MIA SPOTLIGHT. Where is hypegirl Miss Bridgette?

THE BIG A&E STORY in the ILLIMO this week was Oak Park, Illinois native award winning actress Betty White and her appearnce on “Saturday Night Live" last Saturday. In a special ladies edition with SNL alums (a very pregnant) Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Ana Gasteyer, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, and Molly Shannon, critics are giving thumbs up to what they saw and heard.
White’s participation has been a big coup for SNL bosses - early estimates indicate the latest episode, featuring Jay-Z as the musical guest, drew the show’s largest TV audience in 18 months.

One Boston Chronicle critic wrote, “White made all of her material fly — as McGruber’s humiliating grandmother, as the “Little Women’’ lady who kept saying “Because she’s a lesbian,’’ as David Caruso’s great aunt in “CSI: Sarasota.’’ Every time she said “muffin’’ as the baker in the Gasteyer-Shannon NPR sketch, she killed. White’s comic ease and expertise, honed over decades on sitcoms, was not diminished by the rigors of live TV.”

In a digital short, the “SNL’’ cast paid tribute to her with a sentimental version of the “Golden Girls’’ theme song. But White put on a mask and led them in a head-banging version. And, in her opening monologue, instead of getting teary about the Facebook campaign to get her to host “SNL,’’ White ridiculed Facebook as a “huge waste of time.’’

Betty White may have breezed through her hosting duties on Saturday Night Live, but the 88-year-old isn't anxious for a repeat performance any time soon.
Visiting The Tonight Show on Wednesday, the octogenarian said of the gig, "It was a wonderful experience that I never have to do again."
White was invite don the show after fans led a campaign on Facebook for her to host after her hilarious performance on the Snicker’s commercial that aired during the Super Bowl in February.

Overall we thought the episode was quite good. It was great seeing White steal each secen she was in and the audience was pulling for her to do such that. And she did school the crowd in her opening that she did live TV in 1952 but “had no choice because we didn’t know ho wto tape back then.” It would have been cool if the writers of SNL would have write parody skit of “The Golden Girls” espcially with the reunion of the female cast members of the 2000s. Ana Gasteyer coul dhave played Dorothy, Rachel Dratch could have played Ma, Molly Shannon as Blanche and of course White playing her iconic role of Rose. Oh well. This SNL episode is the turning point in regards to TV powers-that-be being influenced by a “powerless” New Media (Facebook) that demended for White ti host—and it happened. We are sure this formula will be done yet again, if not already of the masses dictating what and who they wanna see on TV.

In unrelated Betty White newz, TV Land announced last week that production on the network’s first original sitcom, “Hot in Cleveland” starring Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and White which began this Monday (two days after White’s appearance on SNL) The 10 episode series will premiere June 16 on TV Land.

“Hot In Cleveland” revolves around three best friends from LA – novelist Melanie Moretti (Bertinelli), eye-brow archer to the stars Joy Scroggs (Leeves) and former soap star Victoria Chase (Malick) – who find their lives changed forever when their plane, headed for Paris, makes an unexpected landing. When the friends discover that they are hot in Cleveland, they decide to stay. Starting over, they rent a house that happens to come with a very feisty caretaker (White).

We are sure the network’s execs are turning cartwheels that White’s appearance on SNL was a smash which means a carryover for people to watch her on “Cleveland.”

Last week, it was reported that a new upcoming book on President Barack Obama and his administration by Washington Post investigative reporter biographer Bob Woodward will portray the President struggling for control of his domestic agenda, according to the publisher's catalog.
Simon & Schuster will release the book, currently untitled, this fall. The catalog said that Woodward's text will be based on "hundreds of interviews with key administration officials, deputies and other firsthand sources," along with "internal memos, letters, detailed chronologies,
For his new book, Woodward uses "intimate scenes told verbatim," and takes "readers deep into the national security state and shows how Obama debates, decides, and balances the enormous pressures facing the modern president."

Intimate scenes? Hmm is that code word for getting in Obama’s personal doings in the House?

St. Louis raised actress Niecy Nash was booted off on Dancing with the Stars Tuesday. Nash and professional partner Louis van Amstel became the seventh couple eliminated coming in 5th place.
Nash and van Amstel were ousted from the competition based on the combination of the Dancing with the Stars judges' scores they had received during Monday night's performance show and home viewer votes that were cast afterward. The show had featured the competition's five remaining couples performing ballroom and decade-themed Latin routines which were scored by Dancing with the Stars judges.
Nash and van Amstel had finished in last place for the second consecutive week on Monday night's judging leaderboard with 43 out of 60 possible points after receiving 23 points for their Viennese waltz and 20 points for their 1990s Paso Doble.

"I am a 40-year-old mother of three. I've got three C-sections under my belt and I was able to survive in this competition this long against some fantastic people -- and with the fact that I cannot hula-hoop with a Cheerio!" Nash said after Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron revealed the couple's elimination.
And I've been able to be one of the last women standing in this competition. I've had such a fantastic time being able to live out my dream right there... so I'm a happy girl."

"I thank you for molding this lump of clay into something. Thank you," she told van Amstel. "I have to thank everybody who supported us. We've had a wonderful fanbase."

Well, guess we will no longer see her “jiggy parts” anymore....for now. LOL

Kansas City native and Oscar nominated actor Don Cheadle made big news on and off screen. He was in the country’s No. 1 film last weekend at the Box Office, “Iron Man 2” that raked in 128 million. Cheadle played the dual roles of
Lt. Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes (replacing actor Terrence Howard) and the War Machine.

In unrelated Cheadle news, he is set to be honored as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for his work to save the planet. The actor first teamed up with the U.N. last year to front its climate change campaign, urging world leaders to sign a treaty limiting greenhouse gas emissions. Cheadle's efforts have won him high praise from organization officials and he will be promoted to a Goodwill Ambassador during a special ceremony on June 10.

And in more Cheadle newz, not all was good with the actor in the friendly skies and racial profiling . According to reports, Cheadle was traveling back to Los Angeles from a concert when he reportedly encountered a rude airline staff who thought he was trying to sneak into first class to sit next to his partner, Bridgid Coulter. But he insisted he was just asking if the couple could be seated together.

Cheadle reportedly decided to try a different approach and asked a stewardess when the couple boarded the aircraft - but he was shocked to find she was even ruder.

He explained, "I go up to a flight attendant on the plane and say, 'Ma'am, we're seated in different seats...' and she says, 'Well I can't change seats on the plane.' I said, 'No, I'm aware of that,' and she goes, 'What you (sic) want me to do about it?' (I said) 'Nothing, that's fine.'

"So later I go up to her (again) and ask her what was the problem. She went, 'Well, what did you want me to do about it?' So I said, 'I just wanted you to attend, help me.' So I turned around (to sit down) and she goes, 'Don't you turn your face to me. I will get you thrown off the plane.' The woman had to be on some drug, I imagine! So I used a colorful expression to her and kept moving to my seat..."

The flight attendant reportedly came to her senses and apologized to Cheadle.

"Right before the end (of the flight) she puts two bottles of Courvoisier (cognac) between our seats. I said, 'What is that? Why are you giving it to me?'

"She said, 'I'm sorry, this is my way of apologizing. I was told there was a black guy with a hat on sneaking into first class and I thought that was you.' So that's just racism? That's cool!"

To make matters worse, the airline crew member mistook the Oscar nominee for TV funnyman Tim Meadows.

Wow, all we can say is wow. Not only did the attendant label all black people look alike, but to be compared to Tim Meadows? (well, if you look at them they can favor blood brothers) . LOL. But seriously, so we guess there’s another acronym that will come from this FWB—Flying While Black.

Chicago native actress/singer and current Weight Watchers spokesperson Jennifer Hudson also had a an up and a down in her flourishing career.
Pre-production of her upcoming movie, “Winnie,” the bipoic about human rights activist Winnie Mandela beings May 31 in various locations around South Africa. It will be directed by Darrell James Roodt ("Yesterday") directs the South Africa/Canada co-production. Andre Pieterse of Ma-Afrika Films and Michael Mosca of Canada's Equinoxe Films produce. Pieterse and Roodt wrote the screenplay, which is based on the book "Winnie Mandela: A Life" by Anne Marie du Preez Bezdrob.
The downside was gossip reporter Jawn Murray reported on the Tom Joyner Morning Show this week that songs from Hudson’s upcoming sophomore CD has been panned by the A&R execs at J Records. Apparently the songs submitted have more of a Europop feel like Rihanna and execs wants her to retool and re-record. The album is slated for a September release.

So we guess she will be filming and recording at the same time. But this happenstance sounds exactly lie her fellow labelmate Jamie Foxx who’s material on his CD being pushed back because the execs were not feeling it and called up Justin Timberlake to help boost up the beats (talk about a swift kick in the R&B roots!). Hmm, guess Clive Davis knows best.

The BIG STL story was Rams owner hopeful Stan Kroenke (PICTURED) appeared before the NFL finance committee last week in New York City in reagrds to whether he was going to try and buy the other 60 percent of the Rams from the Rams owenr siblings or keep his minority ownership intact. Well, he decided neither. He wants his wife, Ann Walton—Kroenke (an heir to the Walmart empire) to buy the 60 percent share.
The issue at hand is Kroemke who has cross ownership with different sporting teams and violating the NFL ownership policy.
There has been no decision as of yet of Kroenke’s proposal, but come on yawl, we are sure the BFL can smell this crock a mile away. She buys the 60 percent and he will still have a say on the cotrol of ownership cuz of his being marrie dto the owner. Hilarious. And from reports, his wife can buy him out cuz she is the 9th richest woman in the country.

Hmm, seems like the competitor Shaid Khan who wants to purchase the 60 percent may be in favor now that Krenke has put the wifey as a proxy .

Speaking of the Rams, its star running back Steven Jackson had back surgery recently to help correct an injury he suffered last season. From reports, St. Louis coach Steve Spagnuolo will likely hold Jackson out of the start of the team's training this month, but doesn't expect the effects to linger.Jackson reportedly opted for surgery after rest failed to heal the injury suffered on Nov. 22.

Seems like sports critics'; main question in regards to talks about Mizzou joing the Big Ten Conference is, " What becomes of the Border War? The can't-miss , million dollar generated annual Missouri-Kansas football battle at Arrowhead Stadium.

St. Louis resident and award winning singer Ron Isley was a guest on the Tom Joyner Morning SHow this week talking about his release from incarceration last month and his ordeal with his taxes.

They said they treated him like a king when he was inside.
“The respect was fantastic , the only thing was I couldn’t come home. My family visited me four times a week every week when I was there. "
It was a camp with over 300 people there, not a prison. Isley was imprisoned at the Federal Correctional Institution at Terre Haute, Indiana, and was scheduled for release on April 13, 2010. He was moved to a half-way house in St. Louis, Missouri following an early departure that October.

Tom Joyner simply asked “Why just pay your taxes?”
“I paid them(IRS) but the case I had went bad," Isley said to Joyner, " and all the years I was fighting them it was like 'if you just say you did it we will give you six months. I didn’t want to plead guilty and do that."
Isley also said that he was caught up with paying his back taxes,

Royalties are a very important part of the equation rather your a producer, writer, rapper, singer, label.

BLACK REP BITZ

Art by Yasmina Reza May 5 - May 23, 2010 Art concerns the cataclysmic effect on three friends,Serge, Marc, and Yvan, when Serge purchases and expensive work of abstract art-a large painting consisting of white lines on a white canvas. Asthe three men engage in an ongoing debate over the value of thepainting, emotions run high and the conflict escalates to the pointof nearly destroying a long-standing friendship. ++++++++++ The Me Nobody Knows, Music by Gary William Friedman, Lyrics by Will Holt June 2 - July 2, 2010 A compelling musical based on the anthologized writings of more than200 inner city youth collected by school teacher Stephen M.Joseph. At odds with a squalid setting and a cynical, materialistic view of the world, themes of hope and renewal emerged.
