For more info, scroll down to MA'AT BITZ for more info on how to get some comps to this poignant film.

Prayers go out to those who have been striuck my the world's problems and disasters.

THE BIG ILLIMO BITZ STORY going on this week is:

Prospect, Illinois native Lee DeWyze and competitor Crystal Bowersox moved up in the final round being voted in the Top 2 Tuesday for the Americna Idol results show as 47 million votes were reportedly called in for the Top 2. Last week, the judges hinted on DeWyze’s chances of winning the competition.. Next Tuesday there will be a two part Idol fianle when Dewyze comepte swith Bowersox for the vote for the American Idol and being the winner in the final decision on next Wednesday.
We are banking that DeWyze will win it, but , then again, folks said the same thing with last year's runner up Adam Lambert and look what happened (Kris Allen won). But either way it goes, DeWyze will have a big career going. Oh and did you know he released two independent CDs already prior to Idol? Yeah, so hey, he isnt a virgin when it come sto the biz.

Oh, and we are sooooo late on DeWyze’s residence and him being fom the ILLMO area. In case you were wondering, his hometown, Prospect, Illinois is a near the outskirts of Chicago.

Speaking of Chicago talent and Idol, singer/actress, Jennifer Hudson, is just that close to jumping the broom with former reality show star and current WWE wrestler David Otunga. In a recent interview with E! news, Jennifer Hudson let the news slip that everything for the wedding is already set and she's just waiting for the big day to come.
"It’s coming up," Hudson told E! News while attending the Cannes Film Festival last weekend.

"Everything’s all ready to go."

But that was about all the new slim singer/actress gave the press as she was reportedly being very coy with her mannerisms about the subject.

The blockbuster movie, "Iron Man 2" remained at the No. 1 spot for the second week at the Box Office last weekeend raking in $52 million and totalling $211 million since its opening. The film stars Kansas City, Mo native , Acadamy Award nominated actor Don Cheadle.

This week , Missouri lawmakers gave final approval to a bill that would rename the "Mark McGwire Highway" in St. Louis for the Missouri author Mark Twain, The Associated Press reported.

Gov. Jay Nixon has to sign the legislation in order for it to become law.In 1999, Missouri named part of Interstate 70 in St. Louis for McGwire, the Cardinals current hitting coach, a year after he hit 70 home runs.

According to The AP, the push to remove the slugger's name from the highway had been considered for several years, but increased when he admitted to using steroids as a player.

From reports, the sign will be changed to for St. Louis raised humorist and author Mark Twain. Now we just need a bill drafted in State Congress to change the name it is changing it to. LOL How about Cornell Nelly Haynes Highway?

After a couple of false starts, STL native Junior middleweight titlist Cory Spinks(BOTTOM RIGHT) , who has not fought in more than a year, will FINALLY make his mandatory title defense against Cornelius Bundrage (UPPER RIGHT) on June 12.
Spinks will fight in his native St. Louis for the fifth time in his last seven fights when he faces the former star of "The Contender" reality series at the 10,600-seat Chaifetz Arena on the campus of Saint Louis University.

Spinks, the former undisputed welterweight champ and son of former heavyweight champ Leon Spinks, had been scheduled to meet Bundrage on March 26 in Las Vegas on an ESPN2 "Friday Night Fights" card. However, the card was canceled a week before the fight because of promoter Don King's issues with the main event, a vacant cruiserweight title bout between Steve Cunningham and Matt Godfrey.

\
King was able to reschedule Spinks-Bundrage at Chaifetz Arena, which will be hosting a boxing card for the first time since it opened in 2008. No TV plans were announced, but King spokesman Alan Hopper said King is considering offering it on his Web site, http://www.donkingtv.com/
, as he has done with other cards.

And getting back to Chi-town, one of its stars, Grammy Award wiing rapper/producer Kanye West is making newz, not with his music but for his relations. According to MediaTakeOut.com West and his bisexual model girlfriend Amber Rose are spiltting up but Amber is having a bad time dealing with for she's " been calling him DESPERATELY to try and get him back." But the story goes on to say that while she is dealing with the breakup that she may be jumping off with biseuxal reality show star Tila Tequila.
Hmm, that might be the catalyst to get Kanye back--can we say trois? LOL

Word on the streets is that Nelly is tapping into some heavy guest artists for his sixth studio album "5.0" based off the signature Mustang series which will also be featured on the album cover. Several big names have been reported as down with his follow up tothe lackluster "Brass Knuckles" including Akon, Usher , Janet Jackson, Jamie Foxx and even Sean “Diddy” Combs”. There was no scheduled date for the release eas of this blogging.

Former Destiny's Child star and Rockford, Illinois native Michelle Williams headed back to her alma mater, West Middle School, last Friday to talk with students to follow their dreams and focus on their goals.

She told the crowd, "I sat where you sat, I walked the same halls that you did... you can do what I do. You can do it better, I'm sure. It's about focusing and having goals, and I knew at a young age that I would be successful. I didn't know to what capacity, but I knew there were certain things I could not do. There were certain mistakes that (could) cost me my life, so I tried not to do those things.
It's about focusing and having goals, and I knew at a young age that I would be successful
"Create that thing around you. Just because you leave somewhere doesn-t necessarily mean it's going to be better. Create that fire that you want. Your focus needs to be on your education. "

Oh, she also forgot that its who you know, Hello???? And her case, Beyonce. LOL

Chi-town native Brian Smith survived another round in the weekly BET gospel reality show competition, "Sunday Best" making the Top 7 . Monikered "The Bowtie," Smith will vie for a national recording contract, a new automobile, a $300,000 prize package benefiting his or her community and the title "Sunday Best."

Chi-town talent dominates this week's ILLIMO BITZ, cuz another Chi-town name, rapper/actor Common will kick off Live on the Levee's free summer outdoors concert near the Archgrounds on July 9. Opening up will be DJ Needles . The Levee series also includes country legend Clint Black, alternative rockers Silversun Pickups and pop singer Sara Bareilles. They'll perform weekends beginning July 9 through the weekend of July 23,

And speaking of Common, his first leading role in the romantic comedy "Just Wright" with producer Queen Latifah was No. 4 last wekeend at the Box Office raking in $8.2 million.

Three music legends in the funk and hip-hop worlds are coming to the STL on its stages:

Funk legend George Clinton is headlining Chaifetz Arena’s Super Music Fest on August 28. Also on the bill are Cameo, Ohio Players and Zapp. Tickets are on sale now.

The 20th Anniversary House Party Concert Tour featuring Kid ‘n Play, will take place at the Chaifetz Arena July 2. Also on the bill are Montell Jordan Full Force, MC Lyte and Force M.D.’s .

90s R&B group Dru Hill turned it out last Friday at Majic 104.9’s Music Series at The Venue. Although lead singer Sisqo could have easily outshone the group, he gave each member of the group its moment on the spotlight. There was no “Thong Song” performed, but Sisqo did have a solo moment doing a King of Pop dance tribute by doing the “Billie Jean" routine from “Motown 25” (SEE PICS and RECAP at OUT 829)

Basketabll legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar was in the STL also last weekend to hosgt the Barnes Jewsih Hopspital ‘s annual gala at the Cahse Park Plaza. We hear that he was friendly and took pics and all but did not speak to the press (Hmm, guess he didnt wanna ask questions about dating actress Pam Grier in the 70s and how he wanted to change her into a Muslim according to her recent autobiography. LOL) . Earler on the day that he was to host at the gama, he visted pateiendts at the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Abdul-Jabbar has been fighting his own battle with cancer. He announced in November 2009 that he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia.

Terrence and Rosci of BET’s 106 and Park spent last Saturday at two different events. Early in the day, they particpated in East ST. Louis Olympian Jackie Joyner Kersee’s "Stop The Violence Youth Rally at her namesake center in East St. Louis. We hear that the duo had to make a mad dash to and from the podium to speak to the youth because of the youngsters trying to get at them with autographs and frenzied screams. Later on that day, they hosted and judged the Ear Candy Video Vixen Model Search Competition at The Venue and from what Facebook source said the duo would have given the STL a bad name for the type of outfits the sistas were wearing up in there showing things that should have been covered.
Oh my.

Blues man Jimmie Vaughan will perform June 18 at Beale on Broadway

Ronald Isley w/ Teena Marie concert has been cancelled. The concert was scheduled at The Fox Theatre in St. Louis June 5

Actress Elise Neal was a no show at the relaunch of Sutra Saturdays at Karma last Saturday. The event also closed down much earlier than its closing time. As of blog time, there were no explanation given as to why Neal did not show up and why the club was closed up early. All that we got from a source was the crowd turnout was bit light, and conventional wisdom with celebs who come to an event , if the house is not packed, they don't show up. So, who knows if that was the case this go round.

Three ILLIMO stars are coming to the Lou to be featured in local productions.

First Chi-town native and R&B singer Dave Hollister is starring in the STL based stageplay," Fight for Amazing Love" that will be staged in June at the Ambassador (SEE EVENTZ BELOW)

IN THE MIA FILE. Where is businessman/socialite Mike Roberts, Jr.?

BLIND PICZ. Who's hand was this waving in the air at the Dru Hill concert last Fridaty at The Venue?

BLIND BITZ. Late last year, an STL promotions team had a "special day in the month" party and it ended by one of the team members coming to blows with an assistant with the event. What special day was this party? Who were the promoters that had the party and who's member came to blows with an assistant? (HINT. The special day is after July and before December and the following day after this celebration, the vegans celebrate. The team's name " mirrors" their events and the head members of the promotion team's first names start with the same letter.)

PRO-MO-CIAL-I-CIOUS. Which promoters/socialites got it in this week? Promoters Mocha Latte and promoter/comedian Maurice G and club owner/promoter/actor Wells Fargo Slim

Mocha Latte. Surprised? Of course not. The venue is set, but we cannot disclose the location until the Queen does.

Maurice G. In between his weekly rehearsal schedule as one of the actors in the upcoming STL stageplay "Fight for Amazing Love" that will be staged at the Ambassadfor (SEE EVENTZ BELOW) the handsome comedian is still is continuing his promoting comedy on a monthly basis with his Fun E Katz promotions team.
