OUT 1024--ILLI MO arts and ent BITZ (July 14-20)

HEY OUTTOWNERS!

IT’S THAT TIME!!

TIME TO GET TOWNED!!!

The BIG A &E STORY THIS WEEK IS:

The 63 rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced Thursday morning and ILLI MO actors were represented fully again this year. STL native Jon Hamm, picked up yet another nomination for Lead Actor for his role in ‘Mad Men” while his series had the second most nods with 19. Oak Park, Ill native and Emmy Award winner Betty White copped a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in her role in “Hot in Cleveland,” Chicago native and Emmy Award winning actor Andre Braugher scored another Emmy nod for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama for a second year for his role on :Men of a Certain Age.” Last year winner’s Doloth, Ill native Jane Lynch (who will be hosting the awards this year) and Kansas City, Ks native Eric Stonestreet got nominated again for Best Supporting Actress and Actor for their roles on “Glee” and “Modern Family: respectively. Newbie Emmy nominee Melissa McCarthy of Plainfield, Illinois, was the only cast member on the new hit show, “Mike and Molly;’ to get a nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy. She also helped announce the awards on Thursday.

Chicago resident and talk show maven Oprah Winfrey has decided that if you want to get the job done, you better do it yourself. The former daytime talkshow queen has named herself chief executive and chief creative officer of OWN, the cable network she launched in partnership with Discovery Communications. The announcement was made early Wednesday morning.

The move comes just over two months after Christina Norman was forced out as CEO of OWN in a management shake-up. Norman, who exited only four months after the channel made its debut, was OWN's third head since its formation was announced in 2008.

“I am ready to dedicate my full creative energy and focus as the full-time CEO of OWN," Winfrey said in a statement.

Since Norman left, Peter Liguori, the chief operating officer of Discovery Communications and a former top executive at Fox Broadcasting, had been serving as interim CEO.

Also taking top positions at OWN are two of Winfrey's trusted lieutenants. Erik Logan and Sheri Salata, currently presidents of Harpo Studios, Winfrey's production company, will now serve as presidents of OWN.

Looks like The O is about to change things around. We are sure it was difficult for her to manage both the daytime show and delegate duties to her network. Now the question is, will Ms. Norman come out with a tell-all. We doubt it. We are sure Oprah made sure their were clauses in the contracts for that never to happen.

Chicago reared and Grammy Award winning rap star Kanye West and GrammY Award winning rap mogul Jay-Z are done selecting new songs for their joint album "Watch the Throne". In the newly-announced tracklisting, it's revealed that twelve tracks are listed for the standard edition, and four more songs including buzz track "H*A*M" are added to the deluxe package.

Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All member Frank Ocean, Jigga's wife
Beyonce Knowles, soul singer Otis Redding, Kanye's protege Mr. Hudson, and R&B/funk artist Curtis Mayfield are lined up as featured guests. Each of them lends their vocals in one song, except for Frank who is featured in two songs, "No Church in the Wild" and "Sweet Baby Jesus".

A listening party for the effort has been held by Jigga last Thursday, July 7. To a handful of selected music journalists and two lucky fans, the rapper played the new songs from his
laptop at the Mercer Hotel in New York. He reportedly banned any live tweeting during the event to prevent lyrics being leaked.

Reviews from the media are mostly positive. AllHipHop called the album "one of the most interesting pieces of Hip-Hop." The publication furthermore wrote that people "need to shed expectations and erase what they know" if they want to properly enjoy it.

"But, that is the beauty of Watch The Throne. Everybody won't love it and others will swear by it. It will be the topic of debates and hate. Through it all, it's very cool to see Hip-Hop artist evolving creatively. Fearlessly," it concluded.

The album has been made available for pre-order since July 4, and will be shipped to the customers across the United States a month later on August 2. The front page of the
CD features a royal metallic gold artworkwith ornately-carved graphics which was designed by Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci.

Grammy Award winning Chicago native R&B star R. Kelly is reportedly being hit with a $2.9 million foreclosure lawsuit on his house in the Chicago suburb of Olympia Fields. Crain’s Chicago Real Estate Daily reported Tuesday that Kelly has not made a monthly mortgage payment since June of last year on the mansion, located on Maros Lane. Thus, J.P. Morgan Chase Bank N.A. filed a foreclosure complaint in the Chancery Division of Cook County Circuit Court last month, Crain’s reported.

The house and its gated estate were constructed for Kelly 11 years ago. The house is 11,140 square feet, and features six full bathrooms, seven half-baths, and a four-car garage.

Now this is bizarre. First off, we would think the R could pay for the mansion in cash with all of the millions in royalties he has collected since 1991. We are going to assume that his business managers or whoever handles his business affairs slacked up on the mortgage payments. We can’t see The R actually going to a bank and writing out monthly checks or going online to take care of them. That’s what we’re assuming because June 2010 is a long time to not make a payment and still be in the house!
