OUT 710--STL TIDBITZ

HELLO OUTTOWNERS! ITS WEDNESDAY--TIME TO GET TOWNED!
Before we get into the A&E from the ILLI AND MO:

BREAKING NEWZ: STL jazz singer Denise Thimes had an encounter she had earlier this week, but this one was with the police. Thimes, who was on FOX 2 on Tuesday, said she was arrested for disturbing the peace while having a meal at Culpeppers.

"I was in a west end restaurant Culpeppers. I was having lunch with a friend and there was screw in his soup," Thimes said. " We called the waitress over and she got the manager, waitress saw the screw and the manager immediately insinuated that we put the screw in the soup and did not give it back to us.

"The officer came in and he immediately thought what we were doing was silly, called us silly four times and he wrongfully arrested me," she explained.

Thimes says she was very firm telling them that she wasn't going to leave until they gave her back the screw, but that waitress wouldn't give it back. She was hauled downtown to the police station but not booked into jail.

As of press time, Fox 2 was waiting for a response from Culpeppers. Mayor Francis Slay, who deemed her the Ambassador of St. Louis, was an eyewitness to her going to the police station.

Thimes was originally supposed to be on Fox 2’s Morning Show to promote her going to the White House this weekend to sing for First Lady Michelle Obama an event at the Kuwait Embassy.and shared which tune she will be singing for Mrs. Obama..

Wow, can u say wrongful law-suit?

To peep the interview go to
http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/ktvi-denise-thimes-michelle-obama-102809,0,2191589.story

Remember to set your clocks back one hour Sunday morning at 2 a.m. to get your hour back which means more partying for the heathens and more prep for the churchgoers. LOL

IN THE NEWZ: At a press conference this week at Busch Stadium, Cardinals manager Tony La Russa will return for a 15th season at the helm of the reigning National League Central champions.

La Russa was reintroduced at a news conference at Busch Stadium on Monday, where it was announced that he has agreed to a one-year contract for 2010.

However, La Russa may not have been the biggest story at his own news conference. As the the manager spoke about his decision, he confirmed that Mark McGwire will replace Hal McRae as Cardinals hitting coach.

That will be the only change to La Russa's staff, as all of the other coaches -- including pitching coach Dave Duncan -- will return. Also At his conference, Larussa said McGwire inspired him to stay in St. Louis .

Wow, so if Mcgwire woulda said No, then Larussa wouldn've came back? And to choose a former player who didn’t like playing in St. Louis says a lot as well.

++++++++++++++++++++

In unrelated newz, Tony Larussa is a twitter person. He was at the Springsteen concert at Scott Trade Center last Sunday. Isn’t this the same social networking site that he sued cuz it was an imposter using his name on there?

St. Louis native and Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard along with the defending world champion
Phillies had just secured their second straight National League pennant, beating the Dodgers in five games, and lumbering Ryan Howard was the first to climb the makeshift stage set up in shallow center. They will play Game 1 tonite at the avenging American league champs new York Yankees in Yankee Stadium.

Howard was named the MVP of the NLCS for batting .333 (5-for-15) with two homers and eight RBIs, but that was secondary to what the Phillies' cleanup hitter had to say to the thousands of fans still in the stadium.

This year Howard became the player to reach 200 home runs the fastest; he did it in 658 games, easily beating the record of 706 set by Ralph Kiner. He also reached 600 RBIs this season in his 693rd career game, becoming the player to do it the fastest since 1946, when Ted Williams did it in 675 games.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
St. Louis Rams suffered its 17th loss in a row when they lost against the Indianapolis Colts at Edward Jones Dome. The Rams are 0-7 this season and have lost a franchise-record and current league-worst 17 consecutive games. Next Sunday's game at Detroit — against a Lions team that has lost 22 of its last 23 games — is shaping up as reporters are calling “the Stupor Bowl.” Experts say if the rasm are going to win, this is the game to win.

Well we will see.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
in other sports newz, Larry Johnson's father said he was angry and shocked by his son's use of gay slurs with reporters inside the Chiefs locker room on Monday.

The younger Johnson, running back of the Kansas City Cheifs, apologized on Tuesday for using a gay slur (the word "faggot" )when reporters approached him in the locker room on Monday. The team then asked him to stay away from practice and team activities while it and the league conducts a review of his actions.
The episode began Sunday night, when Johnson questioned Coach Todd Haley's football credentials on his Twitter account. He used the slur during an exchange with one of his Twitter followers

Well, here we go again. First it was former b-ball player Tim Hardaway used gay slurs now Johnson. Our thing is, celebs and big names should be careful how they use social networks cuz if they handle them in the wrong way, it will bite them back. And that's what happened.
With the hate bill just signed by Obama recently, being anti-gay is a hot button issue these days, but Johnson, I am sure did not expect for his comments to get out from Twitterland, but to mention the term "faggot' again when he was questioend by the media was STUPID. His apology is to save face trying to quell the firestorm that he caused in order to keep that J.O.B.. We wonder if Johnson will become the poster boy of gay slurs? The way its looking, it looks to be the case.

Renowned St. Louis native poet and educator Maya Angelou is in the newz yet again, now for her classic novel, “I know Why the Caged Bird Sings.” A Westminsiter school board member in The Orange County School district in California is seeking to ban the book that includes a rape scene. Judy Ahrens, a former Westminster School District trustee, took to the podium at Monday's Huntington Beach City Council meeting to read a scene from Angelou's book that details the rape of an 8-year-old girl. The reading was a demonstration on why the book should be banned, she told the audience. John Briscoe, an Ocean View School District trustee who headed the presentation, said he and Ahrens went to the City Council to publicize a matter of interest to the community
Angelou, who is scheduled to speak at UC Riverside Thursday,
recently talked with the Press Enterprise about banned books.

"I'm always sorry that people ban my books," she told the paper. "Many times I've been called the most banned. And many times my books are banned by people who never read two sentences. I feel sorry for the young person who never gets to read.”

Maya is such a class act—but I question the district trustee on her motivation for the book to be banned and if she fits the person who read two sentences. LOL
++++++++++++++++++++

In related newz, readers who responded to an www.ocregister.com
poll overwhelmingly oppose a ban of Maya Angelou's book "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" from public school libraries.

About 2,000 people voted in the poll in two articles about efforts in Huntington Beach to pull the autobiography from Ocean View School District's middle school libraries. About 86 percent of readers said not to ban the book and 14 percent said to pull the book from the libraries, according to the poll, which was posted Tuesday morning.

Well, the Midwest singers on MTV Starmaker were close but oh so far from winning. STL native Todd Sarvies (ON RIGHT) and Chi-town Melody Angel (MIDDLE) didn’t win. Todd Sarvies took runner up and Angel came in third. The winner was country singer Liz Davis (ON LEFT) who won a Bad Boy contract with P Diddy.
Well, we think our Midwest singers are winners and are probably better off not winning—especially that iron clad Bad Boy contract! LOL

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Chi-town's Kanye West won two of his nine nominations at the 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards that were aired Tuesday on BET (taped Oct 10 at Atlanta's Boisfeuillet Jones Civic Center). A no show, the embattled rapper won Producer of the Year and Best Hip Hop Style. West was expected to attend the fourth annual awards show. The show will repeat Oct 29 (and into perpetuity)

Well, Ye wasn’t alone in no shows cuz there were many who were not present for their awards.

Bruce Springsteen canceled a performance in Kansas City after his cousin and road crew member died. The death of 36-year-old Lenny Sullivan was announced in a statement on Springsteen's Web site.

Sullivan was found dead at Kansas City's Intercontinental Hotel hours before Springsteen and the E Street Band were to take the stage Monday night.

Kansas City police spokesman Capt. Rich Lockhart said officers were investigating the death, although he said it was not suspicious. A call to Springsteen's publicist was not immediately returned.

The Sprint Center arena said tickets would be refunded

Terre Haute, Indiana, for tax evasion (he was scheduled for release on April 13, 2010) and is currently living in Dismus, a half-way house in on Cote Brilliante St. Louis, Mo.

Three media personalities was in the newz for their actions or an action. First, KSDK personality/news producer Art Holliday reportedly had a news tirade at the gig. According to Columnist Jerry Berger in the Evening Whirl, Holliday was given a day to cool off after he did some cussin and fussin after the station aired a story about a memorial service for St. Louis police officer Julius Moore. The story the station ran was that he was shot and killed but according to all other media outlets he dies of injuries sustained in an auto accident en route to assist another officer. Well, we hear that Holliday is the Man up in KSDK and to get him angry (which we hear takes a lot cuz he is always even tempered) someone will mos def will get fired for their blatant error.

Second is controversial radio personality J.C. Corcoran. Speaking of fired, he was at K-HITS 96 this week where he had a morning show. Station management reportedly fired the legendary jock to save money and boost ratings. But this isn’t the first for the shock jock. Corcoran has worked at and been fired from almost every rock station in the STL market. While Corcoran will not be on the air he reportedly remains under contract with Emmis until December 2010. In other words, he still getting a checkkk.
+++++++++++++++

Lastly, 100.3 the Beat’s DJ Charlie Chan Soprano is heading to Jakarta, Indonesia to get on the 1s and 2s.

Is Fox 2 sports personality Rob Desir looking for a new love? Seems like it. On his radio Show “No Half Steppin” on WESL—1490 AM Tuesday he asked his guest Raina, his WESL radio colleague who co-hosts with Charlie Tuna on the Charlie Tuna Show, if she had any cute friends a few minute before the show was ending. So does this mean that Desir is no longer the boo to longtime girlfriend Chaquita Pollen(PICTURED)? Hmm.

Speaking of couples, model/promoter Lady Erica had an engagement party earlier this month at the St. Louis House of Comedy. She is engaged to her manager, Tatum Polk .

Former OUTTOWN columnist Senora Robinson sent OUTTOWN an interesting email about her singleness. She wrote: “ Ok facebook inspires me to wanna write again. Why do people (aka flames) try to resubmit their bid when they see you on FB? I’m like B if u liked it then, then u should put a ring on it!” The Lovely Lady. Hmm, wonder who she is talking about?

Why did Frankie wear a grill in her mouth at the Bet Hip Hop Awards? Why did Missy Elliott say that P Diddy owe her some money when she received her award at BET Hip Hop Awards? Why was the best thing of the show were the taped cyphers? Why was the show taped an not aired live? Why didn’t 60 Minutes focus more on Spike Lee’s beef with Tyler Perry? Why haven’t Whitney Houston’s singles, “I Look to you;’ and “Million dollar Bill” haven’t charted well on the Billboard charts? Why does Monique ask the same questions when she interviews her guests on her show? Why was Mark McGwire chosen as a bat coach for the cardinals and he’s got on record saying he didn’t care much for St. Louis? (Hmmm, sounds like LaRussa. LOL), Why didnt the City play any house or steppin’ music at its Jetsetters event last Saturday? Why does WESL AM talk show host Moses always coughing? And why were there so many police checkpoints in ST. Louis County last weekend?
