NOTE: On Thursday, July 12, OUTTOWN will spinoff to a new blog called OUTSTAGIN, giving a stage (or platform) to mover and shakers in the arts and entertainment in the STL area (and “out of town”) by ways of interviews and features. It also will focus on recaps and reviews of fashion and style as seen at red carpeted, regular club events, and fashion shows. Lastly, in our theme of stages, we will review live theater, and concerts.

Also noted,  we will only compile once a week on Thursdays.

And don’t worry, we will still have the OUTTOWN faves such as BLIND DISHZ, BLIND PICZ, PROMOCIALITES, BDAZEs and EVENTZ, but  the weekly compilations of top stories in the Midwest will be eliminated.

THE BIG A&E NEWZ STORY THIS WEEK IS:

The White House Correspondence Dinner took place Saturday  at the Washington Hilton Hotel, with 2,000 guests including everyone from George Clooney, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, Anne Curry and Barbara Walters to of course the Prez and a very chic looking First Lady Michelle Obama.

Jimmy Kimmel hosted evening included a jam-packed red carpet that welcomed tons of celebs. The
President began his comedy routine this year not at the podium but offstage, in a stunt involving a backstage "open-mic" with Obama tossing out lines such as: "Why is she [Kim Kardashian] famous anyway?," "I'm like a five on the 'Just for Mens' scale," "I literally have no idea what I'm saying tonight," and "God forbid we keep Chuck Todd and the cast of Glee waiting."

One of Obama's best knee-slappers included referencing an important anniversary."Last year at this time, in fact on this very weekend, we finally delivered justice to one of the world's most notorious individuals." But instead of showing Osama Bin Laden, Obama flashed a photo of Donald Trump.
He even kidded about stories that as a child in Indonesia he had eaten dog. (You can watch the full speech here.)
“What’s the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull?,” Obama joked at one point. “A pit bull is delicious.”

 As for Kimmel's jokes, the funnyman made some digs about Obama's appearance, "You're very skinny...you lost so much weight we thought you were the guy who won the Boston marathon."
And according to Kimmel, the next "biggest threat to America" is "sitting right there—Kim Kardashian."
Yet the best line of Kimmel's roast may have been saved for last, with a personal shout out to former teacher Mr. Mills, who said he would "never amount to anything," to which Kimmel declared: "Well, Mr. Mills, I'm about to high five the President of the United States."
These dinners are reminiscent of Dean Martin Roasts that used to be on TV in the 1970s when celebs rib each other with G rated jokes (Speaking of jokes, Obama's eating dog joke was a bit bizarre!)If anything, Obama will go down as The Cool Prez under pressure and in the spotlight (besides he has two Grammies, one more than Bill Clinton. LOL). But it just behooves us that Kim Kardashian was there. I mean, you can’t knock her hustle, but she went from giving Ray J sex on tape to being one of the most richest marketers in the country and laughing at Obama’s jokes. Only in AmericaAnd how cool was it that Obama mentioned Young Jeezy in his joke telling (We wonder if he actually listens to his music. LOL) . We re sure Jeezy and his record label are looking at I Tunes stats and collecting from the shout out--can you say free publicity?. LOL

The Jennifer Hudson Family Murder trials continued this week in Chicago.  Some of the things that  had taken place was thetroubling 911 call that Hudson's sister, Julia Hudson (PICTURED), placed when she found her mother's lifeless body in 2008 been released by the judge.
Julia Hudson's ex-husband, 30-year-old William Balfour, is accused of murdering Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew. In the chilling 911 call, placed after Julia Hudson first entered the house and found her mother,she said,. "Oh my God ... Somebody's killed my mother," Julia Hudson is heard screaming into thephone after discovering her mother's body.  "She's on the floor and I see blood coming from her head." "Somebody's killed my mother! Somebody's killed my mother! Please!"
Hudson confirmed that she needed an ambulance on site, noting that she can't find her son. "I don't know where Julian is or nothing and I'm here by myself," she said, noting that she "just got home from work" and "there's a bullet hole in our front door."
Prosecutors reportedly tried to prevent the tape from being released since the jurors had not begun deliberations, but Cook County Judge Charles Burns reportedly ruled in favor of it's public releasing, noting that jurors have been warned to read news reports about the high profile case.

Also, a witness, Reginald Jones,  in the trial said he saw the defendant (Balfour) spying on the Hudson family's home in the summer  of 2008 before the murders.
Jones testified Tuesday that he was walking near the Hudson home when he was startled by Balfour, who was sitting in the dark on the rear stairs underneath the bedroom window of his estranged wife, Julia King.
Under questioning by the defense, Jones reportedly said he would open the door to the Hudson home for customers seeking to buy drugs from Jason Hudson. He also said he helped prepare cocaine for sale.

We think the 911 call is big evidence of persuading the jurors on how they will rule, but our question is, where is the gun that Balfour allegedly used? If that is put in as evidence, then it’s a wrap, but if there’s no concrete evidence of Balfour killing Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew, he could be ruled “not guilty.”

In related J Hud Trial newz, Jennifer Hudson, reportedly arrives each day at the trial of the man accused of killing three of her close family members with her personal bodyguards in tow. She reportedly uses a secret entrance to elude photographers, eats in private and waits for proceedings to start in normally off-limits judge's chambers.
Hudson reportedly also  slips from the courtroom during particularly gory testimony.  Her accommodations have been reported as special star treatment.

A judge liaison reportedly said "Absolutely not,"  and  that most accommodations, are courtesies routinely extended to victims enduring the grim ordeal of sitting through a murder trial. Others, he conceded, are necessary because Hudson  is a celebrity.
"Star status means things have to be a little different," he said. "You just can't have a celebrity walking about, going to the cafeteria — people running up to ask for autographs."

We can agree with the liaison. Besides, Jennifer Hudson is going to draw attention wherever she goes. Any celebrity driven case is going to cause a frenzy in a celebrity driven society. With a serious matter such as murder, we think that it’s a appropriate for the court to make discretions to not add extra attention that’s not needed.

Chicago bred rap superstar Kanye West is back in the newz on his liaisons wih reality show star Kim Kardashian. He also made newz for what he was pulling up.

After“Kimye” had an eventful weekend together, last weekend,  Ye had a wardrobe malfunction when his pants were caught down during a night out on the town in New York City. Ye reportedly dined with Kardashian at N62 restaurant in Manhattan last Friday night . Afterwards, they traveled in his silver Maybach and arrived at 'Ye's apartment. The couple exited from the vehicle and reportedly shared a little more than he bargained for in front of the paparazzi. West's black leather pants reportedly slipped down, despite the fact he was wearing a belt. Both his underwear and thigh were reportedly exposed.

Mediatakeout reported that maybe Kardashian was giving him some “brain” in his car and Ye was fiing his pants when he got out the car.

It does look a little suspect of why Ye’s pants were down, but our question is, ‘What type of underwear was he wearing? ‘because based on the pic, the sides of his upper thigh does not expose of any underwear (a thong, maybe?) Who knows.

The Annual MTV Movie Awards were announced its nominations this week.  Three ILLIMOIans, who were in the same movie, were nominated. Plainfield, Ill native Melissa McCarthy was nominated for two  solo awards: Breakthrough and Comedic Performance for her role in he hit film, “Bridesmaids.” St Louis native actress Ellie Kemper also was nominated for Breakthrough Performance in the same film.

ALSO

 St Louis native actor Jon Hamm was nominated for Dirt Bag Performance also for “Bridesmaids."
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Speaking of Jon Hamm, he made a surprising appearance on the live  telecast of “30 Rock” that aired Thursday, celebrating — and skewering — live TV shows from the past. He appeared in a wig and blackface in sketch that overly satirizes racist television.
In the episode, Kenneth, the NBC page, set up the show thusly: “NBC had the first two black characters on TV — sort of. For ‘Alfie and Abner,’ NBC hired one African American and one Caucasian because they thought two black people on the same show would make the audience nervous. A rule NBC still uses today.”
Tracy Morgan played an exasperated yet eloquent Alfie, who grew increasingly angry as Hamm’s Abner said things, like “Zip-a-dee-doo-doo!”
Alex Rabinowitz, who runs the blog Pop Culture Brain, said in a post he was surprised there weren’t many angry responses to Hamm’s blackface. Indeed, the majority of the responses to the moment are filled with praise.
We saw the pic, and Hamm wasn’t in blackface, he just had smudge on his cheeks. But the commentary is quite telling of how TV works in real life when it comes to the paranoia of casting black performers on TV.

The Annual Billboard  Music Awards announced their nominations recently. ILLI MOians who were nominated were Chicago bred rapper Kanye West (featured with Katy Perry) for Hot 100 Song and Top Pop Song for “E.T.,” St Joseph, Mo native Eminem for Top Social Artist and Chicagoan singer Jennifer Hudson  was nominated for  Top R&B  Album for "I Remember Me."

The Chicago Bears was No 19 in last week’s NFL Draft. In the First Round, The Bears selected Shea McClellin. In the second round, traded up five spots, relieving themselves of a fifth-round pick( trading their fifth-round pick to the St. Louis Rams) and their second-round pick to grab Alshon Jeffrey. The draft moved on to the third round, and it was used on Brandon Hardin When Chicago announced it would use its fourth-round selection to select Evan Rodriguez, a FB/TE hybrid. The sixth- and seventh-round picks were used to grab Isaiah Frey and Greg McCoy—two cornerbacks.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The Chicago Bulls players reportedly came to the defense of their head coach Saturday when asked if Tom Thibodeau should have had Derrick Rose on the court at the time he tore his left ACL late in their playoff-opening 103-91 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Sixers reportedly had whittled a 20-point deficit to 12 when Rose jump-stopped and elevated. He grabbed his left knee as he landed with 1:22 left and the Bulls leading 99-87. Rose writhed in pain before being helped off the court. The reigning MVP reportedly underwent an MRI that revealed a season-ending torn ACL.

Rose's injury status has been a season-long storyline for the Bulls. He missed 27 games -- during which the Bulls went 18-9 -- with a variety of injuries, from turf toe, to back spasms, to a pulled groin, to a foot injury.

+++++++++++++

In related Rose newz,  a Nike shoe designer mocked Derrick Rose's season-ending ACL injury on Twitter on Sunday, igniting a firestorm of criticism on the social media website.
Jason Petrie, who designed LeBron James' signature sneakers, tweeted that Rose should have signed with Nike (instead of Addidas) after the Chicago Bulls superstar tore his ACL in the final minutes of Game 1 of Chicago's Eastern Conference quarterfinals series against the Philadelphia 76ers.

This is insane to blame a sneaker for Rose’s injury.

The late-night entertainer appeared in Chicago on Saturday for a special performance to commemorate the organization's 40th anniversary.

THE BIG STL A&E STORY IS:

KSDK personality Julie Tristian, the new host of the magazine show, “Show Me St. Louis” has gone viral in the onlinesphere with her flirtatious interview with St Louis Cardinals 2011 World Series hero  David Freese  that aired this week. The interview had taken place at Six Flags on a piece about the opening of the amusement park ride Mr Freeze.   In the interview Tristan  brought her girlfriend for  it and awkwardly asked Freese  has a girlfriend, whether he prefers blondes or brunettes and if he thinks she and her friend are pretty.
All while telling Freese she loves him.

Wow talk about a “blonde” moment. But whats so wild about it, Tristan may get some national talk show buzz (if not already) or even being interviewed herself. We can bet that for sure. Our question is, who , at the assignment desk of KSDK thought it was a good idea for Tristan to flirt with Freese. We wonder if this interview will backfire and having even more jobs at KSDK to be gone or give KSDK and Tristan higher ratings.

AND

The St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission and St. Louis Rams’ deadline of May 1 on their back and forth proposal jocking on who will help fund the 100 million plus  improvements of the Edward Jones Dome before the lease terms at the end of the 2015 NFL season.  St Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke sent CVC its counterproposal Feb 1 and May 1 was the deadline for CVC to say YES or NO to but this go round, the Rams’ owner Stan Kroenke  strong armed  the CVC who manages the Dome for the  proposal terms not be disclosed to the media or public (as opposed to the prior proposals being disclosed)

The proposal is now in a judges hands and the deadline to go to court is June 1.

From reports CVC, which is a public firm, and  the Post-Dispatch both filed lawsuits Wednesday, presenting arguments about  the public not being informed of the Rams’  counterproposal. The CVC wanted to know what were its limitations in disclosing the document (it feels full disclosure to the public would affect negotiations) and the Post wanted the CVC to disclose the documents bar none as applied to the “Sunshine Law”, the state's open-records law exempting certain  public bodies to withhold certain records related to contracts.

The CVC in its suit argues that records related to the Dome talks aren't covered by the Sunshine Law and that if it is not legally required to release the documents but does so, it could breach a confidentiality clause in the Dome lease. That could open the door for the team to terminate the lease altogether, a CVC lawyer contends.

The Post-Dispatch maintains that none of the Sunshine Law exemptions apply to the CVC and Rams proposals because they pertain specifically to a lease that is already an effective contract.

From earlier reports, if it goes into arbitration, a decision if The Rams can move out of St Louis after the 2015 could be decided by December 2012.

We think Stan Kroenke and The Rams has the upper hand in the negotiations. After the CVC loosened the terms of the contract by allowing Kroenke to have a game out of the country in London during the 2012 Season, the CVC had lost its power in the negotiations. What we think will happen is, The Rams will get the public to fund most of the renovations and have it as an ballot amendment. And if the public votes NO, then the contract will be null and void and the Rams will leave the city in 2005.

The St. Louis Rams took their next step towards returning to contention in last week’s NFL DRAFT. Listed at No., 14  in the draft, they  selected LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers.

Here are the other picks in the other seven rounds:
Second round - 33rd pick: Brian Quick, WR, Appalachian State; Janoris Jenkins, CB, Isaiah Pead, RB, Cincinnati

Third round - Trumaine Johnson, CB, Montana

Fourth round (96): Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest
Fifth round (150): Rokevious Watkins, OG, South Carolina
Sixth Round (171): Greg Zuerlein, K, Missouri Western
Seventh Round (209): Aaron Brown, LB, Hawaii

The St. Louis Cardinals will honor former manager Tony La Russa, announcing this week they will retire their former manager's No. 10 this month. La Russa retired last fall after leading the franchise to a second World Series title in his 16 seasons. He left the game ranked third all time in managerial victories, trailing Connie Mack and John McGraw. The jersey will be retired May 11 before the Cardinals' game against the Atlanta Braves.

The St Louis Blues lost back-to-back games to the Los Angeles Kings at Scott Trade Center last Saturday and Monday  to fall behind 0-2 in the best-of-seven semifinal series. After a franchise-best record of 30-6-5 at home in the regular season, the club is a mediocre 2-2-1 at. The Blues  will play Game 3 against LA tonite, Thursday at Staples Center.

Controversial radio personality J.C. Corcoran was let go Thursday from his afternoon show at KTRS (550 AM). According to Deb Peterson of stltoday.com, sources at the station said Trish Gazall, who was Corcoran's sidekick on the noon to 3 p.m. show called "The Showgram," will remain at the station.

The firing was "a cumulative effect of J.C. picking fights that he didn't need to pick," said one source. Another said Corcoran had a penchant for straying into subject matter station management thought was inappropriate and persisted even after he had been asked to stop.

His substitute since his firing has been Corchran’s substitute Mr Smash until May 14  when Fox 2 sports personality Martin Kilcoyne will replace J.C. Corcoran in the noon to 3 p.m. slot at KTRS (550 AM), Mark Dorsey, the station’s general manager, reportedly said.

Dorsey said Kilcoyne will start out doing the show solo but can add people if he wants. Trish Gazall, who was Corcoran’s sidekick, is still employed by the station, Dorsey said, but added that he does not know her plans.

Corcoran is St. Louis' most frequently recycled shock jock. A rough count shows he has worked at 13 local radio and TV stations during his 28 years here and was off the air for a year before starting his three-hour daily show at KTRS on Oct. 25, 2010.

Well, we are sure Cochran got a nice severance package but we think he should do webcasts where the restraints of management isn’t as strict.  But we were hoping that recently fired John Carney was going to replace Cochran because he is a perfect fit with KTRS’ colorful commentators.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In related changes to KTRS, Steve Cochran, who has been doing shows in two time slots at KTRS – from 10 a.m. to noon and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. – and one from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on WIND (564 AM) in Chicago, will get a much needed break with the changes. Dorsey said Cochran will only do the
10 a.m. to noon show starting May 14.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++

And in more media personality shakeups, according to Deb Peterson of stltoday.com  several KSDK TV several personalities’ jobs will not be renewed.  One in particular is Jeff Small, who will leave the station in June.  Others rumored to be leaving the station are reporters Kasey Joyce and Courtney Gousman. The contracts for Small and reporter Ann Rubin both expired in February and they got extensions that will take them through June. While Small is definitely out, Rubin, "is a question mark."

Veteran education reporter Sharon Stevens called to say that her contract is up next year.

Small Facebooked recently that he did a live report on The Weather Report  on the Saturday tornados so it looks like he may have a gig coming after KSDK.

ADD: According to reports,  Michael and Steven Roberts bought a little breathing room for their beleaguered Roberts Mayfair Hotel on Monday.

At their venue closing hearing,  Roberts Hospitality Services reportedly paid off delinquent state sales taxes on the Mayfair, and $15,000 towards a sales tax bond, according an order issued by Circuit Judge Joan Moriarty in a lawsuit filed by the Missouri Department of Revenue. The state last month reportedly sued to close two Roberts hotels – the Mayfair and their Comfort Inn in the Central West End – over $212,000 in unpaid taxes.
The state is reportedly seeking a larger bond on the Mayfair, and taxes on the Central West End hotel are still outstanding. Last week, a judge reportedly put that hotel into receivership over a second lawsuit filed against it by Pulaski Bank. Moriarty set another hearing May 29 on the taxes for both hotels.
