OUT 1005--TWILIGHT TUESDAYs present MONYA @MISSOURI HISTORY MUSEUM LAWN May 24

Photos by Ma'atology St. Louis-based singer Monya and the band started off her two hour set (with an intermission during the first hour) with a medley of hits by the late R&B/jazz singer Phyliss Hyman including "You Know How to Love Me," and "Living All Alone,"














She also sang The Jones' Girls' "Nights Over Egypt."

Folk got their party on during the uptempo songs such as the Emotions' "Don't Wanna Lose Your Love," and the Pointer Sisters' "Yes We Can Can" (where Monya had the crowd to do a call a response chorus of the song)

NOTE: Monya is a noted and sought-after singer. Most of her work had been singing background for national recording artists including Rod Stewart, Patti Labelle and Jeffrey Osborne, and Della Reese to name a few. She has performed at many St. Louis corporate events and performed professionally with some of St. Louis’ top bands, including Mystic Voyage and Quartet Trebien. She also traveled with the hit gospel stage play “Be Careful What You Pray For,” and taking home the $10,000 grand prize in the 2006 Ameristar Superstar vocal competition.



This edition of Twilight Tuesdays with singer Monya was sponsored by the venue, Ameren UE and radio stations Z 107.7 and Majic 104.9. One of the latter's personalities Selena J hosted and gave away tickets to the station's Memorial Day Madness show at Lights On Broadway on Friday with Howard Hewett and Monya who will open for Hewett.
