OUT 751--IILIMO A&E BITZ

Before we get into the bitz, this week commemorates the one year anniversary of the Inauguration of President Barack Obama into the Presidency as the 44th President (after the draft of the Constitution) and the Obamas in the White House.

Next week, Obama will give his 2nd State of the Union Address on Jan. 27 and The First Lady is currently on the cover of latest issue of Jet Magazine.

HEY OUTTOWNERS!

ITS WEDNESDAY--TIME TO GET OUT!

Prayers continue for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti as aides from across the world have come to the rescue of the city of Port au Prince. Also, just got word that another after shock occurred today that registered 6.1. (SEE HAITIAN EVENT BENEFITS DOWN BELOW)

THE BIG STORY THIS WEEK was the return of former St. Louis Cardinals slugger Mark McGwire
to St. Louis for the event Cardinals Care Winter Warmup at Hyatt Regency. On Sunday, McGwire reportedly emerged to a rock-concert atmosphere, and received a hero's welcome from still-adoring fans, who gave him a standing ovation for well over a minute .

At the event he told the crowd, “ I've learned a lot. First of all, you kids out there, steroids are bad. I made a huge mistake in my life, and it's something that I want you guys to learn from. They're illegal and they're bad for you. Don't ever, ever go down that road."

McGwire asked questions, expressing his excitement about taking over as the team's hitting coach and his relief at having admitted to steroid use after concealing it for more than a decade. He even cracked a joke, saying that if opposing fans come out to the park to boo him, "it might help bring more fans out to the ballpark to watch the Cardinals."
After speaking to the crowd, McGwire moved down to stage right and signed autographs for fans that rushed the stage. Reporters who had sat on the floor in front of the stage to hear McGwire's on-stage remarks squeezed around behind him,
“It's awesome to be back," he said before taking questions. "Visiting the [new] ballpark was phenomenal, first time I've seen it. It's going to be a joy to go to the ballpark every day to work. Most importantly I'm just glad they got [construction on Interstate 64] finished. That's the only reason why I'm coming back, is because they finally fixed it. I told my wife as soon as they fixed it maybe I'll get lucky and get hired."

But not everyone was happy of his revelation, mainly former 1980s Cards slugger Jack Clark (PICTURED) who also attended the Warmup. Prior to McGwire’s arrival to St. Louis, Clark told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that McGwuire “was a cheat and a fraud and
he won't shake his hand because just seeing him in uniform makes me throw up."Clark also said about steroid users, "They're all creeps. All these guys have been liars . . . They're not really a man's man. They're just whimpering boys who are just sad to watch . . . I don't know how they sleep at night, looking at all their fame, let alone the money they took by faking everybody out and lying to everybody."

When Clark arrived at the Warmup, he got a set of boos after his comments about McGwire’s interview with Bob Costas revealing taking steroids. Clark said that he was a “cheat and a fraud.” After the event, Clark reportedly said, "It's nice he said some stuff. But there are more than 100 others who are still to come forward. "I've just never seen a coach be bigger than the team in any way shape or form. I just don't get it."

Well we are thinking this was a great PR strategy in the McGwire camp for him to come out before coming to St. Louis and have the fans on his side—and it worked. And Jack Clark, who told his truth, was figuratively spat on by the STL crowd on his comments, Amazing. We wonder if the STL would have been all forgiven say, if it were Cards superstars Ozzie Smith, Bob Gibson or Lou Brock?

Two St. Louis based projects won big at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards out on at the Kodak Theatre Sunday. They were the TV drama, “Mad Men”(LEFT) which won Best Drama Series and one of its stars is STL native and Globe nominated actor Jon Hamm and director John Reitman (ABOVE) who won Best Adapted Screenplay for co-writing the partly filmed St. Louis-movie, “Up in the Air.”

Chi-town native and award winning singer/actress Jennifer Hudson made news not for her talent but for an incident that occurred to her at an airport. According to . MediaTakeOut.com, reports that Hudson got sexually assaulted at Washington DC's Ronald Reagan National Airport this week. According to reports, Hudson arrived at the airport and had a witness escort help her with her bags. That's when the escort allegedly had his private area BRUSH UP AGAINST Jennifer in a way that made her feel UNCOMFORTABLE and VIOLATED.

MediaTakeOut.com's witness claims that they can not CONFIRM OR DENY whether the brushing was intentional. But in either event, Jennifer IMMEDIATELY reacted and went off on the escort. "[Jennifer] allegedly pulled out her phone and made the man tell her fiance [David Otonga] what had happen and demanded an apology from the man."It's not clear what Jennifer's next steps will be, but the insider tells MediaTakeOut.com that there is some kind of investigation at the airport.

Wow, if this is true, this is very unfortunate.

In other Chi-town newz, its talk show queen Oprah Winfrey had two budding singing superstars on her show recently. The first was Grammy Award nominated singer/performer Lady Gaga who was on the show last Friday hours after suffering from dehydration and an irregular heartbeat and having to cancel a couple of gigs including Purdue University in Indiana. On Tuesday, British singing sensation Susan Boyle performed on the show, her first TV appearance of the New Year. The performance falls almost exactly one year after her legendary performance on "Britain’s Got Talent."

Rap superstar/mogul Nelly will be flossin his custom made Ford Mustang GT 5.0 that will be featured on Nelly’s upcoming album, Let's Get it, which is due out this spring (Talk about a promotion on a promotion!)

St. Louis native hit singer/producer Akon has expressed his condolences to producer Wyclef and showed support of his Yele Haiti organization during this tragic time.

"I know how much passion and love he has for his country and that's why he does so much for Haiti in general," Akon said. "And I can understand it. I feel his pain in all aspects because if it happened in Senegal, I'd be in the same position. So that's why we do whatever we can and assist him in whatever it is, including him and everyone else, they all need help. I think we should put our hands in that same pot and try to find a way to stir that soup [together]."

Akon also responded to the recent allegations that were brought upon WyClef and his non-profit organization by The Smoking Gun. "A lot of times, things like [critiques of Wyclef's organization] are really irrelevant," Akon said in an interview with MTV. "Because it's obvious he's trying to do good. Especially for Haiti, his loyalty to Haiti, you can't really question. In the beginning his foundation was in the start-up stages and he had to get the team together, he had to find the right staff and crew that could actually handle those things.

"He had a lot on his plate. Naturally, of course, when you have a lot on your plate, you're an entertainer and you're moving around performing and doing humanitarian acts through the world, it's going to be hard to keep an eye on everything with your foundation. Some things are going slip through the cracks. But I don't think that's fair to put him under the gun for things like that because at the end of the day, you know where his heart is."

We ditto Akon's sentiments. Even in good, there are some bad seeds.

Two STL icons get lauded by their fans. One third of the superstar boy band Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas, performed before a sold out crowd of screaming girls (and some “zesty” guys) Tuesday at the Pageant. Nick, who has an off shoot group called the Administration, reportedly asked one of STL’s music reviewers, Kevin Johnson, to see him after the show for his opinion about his show (and according to Johnson on Facebook, Jonas’ management called him for the request). According to Johnson on
http://www.stltoday.com/, he told Jonas:

After the show, per Jonas’ request, I ventured backstage to tell him what I thought of his show before he jumped on his tour bus for Wednesday’s show in Milwaukee. I told him I was impressed because he could’ve coasted along for years to come as a Jonas Brother, but instead he stepped out of the box and decided to do something different. I also said as a guy of a certain age, I could relate to this new, more mature and soulful music he was doing than I could Jonas Brothers music.”
The 17-year-old heartthrob also asked Riverfront Times’ Annie Zaleski, her opinion as well.

Good thing Nick didn’t ask OUTTOWN’s opinion, cuz we woulda said , “Uh...nice hair. “ LOL

Evening Whirl photographer King Yella (FAR RIGHT OF PIC) made the popular gossip blog MediaTakeout. No, not for any of his biz, but for a pic that the website used from his photo logs. Yella posed with rapper Mystikal (they are good friends) during his visit to the rapper (PICTURED) during his stint in Louisiana's Elayn Hunt Correction Center. The rapper was released from prison Jan 14 after serving six years for a sexual battery and extortion charge with his female hair stylist.

Hmm, we just find it interesting that MediaTakeOut always wants journalists to credit them as a source to stories and such, but didnt even mention King Yella in their story, just used his pic (which obviously has his name on the pic).

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ:????????????????????
AT THE GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS Why did the paparazzi get a close up shot of nominee Mo'Nique and her hairy legs? Why did the orchestra cut off non-stars on their award winning speeches and not the celebrities when they won? Why did Tom Hanks' make a tastletess sex joke about Meryl Streep's co-star in "Complicated?" Why did Avatar win Best Picture? Why was awardee Drew Barrymore blabbering when she won? Why didnt the show Dexter win Best Drama but its stars Michael Hall and John Lithgow did? And why are people thinking Hall won because he disclosed a week ago he has cancer? AND Why did Mickey Rourke butcher Gaby Sibidie's name when he called her name as one of the nominees in the Best Actress category?

OTHER WHY'S: Why are radio stations editing Trey Songz's song, "I Inveted Sex" by shortening it to "I Invented?" Why are there so many scammers on the Haitian relief?
