Winfrey surprised audience members at Comedy Central’s "The Daily Show" last Thursday by saying she’s sending them to Washington, D.C. this month where host Jon Stewart is hosting his "Rally to Restore Sanity" in politics that was mentioned earlier in this blog. She appeared via satellite Thursday on "The Daily Show" and told audience members to open red envelopes under their chairs.

Next trip she’s giving is to Heaven. LOL

St. Joseph native award winning rapper Eminem topped BET’s list of Top 15 Rappers of the 21st Century The main argument was if Eminem was black he wouldn’t have gotten the pub that he has been receiving. The show, which aired last Friday on BET, consisted of a "Hip-Hop Supreme Court" which was headed by Justice Big Tigger who judged the list of contenders .

The Court which represented all of the regions of the country, and consisted of nine select industry insiders – many of whom were raised on hip-hop: Jermaine Dupri (Producer - ATL); Chuck "Jigsaw" Creekmur (AllHipHop.com); Boy 1da (Producer);DJ Diamond Kuts (Power 99 FM - Philadelphia); DJ Greg Street (V103 - ATL); Tony Neal (CEO, Core DJs); DJ Timbuck2 (107.5 WGCI – Chicago); Chloe Hilliard (Managing Editor/Social Media Manager, Vibe Magazine - NYC); and DJ Vlad (VladTV.com - NYC).
The list in consideration for the top spot came threw open nominations to BET digital followers, industry bloggers and other social influencers (our “Grand Jury”). More than 25,000 votes later, they returned a Top 15 list of rappers for consideration. Now, our “Hip-Hop Supreme Court ” is convening to vote on the final Top Ten, based on a rapper’s: flow, lyrics, subject matter, cultural impact, dough, and as needed in the arsenal of a 21st Century rapper –digital skills (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, their own website, etc.). Kanye West came in third and Nelly, who was argued by Dupri to be on the Top 10 list, came in 15th.

Here's the complete BET Rappers Top 10:
1) Eminem
2) Lil' Wayne
3) Kanye West
4) 50 Cent
5) T.I.
6) Ludacris
7) Drake
8) Young Jeezy
9) Jadakiss
10) Rick Ross
Since there's ten names above, that means five of the original fifteen didn't make the cut. They are 11)Eve, 12)Fabolous, 13)The Game, 14)Gucci Mane and 15)Nelly.
Jadakiss? Hmm.

ST. Louis native and Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard and his team are striking out fast in the playoffs to the World Series as they lost to the Giants 3-1 in a Game of Seven. To force the series back to Philadelphia, the Phillies have to win Thursday in Game 5 at AT&T Park.

The big STL newz story this week is Nelly was officially inducted into the ST. Louis Walk of Fame last Friday in a surprise event that was announced just hours from taking place. The event, which was sponsored and filmed by Vevo Go , took place at Blueberry Hill in the Delmar loop in front of the venue where his star was located (that he received in 2003). A few hours before, Nelly went on WHHL 104. 1 and Q 107.7 to announce the induction ceremony and surprise performance at Blueberry Hill where over 400 folks came through.

The event then moved inside to the Duck Room at Blueberry Hill for an hour concert, where Nelly and St. Lunatics Ali, Murphy Lee, Kyjuan and City Spud joined Nelly on the Duck Room stage as they dusted off some gems and ignited new material..
To see the induction go to

In related newz, Nelly has released the artwork for his upcoming CD, “5.0” this week (PICTURED). Also, as he rides a high on his comeback single, “Just a Dream,” the video for third release from his CD , “"Move That Body" ft. T-Pain and St. Louis native singer/producer Akon. was shot at the Fight Club during his trip in the ATL for the BEZT Hip Hop Awards earlier this month. In the video are TI, Jermaine Dupri and Yo Gotti just to name a few. The song also debuts on Billboard's Hot 100 singles this week at No. 54. It’s too early in the game to predict how high it will peak but it is likely it will at least chart in the Top 20.

As far as his comeback single, ”Just a Dream” holds at No.3 for a second week in its 9th week on the Billboard Hot 100 charts this week. The song still has its bullet and has the possibilities of maybe reaching to No. 2 because last weeks; No. 1 song for the past four weeks, “Just the way You Are” by Bruno Mars fell to No. 2. The newest No. 1 song, “Like a G 6” by Far East Movement could be dethroned by Nelly, but only in a matter of a week or so we can tell what will happen. But right under Nelly is Rihanna’s blockbuster single, “”Only Girl” is at No. 4 moving fast so we will see. But we predicted “Just A Dream” would peak at No. 3 so we are still banking on that.

St. Louis Rams kicker Josh Brown is now a movie star. He made a cameo in the new Jackass movie that came in at No. 1 last weekend raking in $50 million.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Speaking of the St. Louis Rams, they won over the San Diego Chargers in a homegame at Edward Jones Dome last Sunday 20-17 giving them a 3-3 record. Lets see if they can get a win for a majority this Sunday in Tampa Bay to meet the Buccaneers.

Chicago native Internet sensation Antoine Dodson is continuing to enjoy if 15 minutes of fame as he performed on 106 and Park Wednesday. On there he performed his I-tune frenzied song, “The Bed Intruder Song.” Co-host Rosci asked him if his sister’s rapist was caught and he responded saying that he was and “just because we’re on 106 and Park don’t mean we still ain’t forgot.” Then she asked him what was next up for him because his newfound fame as a rapper wasn’t originally in the cards for him and he said that he was coming out with a part 2 of the song called, “Stupid, You So Dumb” a CD and a book.

Well, we can’t blame Dodson too much on his newfound 15 minute fame for it was the Gregory Brothers who got the YOUTUBE interview of Dodson on TV getting interviewed by the TV news about the attempted rape of his sister this summer and created the song.

Chitown native and Grammy award winning singer/producer R Kelly will open up the 2nd Annual Soul Train Awards that will be taped in Atlanta Nov 10 and aired Nov 28 on Centric TV. This week, LaRussa agreeing to a 16th season as St. Louis Cardinals manager. The team reportedly announced a deal Monday that included a mutual option for the 2012 season. Financial terms were not disclosed on the new contract, finalized 15 days after the end of a season that flatlined during the last month of regular season,
"For the last 10 days or so, Tony and I have had daily dialogue," general manager John Mozeliak said. "And I'm happy to report that we're welcoming him back."

The only change was in his coaching staff.

So the Skipper is back in April yawl. We were wriong we thought he was going to get axed.

Also in sports, there is backlash brewing after the expulsion of Saint Louis University Billikens basketball stars point guard Kwamain Mitchell (LEFT) and forward Willie Reed (RIGHT)after they was no evidence found of sexual misconduct last May in the schools campus. Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce said there was "insufficient evidence for us to bring charges against the suspects at this time."
Several outlets -- including the Post-Dispatch and KSDK -- say "unnamed sources" have confirmed that Reed and Mitchell are indeed the two players who were accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old female student in a campus dorm in May. When the case went to trial for criminal charges, Judge Jennifer Joyce of the circuit attorney's office, did not see any evidence of a criem and threw the case out. However, even with no criminal charges filed, Reed and Mitchell were granted a joint hearing in mid-September and the student court concluded that Kwamain Mitchell and Willie Reed violated the rules of the school’s policy on sexual misconduct and alcohol abuse (alcohol was invloved in the case).
Reed’s father was on KMOX saying that his son said he could be reinstated if he wrote an apology to the school but refused such that it would have admitted guilt, so they will appeal the decision and has sought other schools for consideration.
It was reported that Mitchell , through his lawyer "consistently maintained that he did nothing that would warrant suspension from the University and would be surprised if Kwamain did not attempt to re-enroll at St. Louis University after January 1."

It is interesting that media have shied away from reporting the woman’s ethnicity but we are betting that she is not the same color as the basketball players.

The big concert last weekend was the Mary J Blige concert held at The Fox on Saturday.

Opening was 80s R&B star El DeBarge who, from reports, did a decent, but brief set as his signature falsetto was on point. He performed classic Debarge and Switch hits and songs from his newest CD, “Second Chance.” St. Louis American writer Kenya Vaughn wrote: Nearly 35 years in the business didn’t show as DeBarge danced across the stage with the energy of someone fresh in the game and eager to take the industry by storm.

Up next was Grammy nominated R&B diva-in-training jasmine Sullivan, who has performe din St. Louis several times since her debut in 2008, was so-so as far as her eprfoamnce but her vocals were strong. Vaughn wrote: Her stage show continues to leave much to be desired. Parallel to her attempt to carve out a musical identity – despite enormous talent – Sullivan struggled to find her place on stage.”

The headliner, MS. Blige, according to Kevin Johnson’s review on stltodya.com, “She opened with an overture of sorts in the form of "MJB da MVP," a career retrospective song that name checks much of her past work. Blige stacked the deck early on with upbeat, dance-flavored joints and groove-oriented jams. The real meat and potatoes came with female-friendly ballads that often elicited huge sing-alongs in which Blige occasionally turned the songs over to her fans.

She's stronger than ever in all the right areas. That includes vocally, in her stage presence and the way she moves. Not much for stage patter, Blige mostly limited her comments to pre-fabricated messages of positivity. Even when she stated she wanted to say something to the crowd that wasn't a set-up, that's exactly what it was, a set-up for the show-closing "Be Without You."

The set filler act was R&b newbie Jive recording artist Miguel who currently has a Top 10 R&B song, “All I want is You” featuring rapper J Cole.

In related newz, Mary J Blige’s chorographer Anthony Burrell taught a dance class at a studio on Olive in downtown St. Louis on Olive the morning of the Fox concert He also chorepgraphs for pop divas Beyonce and Rhianna.

OUTTOWN EXCLUSIVE.
Now with Lure Nightclub has closed its doors, and the owners’ attorneys stopped its appeal on the city board’s decision to revoke its liquor license, the focus now is on the owners of a new club, Amnesia, moving into the space, which is set for its grand opening during Halloween weekend (and a reported soft opening Oct 23)—but a closing sign could be thrown on the door before the opening as OUTTOWN got a scoop last weekend from a source on the possibilities that the building owner, Kwame Building Group and the landlord, Sonia Brascomb, who owned clubs in the space in the past (Club Isis) may pursue the space for a club. The push is on for this to occur. We were told we would get more skinny on the method of operations for blocking the Amnesia opening, but we will see what occurs in the next week or so.

Why does it seem as though the woman who claimed sexual assault against SLU b-ball players Kwamain Mitchell and Willie Reed seemed like a set up? Why does singer Tank sound like Jamie Foxx? (or is it vice versa?) Why are people making such a big deal about Mariah Carey and Beyonce being preggo or not? Why does Usher want to have a concubine type atmosphere at his house? Why did a Republican supported TV political ad broadcast on Latino TV in California for Latinos not to vote AT ALL in the Nov. 2 midterm election because the Democrats and Obama failed to sign any new legislation on the Immigration Bill? Why is Michael Jordan selling his car on Ebay? Why are the Mean Girls (men) of Morehouse College gettin harassed and gettin folk in a frenzy with their expression to wear pearls, pumps and purses on campus ? Why are we now just getting emails on Rihanna stalking Chris Brown ? Why was there a mass crowd at the Galleria at the re-opening of the Apple store? Why did Ron Artest wore boxer briefs on Monique show? Why was T.I. crying at his parole hearing ?Why did Kanye think his CD cover wouldn’t have made a stink with retailers? Why did singer Justin Bieber allegedly hit a boy at a laser tag spot? And why is techno pop so popular right now?
