TIME TO GET TOWNED
THE BIG A&E NEWZ BIT in the ILII AND MO is sports related.
Checketts said last week that Limbaugh’s participation had become “a complication and a distraction to our intentions,” after Limbaugh’s past comments drew criticism from Goodell, Colts owner Jim Irsay, the NFL Players Association, at least seven players and Al Sharpton.
Limbaugh said that Checketts reportedly approached him about being a part of a group that was trying to bid on the Rams. The two met on a golf course in West Palm Beach, Fla., and later at Limbaugh’s house. Limbaugh said that he warned Checketts “about the potential controversy his inclusion in the group might cause and contacted Checketts after his name was leaked to media as a member of the ownership group.”
Limbaugh also said that he didn’t voluntary leave the group when Checketts contacted him, that he wasn’t going to withdraw and that Checketts was going to have to fire him.”
Well, this explains a lot if this was the case. Checketts probably didn’t expect that the media would have been contacted about Limbaugh having an interest in buying the Rams. So, the question is, who leaked the info to the media?
In other rams newz, the 0-6 team ‘s owners, traded linebacker Will Witherspoon to the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday in exchange for rookie wideout Brandon Gibson and a fifth-round draft pick. The Eagles were moving to replace linebacker Stewart Bradley, who is out for the season with a torn knee ligament.
Witherspoon who was named MVP of the Rams in 2007 brings eight years of play. He was originally drafted in 2002 by the Carolina Panthers, a third round pick at number 73 overall.
First Chris Draft, then Hollis Thomas, now Witherspoon. Damn! Whos’ next? Steven Jackson?
In other Rams Newz, in the Jaquars game, cornerback Ron Bartell suffered a head injury and will have the battery of concussion tests this week.
After suffering a sweep in last week’s playoffs with the Dodgers, St. Louis Cards’ first baseman Albert Pujols made news post playoffs on a Dominican radio station in regards to his fate with the Cards. Pujols said the Cardinals had approached him about a possible contract extension at some point during 2009. He and his agents at the Beverly Hills Sports Council said they are in no hurry to sign a contract extension. .Pujols also said on the station that he has one more year remaining on his old contract and a option in 2011.\
Sport experts are speculating that Pujols is concerned the Cardinals might not be able to pay him and put a contending team around him.
I guess we will see what happens, but Pujols is in a good position after 2010 to pick where he may want to play the rest of his career. And we are sure money ain’t the options because he is set for two lifetimes.
In related newz, Pujols has undergone arthroscopic surgery today on his right elbow with doctors removing bone chips and trimming bone spurs. Dr. James Andrews performed the operation in Birmingham, Ala. Pujols reportedly will begin rehabilitation next week in St. Louis and is expected to fully recover.
St. Louis native Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard and his team are doing what the Cards couldn’t do post season with the Dodgers. The Phillies are one game away from returning to the World Series as they beat the Dodgers Monday 5 to 4, putting the Phillies up 3-1.
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday.
Howard also made newz. Howard has driven in more runs this post season play. Monday night, in game 4, after a home run in his first at-bat, he had 14 runs batted in this postseason, more than he had in 17 playoff games the past two years. After that game, he tied the late Lou Gehrig for the most consecutive playoff games (eight) with at least one RBI in baseball history, a record set more than seven decades ago.
You go homeboy. Although the media tries to downplay your greatness the record books will not get overshadowed.
In other arts and entertainment newz, impeached Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is part of the cast of the next “Celebrity Apprentice,” that is filmed in NYC and hosted by billionaire Donald Trump. It was reported that because of his pending trial, he will be censored on what he can and cannot say on the show.
Earlier this year, Blagojevich tried to do “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here,” but the court wouldn’t let him leave the country, so his wife, Patti, participated instead.
Blagojevich’s trial on charges of attempting to sell President Barack Obama’s former Senate seat is set for June.
Our Midwest singers, St, Louis native rocker Todd Sarvies and Chi-town’s punk/soul Melody Angel will be advancing to the Finals on MTV’s P Diddy’s Starmaker. The two along with one other singer, Nashville country artist Liz Davis. The Top 3 will vie for a recording contract with Bad Boy this Sunday on MTV. Well, with conventional wisdom with these reality competition shows, being in the Top 5 at least, each will get signed to a recording contract. We think both Sarvies and Angel are winners. But whoever get a contract to bad Boy—read the fine print! LOL
To peep the elimination show goto http://www.mtv.com/videos/p-diddys-starmaker-ep-9/1623841/playlist.jhtml
In related newz, Melody Angel will be interviewed tomorrow Thursday on Trey and Choklit’s Morning Show on Power 92 in her hometwon of Chicago. It airs 5 am to 10 am. To peep the show go to Interview http://www.power92chicago.com/Trey-Da-Choklit-Jok/4000586
The Trey Songz/Mario concert sponsored by 100.3 The Beat, at the Pageant last Friday we heard was sold out is sold out. The capacity of the venue is about 2000. As far as the afterparties, we hear that Songz after set at the Venue in Wellston was packed like a sardines to a can and probably was a repeat performance of his coming to the Venue in August for his CD realse party for “Ready. Mario had an afterparty at Karma in Midtown where the women were in full blast to see teh sexy singer when he came through the doors about 1am on Saturday morning. He performed a mini concert for screaming fans as well (SEE OUT 703 FOR PICS). It was rumored that Day26, who also was on the bill, was going to make a surprise visit to Karma , but they didn’t show.

Speaking of Ye, the Chi-town rapper has been the target of death rumors yielding from a music video . West, who oddly enough was not nominated for any American Music Awards after they were announced last week, has pulled a controversial new video from his official website. The rapper uploaded a 14-minute promo, titled "We Were Once A Fairytale," featuring scenes of him cavorting with women in a club. Directed by Spike Jonze. the video was posted on West's popular blog this past weekend but was subsequently removed on Sunday. According to Billboard, The artsy video features a drunken, blurry-eyed, stumbling West in a club who eventually plunges an archaic dagger into his body to reveal a tiny demonic creature living within him. The theme of death or suicide in the video is evident and has fueled the fire of rumors about his death this week. that first surfaced Oct 20 that resulted in a massive frenzy of web rumors on social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. The prank was a set up of a Fox News Web page headlining West's death in "a bizarre car crash in Los Angeles." The fraudulent web site that churned out the news of West's faux-death has also been taken down.

RADIO WAVES. Talk show station KMOX got a shock on the airwaves when the station discovered it is no longer #1 in the Arbitrons. For at least the past 37 years, the station, that can be heard on 1120 AM in St. Louis, KMOX (1120 AM), held the top spot until recently. WARH (106.5 FM) “The Arch,”a jukebox styled pop/rock station that plays songs from the 70s to present, is the new #1 station for the months of July-September 2009 . The Arch got a 10.9 rating giving the station a commanding lead over their competitors by a whopping 2.6 points. The change occurred since Arbitron (which tracks radio ratings) switching from traditional written diaries to using electronic “People Meters” to detect better research on who’s listening to radio. In related newz, the new WESL 1490-AM got a showing in the Arbitrons with a 1.0 rating, which is unheard of for a brand new station. A station usually has to be on air for at least a year, but teh station did it in three months. The Simmons-owned station, dubbed Urban Sports and Talk, is partnered with sister station Team 1380 with sports and talk. It debuted in June.
Coming fresh off its Fall Fashion Week, Alive Magazine is having a private party at Sakes Fifth Avenue at Plaza Frontenac in West County to launch its new Men of Style Line.
STL radio sistas made news this week.
First up, congratulations to KMJM radio personality Tammie Holland who was chosen one of 16 singles (out of over 300 written in nominees) who will be featured in the November issue of St. Louis Magazine. To celebrate, about a 1,000 folk came to the Moonrise Hotel on Delmar Tuesday for a Red Carpet party meet the winners. And uh, we didn’t need a magazine to acknowledge how sexy this sista is!
Next, former WHHL radio personality Jamie B . said a teary goodbye last Sunday on her last show as a co-host on the Demetrious Johnson Show . Johnson said that he will miss her and that he feels he has lost two women back to back in his life, first his mother (activist Eddie Mae Binion ) then Jamie. She tried holding back tears and was able to say her final goodbyes to her co-host. She along with her husband, former WHHL program director Boogie D has moved to Philly after Boogie accepted a job as program director for 100.3 The Beat in Philly that’s in the same market as WHHL (Radio One). Also it was revealed that Johnson introduced Jamie to her husband Boogie D and she playfully said to Johnson, “It’s your fault that I’m leaving.”
Lastly, 100.3 the Beat’s Kiki the First Lady is offering up the new event Monday Night Mingle, that took place this past Monday and every Monday at Black Label. She’s cleverly marketing the event as something two-fold, one half for men and the other for women. The male side of the event stresses Monday Night Football, with $2 draft, .50 wings, and afootball featured prominently on the flier.
Flip the flier over and there’s softer imagery including a sexy martini splashing around inside a glass and photos of beautiful women.
DJ Quinn spins. The event is free until 9 p.m. Get more information by calling 314-621-1929.

We spotted Neely at the Tommy Davidson show at the House of Comedy Saturday and he said that he was bought out by a neighboring owner in the vicinity and that is why he had to close down. He said that he hopes to reopen his spot in another venue sometime in the near future.

WORDZ TO THE WHYZ
Why did the so called balloon boys family fake out the media and search parties knowing their son was not in the hot air balloon contraption? And why is the father still trying to deny it? Why are Twitter folk going crazy over John McCain’s daughter, Meghan’s breasts? Why did the three investors in Detroit station, WJNZ-AM (1140),call gospel artist Marvin Sapp “the Devil” for part ownership of the station and trying to help keep the station urban? Why was comedian Tommy Davidson’s set at STL House of Comedy Saturday a bit scattered? Why isn’t STL baseball great Ryan Howard not getting the same hype like Albert Pujols? Why was Mario cussin at his concert afterparty at Karma Friday? Why are there still pay phones? Why are certain sugary cereals have the Smart Choice good health label on the box ? Why did taco bell come up with the black taco? And why won’t former Illi Gov Blago just sit down somewhurr trying to be a reality show star?
