OUT 1100--ILLI MO BITZ (FEB.9-15)

HEY OUTTOWNERS!

ITS THAT TIME!!

TIME TO GET TOWNED!!!

BLACK HISTORY MONTH BITZ

This week we feature inventor Sarah E. Goode. She was an entrepreneur and inventor. She was the first African American woman to receive a United States patent.[1]

Goode was born in 1850 into slavery. She was freed after the American Civil War and proceeded to open a furniture store in Chicago, Illinois.[2] She noticed that those who lived in apartments in the city had very little space for beds, so she invented a folding cabinet bed and received patent for it on July 14, 1885. When the cabinet bed was folded up it looked like a desk, including spaces for writing instruments and storage.[1]

MISTA COUTURE BITZ

2012 Mr Couture Popular Vote Winner David Rodriguez made his promotional debut last Saturday at Ola and Tan Hollywood’s bday gala held at Copia Winery in downtown St. Louis. Here he’s pictured with two of the models who participated in the fashion show portion of the show.

St Louis real estate investor Derrick Hibbler has a new daily blog for those who are interested in info on buying a home or apartment and other tidbits in the field. It is edited by OUTTOWN.

THE BIG A&E NEW STORY THIS WEEK IS:

Oak Park, Ill native and 2012 Grammy nominee Betty White made newz this week with her featured spot on the promo commercial during the Super Bowl for NBC's 'The Voice' . She hands down upstaged the show’s stars Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Cee-Lo Green who were in the 70s kung fu themed commercial, who battle each other in a hotel lobby after hearing a beautiful voice coming from one of the rooms upstairs.

The 90-year-old makes a cameo appearance in The Voice Super Bowl commercial upstaging the show’s judges

Betty White steps out of the shower revealing herself as the unknown voice. "It's about time somebody wanted me for my voice, and not my body," she says.

This makes White’s second big super bowl commercial following the Snickers commercial in 2010 which helped resurge her career.

White seems to do no wrong and her comeback continues to grow. Good for her!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In related White newz, the 90-year-old actress, who stars in the TV Land sitcom Hot In Cleveland, recorded a congratulatory message for the Super Bowl-winning New York Giants Monday after the Superbowl. In the message she warns the champs, wearing a Cleveland Browns sweater jacket that the Browns on the set of her TV show, “Hot in Cleveland” may be a challenge to him next Superbowl.

You can watch White’s video message to the Giants here below.

In more Superbowl newz, St. Louis was represented with national commercials during the most watched TV event in TV history.

Bud Light Platinum made its television ad debut during Super Bowl XLVI. Anheuser-Busch's newest brand had two 30-second ads during the first quarter of the game.

AND

Anheuser-Busch also had two ads each for Bud Light and Budweiser. The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales was featured in one of the Budweiser ads.

Here is a list of the ads that aired:

First Quarter - "Factory" (Bud Light Platinum) - The process of creating something truly Platinum is revealed. (:30); "Work" (Bud Light Platinum) - This office is anything but conventional. (:30)

Second Quarter - "Return of the King" (Budweiser) - A town celebrates as the Clydesdales usher in a historic moment in American history. (:60)

Third Quarter - "Eternal Optimism" (Budweiser) - Highlights of American achievements throughout history, with the assurance of more to come. (:60)

Fourth Quarter - "Rescue Dog" (Bud Light) - Calling this dog's name unveils a special trick. (:60)

FLOTUS Michelle Obama continued her Let’s Move Campaign by going on several national talk shows which started with her appearance on The Tonight Show last week.

She also made an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show, where she came out to an energetic dance routine with the chat show queen by her side.

After busting some moves, Obama- who's famous for showing off her toned arms - was challenged to a push up competition by her host.

She managed an impressive 25 repetitions - prompting Ellen to joke that she didn't do as many because she "didn't want to show up the first lady".

Also, talk show host Jimmy Fallon challenged First Lady Michelle Obama in a fitness competition at the White House last month to promote her initiative.

Upon Fallon's arrival, Mrs. Obama asked, "Are you ready for a little competition?"

Inside of the blue room in the White House, Obama and Fallon competed in pushups, tug of war, hula hoops and dodge ball. The score was tied, but Obama triumphed over Fallon in a potato sack race.

After Fallon was defeated, he said, "It doesn't matter if you won or lost," and the first lady replied, "It matters."

The competition between Fallon and Obama was taped Jan. 25, but aired during Fallon's talk show on Feb. 7.

We’re ready for FLOTUS’ workout tape. Can’t you just see that? LOL

Pop legend Madonna who made newz this week for her over-the-top Halftime Show on the Sunday’s Superbowl announced this week the schedule for her upcoming 2012 World Tour promoted by Live Nation. Two of her dates will be in the ILLI MO area. She will be in Kansas City, Mo at the Sprint Center on Oct. 30 and St. Louis, Mo (her first time touring in this city) at the Scott Trade Center Nov. 1.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

According to the Chicago Tribune, Cape Girardeau, Mo native talk show host Rush Limbaugh weighed in on Clint Eastwood's Super Bowl ad for Chrysler, this week on his syndicated radio show deeming it "puke city" and suggesting that the actor/director got "suckered" into narrating the spot.

Limbaugh devoted a segment of his radio show to the "Halftime in America" ad, which has drawn criticism from certain conservatives who claim that the spot contains a pro-Obama message.

"A two-minute commercial is not a commercial: It's a PSA," Limbaugh opined, before tearing into the spot. The radio host suggested that the message of national unity contained in the ad was meant to benefit the Democratic party, which he believes will get "creamed" in the 2012 elections.

Limbaugh also gave Eastwood "the benefit of the doubt" -- by painting him as a dupe.

Limbaugh went on to offer his own parody of the ad, which urged listeners to "come together as one great nation and kick skinny butt back to Chicago."

Limbaugh needs to go SAT down somewhere and pick some more boogers out of his nose. LOL.

+++++++++++++++++++

Friends and family members got together Wednesday night at the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago for a love-filled goodbye to “Soul Train” creator and Chicago native Don Cornelius. There will also be memorial service for Chicago native talk show icon Don Cornelius will take place Feb13 in Los Angeles. There’s no word as of this blogging if it'll be open to the public.

+++++++++++++++++++++

Changes are coming to current Chicago resident Rosie O’Donnell’s The Rosie Show on the OWN network. The show has been struggling in the ratings, and Rosie had recently had to layoff 30 workers and move to a smaller studio. The Rosie show is dropping the game show segments and will have more intimate conversations with the guests.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

Chicago native and 2012 Grammy nominee R Kelly is back with a new song called, “Share My Love” that’s been on radio this week. The song will appear on his upcoming album, “Write Me Back,” that will be coming out in May. He is also coming out with a new book about his life titled “Soul-A-Coaster” that is coming out June 12.

+++++++++++++++++++

There will be a tribute TV special for the late Chicago native comedian Bernie Mac. when the World Premiere of "'I Ain't Scared Of You' A Tribute To Bernie Mac" debuts on COMEDY CENTRAL February 19. some of those who were interviewed for the special were Jefferson, Mo native comedian and fellow “Original Kings of Comedy” partner Cedric The Entertainer and Kansas City, Mo native actor Don Cheadle.

++++++++++++++++++

Speaking of “Original Kings of Comedy,” one of the comedians, radio personality and Family Feud host Steve Harvey will film his new daily talk show in Chicago in the Fall. Harvey describes the show as inspirational, uplifting and insightful. He says there will be lots of entertainment and laughs.

ILLI MO BITZ REALITY

A few ILLI MOians got camera time and got a golden ticket on American Idol during the St. Louis auditions that aired last Thursday. They were Rochelle Lamb who sang Faith Hill's "Find Somebody New,” Reis Kloeckener, who sang Bill Withers' "Lean on Me." And the highlight--Ethan Jones who sang Edwin McCain’s “I’ll Be”, told the judges that his father, a musician, was currently being treated for drug and alcohol addiction, a fact that seemed to further endear him to Tyler, himself a recovering addict. Another ILLI MOIAN Mark Ingram who auditioned while on his break at the hotel where the auditions had taken pakce and where he worked. He sang Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed." but did not get a golden ticket.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

THE BIG STL A&E NEWZ STORY IS:

There was a temporary delay of the ticket sale of one of the St Louis Rams 2012 games when the The St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission challenged the legality of The Rams’ playing one of its home games in London to play the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium set for Oct 28. The legality came about in regards to the lease agreement made by the CVC that all home games must be played in the Edward Jones Dome, the Rams home stadium that the CVC manages.

This week, after the dispute, ticket sales for the Rams proposed London game next season have resumed again.

.

The CVC released a statement about working out a deal.

“The CVC and the Rams have been discussing a resolution to this issue and are trying to come up with a solution that benefits the St. Louis community and the Rams. This will require an amendment to the lease which will need to be approved by the parties when finalized.”

The proposed London games are part of a bigger discussion with the Rams over whether they will stay in St. Louis and what it will cost to fix up the Edward Jones dome to make it in the top tier of NFL stadiums.

The CVC has reportedly offered to pay just under $60 million toward $124 million in stadium improvements. It’s not clear yet whether public money will be sought. The Rams have yet to respond publicly to the CVC offer. The CVC has given The Rams a March 1 deadline to approve the initial proposal.

Hmm, interesting that the statement said that “an amendment” must be generated and approved and finalized. So does this mean that the amendment was approved? If so, doesn’t that negate the whole lease in regards to the Rams having to stay in St Louis to play their games before the 2014 lease ends? Just a thought.

In unrelated Rams newz, The St. Louis Rams reportedly hired Frank Cignetti to be their quarterbacks coach—giving Sam Bradford a QB coach a year after neglecting the position entirely and having Bradford to learn plays on his own when he joined the team in 2010. He served as the Saints' quarterbacks coach in 2000 and held the same position with the 49ers—where he mentored another number-one overall quarterback, Alex Smith—in 2007.

Late last month, former St. Louis Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo accepted a job with the New Orleans Saints to become their new defensive coordinator.

In more Rams newz, The St. Louis Rams may be close to landing their new general manager, according to Steve Wyche of the NFL Network. Owner Stan Kroenke will be weighing on the final decision soon, rounding out the team's new leadersip troika with head coach Jeff Fisher and COO Kevin Demoff.

Wyche reports that the team is down to "two or three" candidates for the position, citing a team source. They plan to parade those finalists in front of Kroenke in the coming days and have a GM hired next week sometime.

As far as who those finalists might be, that remains to be seen. Vikings personnel exec George Paton is the only candidate known to have interviewed twice since the Fisher hiring became official. Les Snead of the Falcons has interviewed twice as well, once prior to Fisher's hiring. Others to have interviewed include Tom Gamble of the 49ers and Steve Keim of the Cardinals .

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

American Idol auditioner and Pantoon Beach, Ill native Ethan Jones was at Mile 277 Bar and Grill in St Louis last Friday nite ,reportedly taking pictures with new fans who fell for the blond with the big smile and the sad backstory during his four minutes on national television on Americna Idol St Lousi auditions last Thursday nite. Nearby stood reportedly a security guard and his manager Johnny Holzum, leader of local band Well Hungarians, a band that Jones is a singer . The group had a gig at the nightclub that night.

There reportedly were calls that poured into Mile 277 through that day from people asking if Jones was performing with the band.The bar was filled to capacity, with people waiting hours for a table.
