NOTE: Overall the event was cool. Nothing unusual . Just another Friday Night Fixx with an added Patron shot provided by the b-day boy for those who wanted a cup of it.. It would have been nice if err one obeyed the white dress code at least (they did allow jeans), but hey, even the b-day boy Slim, didnt wear ANY white (not even a hat), but if you are the co-owner of the club and its your bornday you can do that. LOL There was rapper Chingy, who also didnt wear white, chillin in the lower VIP booths with Slim, and dressed in a regular shirt and jeans and no cap, very un Chingylike. LOL

Morris and her background singers got the show started performing "Pappa Was a Rolling Stone," "Car Wash," and "My Prerogative."

First up was Poet Dee who performed the poignant piece, "I Have Dream."

Tiffany was up next who attempted (and we do stress attempted) to perform SWV's "Weak." She did preface before she performed that she was bit tipsy.

One of her party crew walked up toward the stage to show support,. Both were celebrating the b-day of one of their friends.

Hip hop artist K.D. was up next.

Poet Xplicit got the crowd to pay attention with his animated performances of relationship-based haiku and self promotion of his CD within his poem.

Newbie singer Anna Gross sang Anita Baker's "You Bring me Joy."

McDs R&B/soul search winner Katrina Reece performed Chrisette Michelle's "Blame it on me." she also performed after the event's intermission.

Cincinnati native Laura Wise travelled to the STL to perform that nite.

Danita Mumphard blew them away with her rendition of "My Funny Valentine."

Kansas City group Banger Boiz preformed an original song, "Take it to the Floor."

Meanwhile, during the intermission, OUTCAM got in a pic of the Posts's Pop Critic Kevin Johnson, guest, Posts' Fashion Editor Debra Bass and socialite Vincent Flewelyn.

Cafe Soul co-creator Nichol Stevenson with STL native singer Lynne Fiddmont and photographer Dr. Pam Jackson. Fiddmont was in town for a concert the following nite at the Sheldon.

Meanwhile back on the floor, folk were dropping it like it was not. LOL

The highlight as always at Cafe Soul was saxophonist Rhoda G who performed who holds the last looooooooooooooooooooong note and...

Before we left we snapped singer/guitarist Blu who performed her hilarious sng, "Bitch Didnt I Tell You." Joining her is poet Roert Dillard (pink shirt) and other singers.






NOTE: Overall the night was great (and packed). Great comaradarie and fellowship. The talent was OK. There were some hits and misses, but it was a fun time. Just wish the crowd in back could be more attentive and respctful of poets who performed (but Explict got em quiet so go figure) In the house were actor Chuck Flowers, singers Jamie Spencer (who performed later that nite), Curtis , designer Tiffany Balton, and broker Roger Macon.
